    Thank you for mentioning you CAN keep dentures in your mouth over night! Usually dentists say strictly "no" , I just simply can not sleep without. Thanks!

      Wow! Can't thank you enough as I've recently had a part denture on top and bottom, and I've a real psychological thing about not having them in my mouth! As when they put them first in after extractions, I had to leave them in a week and it made me at least feel like I had teeth again.

      Yes, I can't since I got my dancers. It's like it just feels really weird without them. Besides, you know that you can't talk well. But even my daughter said when they are out which is never in front of anybody except for Her She said because I keep in mind all the time when they're out. My mouth doesn't actually look how sometimes it's sucked in. She said sometimes she can't tell which is good but I yeah , I sleep with the men everything plus I have two canines and if I try to shut my mouth , they go into my gums so I can't do it

    Just got my set of dentures. My doctor recommended not using the efferedencent tablets at all. She said dentures are pourius and these tablets will eventually ruin them. She said clean really good with a soft toothbrush and mild soap.

    My mother never put her dentures in water. She cleaned them at night and she put thim back in her mouth and there was a reason for that. So that way her mouth wouldn't become incaved. And it wouldn't give her granny mouth.

    so i just got my dentures, only had them 2 days now. still learning things. but i thought they shouldn't be stored dry? and also, i know people do sleep with them, my cousin keeps his in 24/7, but isn't that bad? gums need time to breathe right? and i heard from other denture videos, keeping them in all the time will soften your gums up alot. my dentist told me the first night, sleep with them, then take them out every night before bed.

    • @thedenturecliniccanberra4968
      @thedenturecliniccanberra4968  2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      There will always be many views on this topic. And each dentist will have their opinion based of who their teacher was or their mentor most likely ….
      My mentor always said sleeping in them is 100% ok, the main element and the only thing you must do, is clean them every single day. This way going to bed wearing CLEAN dentures is not an issue at all. Your guns can withstand this.
      Healthy gums equal happy patients .
      It’s personal preference , I would say 50/50 of our patients sleep with them in so there’s no clear evidence of any way being right or wrong . Juts make sure they are clean :)

  • @larrystradeski8261
    @larrystradeski8261 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Wearing dentures to bed is Not Recommended.The tissue should be exposed to the air and able to relax from the pressure of the dentures to keep the gums healthy.Keeping them in water is a personal preference but if the water has a high alkali content it could promote a build on the dentures.

      Newbie here too. My dentist said the same. Don’t keep your dentures in overnight (bacteria growth and I agree from the standpoint of being in regular health care for almost twenty years) and don’t keep them in water overnight. I agree with it from the standpoint that tap water is not the best in all areas. If dental professionals could agree on like purified drinking water etc, I would feel safer doing so overnight. I also agree they’re made to be wet all day long so being dry could affect things as well. The seesaw of information out there gives me a migraine. Lol.

    • @thedenturecliniccanberra4968
      @thedenturecliniccanberra4968  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Absolutely .
      It’s very common. Just be sure to clean them at night, then you can sleep with them in, if you find that’s comfortable .
      If the denture is really small, best to keep these designs out of mouth overnight just to be safe .

I ask because I also have RA in my hands and don't think I could take them out and put them back in daily. • @thedenturecliniccanberra4968
      @thedenturecliniccanberra4968  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Marc,
      If the denture is small, say 1-2 teeth then there maybe a very small chance that the denture can dislodge . We have never heard or come across this , but that doesn’t mean it isn’t to happen.
      We have always educated our patients that it’s perfectly fine to sleep with them in , and in fact a high percentage of denture wearers actually do this. The main things is to ensure they are cleaned before bed .

      Hi Amy, there’s nothing I could advise on this.
      I think the best solution would be to take them to a registered Dental Prosthetist, and ask them if it’s possible to do one of 2 options
      1) change the teeth but keep the original base (called a remodel for partial dentures )
      Or
      2) use a small dental drill to recarve some anatomy and shape into the mole teeth (this option won’t work aswe as option 1 but will be cheaper option
      Hope this helps Amy. Thanks for watching and don’t forget to subscribe :)
