I live in Leander and there are a few dinosaur tracks in the riverbed about 500 yards from my back door. I just recently found out about Dinosaur Valley State Park, which is probably about 90 minutes from where you are. No gold to be found there but they have tons of these tracks. Walking down into the riverbed and standing next to these things was so super cool and exciting.

Not bad Sir! Definitely an improvement on Version 1! I think that you should try adding a Wooden Frame around it to give it a bit more support, weight, and keep it from flexing, plus be a better mounting point for some legs/retaining rods to prevent it washing away. Additionally, to make your retention and clean out easier, with a wooden cross rail sideways at the top and bottom, you can then just screw the Carpet into it by adding Riffles to create even downward pressure and creating negative back pressure to increase precipitation of Gold/Heavies from your material. Even just simple Pallet Wood would work, and keep the price virtually free and overall weight down. 🤷‍♂️😁🤘Plus being able to fully remove the carpet to flex it out and make sure you’re getting everything without having to worry about dealing with the entire sluice would be nice I’m sure!

I've been nervous that using wood might cause it to float.. it already tends to get caught up in the current a bit. I've been looking at thicker gauge metal, so far no luck.

@@goldnoob well, depending on thickness and species, you could opt for a nice heavy dense type, which would resist wanting to float away. More so though with upgraded Rebar legs or Wooden ones with feet that you can put rocks on, and a Set Screw or Pass Through Bolt locking system to control pitch/height cheaply.
You could also double up on your metal, in either a 1 piece multi fold from hell hehe or 2 pieces, and then solder them together. You could also then bead roll or bend/hammer in some stiffener ribbing. Which would also keep it from wanting to flex.
Here's another idea I had for Poor Man's Expanded Metal Mesh, Chicken Wire cut and stacked in 3-5 layers high with overlapping mesh patterns to prevent rocks/pebbles from falling down too. If steel, it could be then be magnetized, and help filter out black sands as well!
Been thinking about fun ways to make my own for years on the cheap, especially to capture the ultra fine flour gold we have here in Michigan. A multi tiered highbanker style setup was my best thought for maximum capture zones and current/gravity changes. I've got some fun ideas that I've yet to see anyone use together...like a Venturi tube to create rotational spin between tiers, post top tier mesh preventing any big solids from clogging the funnels and downpipes. 🤷😁😉🤞🙏 We'll see if it works how I think it might, or if its more cleanup sluice only for cons only. Gonna make a Rockhounding and Treasure Hunting channel as part of my Network on here, with weather getting nice finally, I'll be able to get some Agate, Yooperlite, and Gold hunting Content in soon! 🤞🙏🥰🥷😎🤘

I fear you gonna slice your forearm while washing the carpet.
If you fold over each edge of the sluice , you get rid of that danger and also increase the rigidity of the sluice
