Absolutely BEAUTIFUL song and can be extremely emotionally triggering. I saw in another reaction to this video something that I never noticed. She never touches the ground in the video. She is on roofs, tree branches, the fountain ledge, etc. It appears that she is the one that is gone, he (male playing the piano in the video) is mourning her. Incredibly haunting and a lovely song. Amy Lee has one of the best voices in the history of music!
Yeah, there are numerous references to her being "dead" and probably by suicide... the bandages on her wrist, he not touching the ground, nobody around her noticing her, the man looking up at the rooftops as he walks around the streets, and especially the scenes of her on the dented car roof, which is a call back to a famous photo of a woman named Evelyn McHale who jumped off the 86th floor of the Empire State Building in 1947 that was widely published as "the Most Beautiful Suicide". The picture is stunning in its unintentional aesthetic qualities and it inspired numerous artists, including Andy Warhol. I won't link it here, but if you want to see it, it's on Wikipedia.
The video and song takes place after her fall from the building in "Bring me to life". She has passed, and He is in mourning over the loss, if you look at what he sees, he is looking at the upper floors of the buildings as he walks the streets. He is also dressed in a black suit, like he has been to a funeral. Amy does not touch the ground hinting at the fact that she is dead, and is watching as a spirit. Awesome concept. Not sure if Amy has spelled this out or not, it has been some time since it's release.
Amy has never looked more beautiful... MY take on this song, from the video. Everybody thinks she's sad because her boyfriend, or whatever left her alone even though she was always there for them... The video leads me in another direction. SHE is the one who left, she just doesn't know it. She died. You can see the pain in the face of her boyfriend who is wearing a suit and looking like he just got back from her funeral. She's in all white... Extremely beautiful and nobody ever looks at her, because they can't see her... She's an Angel now.
@@AuskaDezjArdamaath This song was written by Ben Moody (at that time the guitarist and co fouder of Evanescence). Its actually about a lost love, but it also fits the story of her sister.
I feel like the wrist bandages take it to someone dying by their own hand. But it will hit different for everyone. Cried ugly tears watching this today. Never had that reaction to this song before.
It's pure beauty, little brother. She has a voice from another planet, but the juxtaposition of her voice and the powerful instrumentals is mesmerizing.
Oh My 🫣 I had these words laminated and placed at the spot on the highway where my beautiful hubby died in a horrid car crash just 3 yrs ago MISS YOU TERRIBLY ANTHONY 💔 🙏
So sorry for your loss. My dad was my best friend, and he was killed by a drunk driver 10½ years ago. I know the pain of losing someone like that, especially when it is the fault of someone who doesn't care about anyone but themselves. He, of course, is still alive. That's the way things happen. The innocent get killed, and the guilty wake to see years afterward. I hope you are at some peace with his death and are able to enjoy this holiday season. I'll be thinking about you. ❤
@1girlnamedsusan TY - sorry for your tragedy. It is just hard to grasp as you know too well, he was only 13 minutes from home and had dinner in the car so I wouldn't have to cook 🤗 He didn't suffer so I live on that 🙏
What always captivates me about her voice is how clearly it cuts through the instrumentation when she isn't even belting. She has so much control and power with incredible technique.
I believe most of that is a result of sound engineering. The mixing board operator can boost her vocal track or reduce the other tracks in order to get her voice on top of all of the instrumental tracks.
You are quite possibly the only person who has ever made me smile while watching and listening to this song. Your smile and love for music brightens my day. I absolutely love watching you react.
😭Thank you So much for this reaction! I had it played at my daughter's celebration of life, (who also had a beautiful voice). She passed away February 2015 at just 21 yrs old. She had so many more friends than I realized show up, that there was barely standing room only. This song is SO emotionally deep, I suddenly realized it may have been Too much noticing everyone's reaction. I had them play Royals by Lorde immediately after, being it was one of her & her friend's faves at the time & way more upbeat. That helped A LOT, as it got everyone up on their feet singing, clapping & dancing. I know she would have loved that. 💙
This was an amazing treat to see you experience this absolutely wonderful song for the first time! Thanks so much for sharing with us! Evanescence is truly wonderful. Now that you've got My Immortal and Bring me to Life under your belt, time for 'Going Under'! :)
Guilty pleasure? No guilt, bro. This song grabs you by. . . and I can't actually say it, but you get the point. Your reaction is exactly what the song requires! You will not regret this rabbit hole!
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It speaks at another level because it can resonate with those who have lost people loved ones not just to death. People who suffer from addiction are often also lost to their loved ones because they are a shell of their former self. The video makes it even more beautiful. Notice that her feet never touch the ground. She is on the car, on the fountain, in the tree, on the roof... never on the ground. You should definitely listen to their song Lithium. It's another beautiful one.
The beautiful thing about this type of music is that it defies "types". Call it what you want....Rock N Roll, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Prog Metal, Nu Metal, Black Metal....whatever......it can incorporate all influences from other genres of music because it is all about freedom. You have influences from the blues, classical music, jazz, rap, R&B.....everything. For that reason, I find "metal" music to be more dynamic and able to run the entire range of emotions. From the edge of despair to absolute pure joy to comic relief to political revolution...it's all here. And it is wonderful watching people get to experience it for the first time after having enjoyed "Rock" music for the better part of 50 years myself.
The best female vocalist in rock history to me. I've had the privilege of getting to see her twice in concert and was worth every penny. She sing just as amazing live as she does recorded. And to this day that song still is in her playlist to perform.
I attended their concert in Sydney for their 20th Anniversary since they had first toured in Australia. Amy is captivating, very emotional just absolutely beautiful. That concert was so special to her & us Aussies. Amy expressed how much she loved Australia's crowds. She introduced her new bass player & said I had to have an aussie join our band. When the band started out us Aussies made such an impact on her. Amy & the band gave a performance of a lifetime. Amy has had alot of tragedy in her life & she sings from the heart & soul. There were many men in the audience that cried that night. We all went on this beautiful, haunting journey with her & the band. Listen to more of them mate ❤
The joy combined with shock that showed up on your face when the instruments kicked in is exactly how I felt all of those years ago when it was first released. Fantastic song and and equally great reaction video!
You shouldn't be embarrassed to admit that you like the song My Immortal, The Bad Touch is a guilty pleasure, but My Immortal is a song you can play at a funeral or memorial service without embarrassment
This is a beautiful song! Amy is a great singer and I'm glad you are giving her attention and appreciation. Evanescence is a great band, thank you for this one.
I'm 68 years old and this is one of my favorite newer bands and why the musical composition, the mix of genres, the impeccable lyrics and finally they emotionally put their heart and soul into it.
MOLLYBOY!!!! Thank you for this reaction. I gave you a list of songs to react to and this was one of the top songs. You need to continue with the list I gave you. I loved your commentary at the end. You really understand the essence of the song and what it was about. Great job mate!! 👍
There are a lot of reaction videos out there, but you came up in my feed the other day and I instantly subscribed because your love and appreciation for music is written all over your face! You don’t even need to say a word, your expressions say it all. You’re an old soul with a lot of empathy. Thanks for the great content.
Yeah... You nailed the meaning behind the song! You don't owe me any apology!! LOVED your reaction😭 "Call Me When You're Sober" would be a harder tune like "Bring Me To Life".
True musicianship!! Thank you for doing this one. Love watching you discover the music that walked people like me through my entire life. Ups and downs, celebrations and loss - music (real music) is key in the "you gotta feel it to heal it" theory of growth.
This whole album is just beautiful fire. I had a tape in my car with that on one side Linkin Park Hybrid Theory on the other, and it just went round and round for about 6 years 😂 Amy is a classically trained musician ❤
Watching your emotions through this was beautiful. Your smile and just how you were connecting with the song is definitely the reason for experiencing all types of music. I'm glad your reaction was on my FYP.
Wonderful reaction to my go-to for many many many years. Thru her music she helped me when I had a difficult period of illness. I have every CD and have listened countless times. Evanescence CDs are some of the only ones that love every single song and can listen on repeat. Many of her songs are deeply emotional, sad, touch your soul. She even wrote about the death of her sister (at a very young age.). Look forward to your journey into Amy Lee and Evanescence. 😢❤😊
Her voice is soo beautiful. Love your reaction as always. ❤ Song suggestions.. "No Rain" by Blind Melon... also "Change" by Blind Melon.. if you do "Change" it would be really interesting to do the David Letterman live version.. that was recorded the day that Kurk Cobain died. Blind Melon had just found out that Kurt died.. they changed some of the words to "Change" and at the end, they pay tribute to Kurt. It's an amazing performance...I think you'd really enjoy it. The video for "Change" doesn't do the song justice at all and leaves out some of the best parts of the song... I think you'd really enjoy just the audio version though and the Davidi Letterman live recording is so powerful.
Amy is phenomenal. Just saw her and Halestorm.a few months ago with my 9yr old daughter. Itvqas an amazing night of female power vocals. Unforgettable. She still sounds this great in '24. She's a true icon in the music world
When Amy Lee starts pushing in her middle range, my whole body lights up like a Christmas Tree. During the bridge after the second verse, she pushes in just a perfect range for her and for me and I get goosebumps everywhere. Love listening to her here. Love this song too. So beautiful.
I just took my daughter to see Evanescence for her first ever concert. Watching her face light up to the sheer talent of Amy Lee is something I'll never forget. Barely any lights... No Pyro... Just pure genius. Halestorm opened up for them... Thst might be a band you could looking to at some point. Lizzy Hale is on parity with Amy Lee
Written by Amy Lee and Ben Moody. A spirit that haunts the memory of a grieving loved one. Everyone will feel this heartache in their lives. Evanescence keeps the emotions real with their music. This track is a masterpiece.
I truly love watching your face to see when things click. When I saw this title on your channel, knew I needed to watch. The surprise, but the emotion as well. And,yes, it’s lovely whether you’ve watched or listened 1 times or 1000 times. I keep wanting to suggest my favorite group for a long time, but they lean more country sound, though their concept is Fleetwood Mac with beautiful harmonies. Maybe someday.:)
Call Me When You're Sober, Going Under are just some superb Evanescence tracks. Then there's Break In by Halestorm, featuring Amy Lee, and my god, what a stunning song. ❤
This always makes me cry, makes me think of my little brother whom I lost to cancer 10 years ago. He's always present and I miss him. The song is hauntingly beautiful.
I 1st saw/heard Amy Lee on Broken with Seether, ( amazing how late to the party ). Went searching and found a live performance of this song, it's 1 of my all time favorites now, when things build up and I was feeling almost overwhelmed with sadness...or anger, as a truck driver driving at night when it was just you, your truck, the road and your music, it would play this as Loud as I could and let the tears roll, saved my sanity so many times. Loved your reaction young brv
Bring Me To Life and My Immortal are both on the same debut album. You can't trust the date on TH-cam as a release date. That's just an upload date. When this originally came out, there was no TH-cam yet
My fave ever reaction of yours. You can see the emotion on your face reflecting what everyone who ever listened to that beautiful song felt. We all ❤ Amy!
When my granddaughter was a baby, and fussy, I would play this song and cradle and rock her while humming and it would immediately calm her. That was 21 years ago and is still one of her favorite songs. I loved your reaction!!!
dude you left me hanging. i so wanted you to listen again A BIG FAT REWIND. reactors will listen to a song the 2nd. time in their reaction. people can click off if they want. they'd be fools. the close up shots of the piano being played is amy. that's what she said. lmao. yes more evanescence
6:32 that look of JOY Molly, now THAT'S the ticket! ❤
I got goosebumps from his look!!!!!

“Going Under” is another of their songs that I really enjoy.

Actually listening to the Fallen album after this reaction and the entire album is great.

Anyone who’s ever been left behind by someone can’t help but feel this song to the depths of their soul. 💔
Agreed.
Yes definitely
It brings my sons who've gone to the next plane to my mind, yrs of them growing up, and while it breaks my heart I also love it❤💔

You should check out “Call Me when You’re Sober”. Another great Evanescence tune.

Yes, I remember this impacting me heavily as a teen, I even bought wings, 😂

Bring Me To Life and My Immortal are both on the same debut album. You can't trust the date on TH-cam as a release date. That's just an upload date. When this originally came out, there was no TH-cam yet
Thanks for introducing me to this!!!!
Sooooo beautiful!
Every time I hear Amy Lee sing she brings me to tears her voice is unbelievable
A new shock to me! Amazingly moving! Thanks
One of my top 10 of all time, incredible song!
