    what they don't mention is his crazy moves on defensive backs that would leave them confused, falling down or just standing dumbfounded stock still. i'll never forget a replay in slow mo. freddied went down and out. you could see the ball coming in the foreground yet biletnikoff ran circles around a defensive back, not even looking for the ball and at the last micro second freddie sticks out his hands with the ball actuall slightly of bound but freddie sticks out his arms and catches it and kept his feet inbounds befor being knocked out of bounds. well Stabler knew just where to put the ball too. he was great touch but also long ball passer. biletnikoff he had like radar or something. for many years in his nfl career defensive backs would rank him hardest receiver to cover . Once i heard raiders super fast long ball receiver cliff branch say fred taught me things that improved my moves and other things, as a reciever.

    Him, Cliff Branch, and Dave Casper were an awesome trio of receivers for the Snake to throw the ball to. And they had the best O-Line in the league with Jim Otto, Gene Upshaw, and Art Shell. The ONLY thing the Raiders were missing on offense was a great running back. Clarence Davis and Mark Van Eeghen were solid players but not elite. That team would've probably been the team of the 70's if they had gotten a RB like Marcus Allen sooner. But Al Davis was all about the vertical passing game ever since his time as an assistant coach under Sid Gillman with the LA/San Diego Chargers in the AFL

    • @radar0412
      @radar0412 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You have to remember that Elite running backs in the NFL draft have always been at a premium, and there's never enough Great running backs to go around. Because the Raiders were always so good in the 60's and 70's they always had Low Draft picks. So they didn't get a chance to draft OJ, Csonka or Franco.

    Fred belitnikoff has got to be the best receiver they ever had. He was Steve largent before Steve largent. Not only that he was on those Florida State teams when they were just starting to get good under Bill Peterson and he was an All-American and I believe that's the first time Florida state had ever been ranked number one was when they had acquired Fred belitnikoff. Probably the best player Bill Peterson ever coached

      Florida State scoured the county for talent and when he was there they had some good teams. In matter of fact in his senior year in 1964 they beat Florida for the first time. Then at the end of the 60's going into the early 70's they were rotten. Bobby Bowden came in 1976 and made them a power.
