My top metal partial is scraping the back and the front part of my tongue and has made my tongue completely raw and I've only had it for a few days now and they said they could create it just 1more time... But they said the top partial come out looking the same.. I'm just curious if anyone else wants to talk partial if they're tongue feels completely raw and if they slur like a drunk all day long just like myself

It's not uncommon for new partials to cause some irritation initially, however, in your case an adjustment is necessary according to krissai. You can use dental wax in the meantime (can buy it at your local pharmacy). As for the speech difficulty that u r experiencing, it will improve as u eventually get used to it 😄

      Hi Emilio,
Generally speaking, no the hooks do not damage the teeth, although this is if they are made correctly and also asking as the hooks are not placed on weak teeth.
Your dental prosthetist will be able to ensure everything is done as it should be. We have had patients who have had metal dentures for 50-60 years! And yes you can eat most foods with them. Overall they are great.

Why does the acrylic(plastic) denture have to be that thick? I can see the need where the teeth are actually anchored in the material but why so thick further down? Metal dentures aren't used at all for complete denture are they?

Not all acrylic dentures are thick, I really think it depends on the lab that makes them. Also the acrylic style have some thickness to them because when you bite down it gives you a very solid surface.

I was at a dentist today, & it looks like I'll be getting a bottom row denture. The dentist definitely said something about metal being part of the denture, he said the cost would be £800, would that be a fare price? How long does the procedure last from extractions to finally fitting of the denture.
    Thanx.

    • @thedenturecliniccanberra4968
      @thedenturecliniccanberra4968  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Eric,
There are several ways to go about this.
One is an immediate denture , where you insert the denture immediately , same appointment as the extractions . These work very successfully if done correctly
The other way is to have extractions then wait several months for gums to heal before receiving dentures .
It’s ups to the dentist and the patient generally to decide which is best.
As for the cost, dentures range wildly in cost all over the world , so I would be only guessing if I gave an answer on value there.
I hope this helps and Goodluck on the journey. Be patient and positive and let the denture have a chance to settle in 🦷

    Hey Doctor
I am missing one front teeth. I am using acrylic plastic denture. I am finding it very uncomfortable and therefore I cannot wear them. I am thinking about the metal partial denture- will this be better and more comfortable than the acrylic one to wear? If i lose bother teeth, could you add another denture to the metal? let me know. Thanks

    • @thedenturecliniccanberra4968
      @thedenturecliniccanberra4968  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Sean,
By far, metal dentures are more comfortable if made correctly and if there’s enough room in the bite to accomodate it.
We make mostly metal dentures for this reason and patients generally 99% of the time will not go back to a plastic one.
As for adding teeth to them. In most cases this can be done without any issues . It will require a weld generally so expect 2-4 day turn around time .
      Hope this helps

I have a metal partial bottom & I HATE IT! The metal clasp hurt my teeth whenever they are on it feels like it is squeezing it similar to a tooth that needs a root canal pain. I don't need a root canal, but it feels like that when I place them on. I now want one with plastic or for them to just take all my bottoms out for a full one. I have a full on top. I love no problems but bottom I can't wear because I HATE it how it looks & feels. Metal ones they can add teeth to it

@@SleeplessinOC ignore my earlier replys let me give you a good explanation.
There is 3 types of material used Cast Metal .. Acrylic & Flexible. Those last two are pink looking.
But overall different types of partials is 4. Let me explain.
The Cast metal is metal overall the most durable but the least esthetic. Can Be used for Many Years Decades.
The Acrylic Pink looking one is not Flexible but it's good for Esthetic and Moderate use for Eating.
The Flexible one is also pink looking (natural gum look) but this one is primarily for Esthetic and I would not recommend using to eat. Unless it's soft foods such as pasta stuff like that.
Now the 4th type I mentioned is a Combination of Cast Metal and Flexible .. This last one is more Costly though $$$.. The Flexible parts are supported by the Metal so these are not prone to breaking when eating that is the overall best one.
If money is an issue I Recommend Acrylic or Cast Metal either or. Flexible if you don't mind not primarily using it for eating. And (Cast Metal Combination with Flexible) for overall Satisfaction from all rubrics but like I mentioned it is the most costly. I hope that helped.

@@juankroosfrausto7411 OK so let me see if I understand this correctly . The “flexible” portion is the gum looking portion (but what is the actual name of material?), and then the cast metal is the connecting portion ? Am I understanding that right ?
2)how do they determine what the fake teeth will look like ?
      3) how long would you say the first one lasts before needing a new one because you lost more bone and gum shrinkage ?
I think I made a mistake in getting my teeth pulled out and I’m devastated at the thought of rapid bone resorption and getting that puckered look.
And now I have to deal with this whether I want to or not so I want to get this whole partial denture thing right the first time . I’m petrified of getting the “wrong” one . 😭 I have cried at my mistake of removing my teeth when I don’t think it was absolutely necessary .
