Heck of a nice trail and you did a really good job with this video Todd. I can't imagine anyone not liking the Ouachita or the Ozark National Forest. I'm right there with you on your feelings about uphill and downhill. Hahaha. Thanks for sharing your hike with us. You did Goo 'd
Man I love that old shady lake recreation area. It’s a tired old CCC campground and I like to go out there during the week in late October or in November. For $15 you can have that entire place virtually to yourself. It’s paradise. Shhh! Don’t tell anybody.
@@ToddvsTodd lucky you. I didn’t discover that place until just a few years ago. Seems like the perfect place to build some good childhood memories. And how about Albert Pike? I kinda stumbled upon that place a few years ago, unaware of it’s tragic history. It really is a fascinating region. My family on my mom’s side is from south Arkansas nearby which kinda adds another level of interest for me. Anyway, I love getting up there to hike whenever I can because I live in a desert. A hiking desert. And by that I mean I have to travel hours and hours to get to any legit good hiking. I’m in Spring, just north of Houston. We’ve got the lone star trail, but that’s it, unless you’re prepared to drive out to Big Bend or the Guadalupe mtns. With the Ouachitas I can scratch that itch on a four day weekend. I could do it in three if I were still living in Longview.
Well, this is embarrassing. At 5:37 you say, I don't see how anyone can get lost on this trail. I actually got lost on the top of Buckeye mountain on my first trip out there and had to bushwack off the side down to Katy Creek. Got severely dehydrated and vomited about 10 times or so, ah good times indeed. That view at 16:30 is one of the best views I've seen in Arkansas. Great video man!!!
Cool hike man. The video quality really didn't look bad at all. Can't wait to be doing it myself here shortly. I'll try to look up that campsite near the falls. I'm assuming there are several good sites down around the creek?
Im about to do this trail in a couple of weeks ,You said counterclockwise but started off around the creek. It looks like thats clockwise according to all trails , can you clarify.
Nice video!!! Really enjoyed it!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks guys, it was a fun little hike!

It really is a great spot. I spent a TON of time there and at Albert Pike back in my youth.

Nice one, Todd! An area I love - the Ouachitas never disappoint!
I appreciate it Chris, the Ouachitas are pretty much my favorite place on Earth.
I'm glad you got to do this hike, I know you've been thinking about it a long time.
Woulda been better if you were with me my brother!
Awesome video brother! Never gotten on this one. It’s on my list though. Keep up the filming!
Just trying to keep up with you!
Thanks

Oh yeah, finding a site near the creek won't be hard at all.
