Eagles were formed in the early 70's in Cali as a Southern rock/classic rock band w/ country influences... they dropped their debut album in 1972 & released 6 studio albums but they broke up in 1980... However, Eagles' popularity grew after they broke up to levels of Michael Jackson... Their compilation album "Their Greatest hits '71 - '75" ... has sold 38 million copies in the US alone (45 million worldwide)...Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' has sold 34 million copies in the US (70 million worldwide) Eagles' album 'Hotel California' (1976) has sold 26 million copies in the US... one of the top 5 selling records of all time... Don Henley (drums/ vocals) said he wrote the song 'Hotel California' about being disillusioned about life in the West Coast... where everyone seemed to come to either be a movie star... model ... rock star... just to get a taste of the high life ...but they get trapped by vices like drugs... sex ... and gangs... etc. Eagles were formed by Glenn Frey (guitar/ vocals), Don Henley (drums/ vocals), Bernie Leadon (guitar/ vocals) and Randy Meisner (bass)... Don Felder (lead guitar) was added for their 3rd album in 1974... 4th album 'One of these nights' became the Eagles' first #1 album on the US charts and has sold 4x platinum (4 million copies) in 1975. Eagles parted ways w/ Bernie Leadon in 1976 and replaced him w/ Joe Walsh (guitar/ vocals) as internal tensions within the band were becoming unbearable... Still, their 5th album 'Hotel California' in 1976 became a massive #1 hit. In 1977, Timothy B. Schmit (bass) replaced bassist Randy Meisner permanently for their final album 'The Long Run' in 1979 ... However, conflicts came to a head on tour between Glenn Frey and Don Felder in 1980 and resulted in an averted fight after a concert and the Eagles split up acrimoniously. In the 80's, Glenn Frey and Don Henley scored solo hits and Joe Walsh was also fairly successful as a solo artist... As Eagles' record sales grew over time, the band members finally decided to put aside their differences and reunited in 1994, releasing a live record 'Hell freezes over' which sold 9x platinum ... w/ Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy Schmit and Don Felder... and began touring again. However, the Eagles fired guitarist Don Felder in 2001 over disputes w/ money. Eagles released their 7th and final album 'Long road out of Eden' in 2007. Glenn Frey passed away in early 2016... the Eagles continued doing concerts w/ his son Deacon Frey ... and Vince Gill. Other Eagles classics - 'Life in the fast lane'... "I can't tell you why"... 'New kid in town'... 'Take it easy'... 'Tequila sunrise'...

Hi there, I love all the rock videos that you’ve been checking out and if you like this song, you should check out their greatest hits. Most of their songs are pretty much like soft rock, but they are all great songs.
You should hear Slash plays his guitar from guns and roses, patience, November's rain just a few, you should do a live review on both of these songs, if you like great guitar, seriously you'll be amazed
"Hotel California" is a meta fore for a place that caters to addicts. That passage where he sings "in the masters chambers they gather for the feast, they stab it with their steeling knives (needles) but they just can't kill the beast" and "you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave ' means that you can 'check out' (die) but you can never leave the Hotel California because of the addiction(s) and the hold it has over you body and soul. He's singing about a fictional place but I'm sure such places did and do exist sadly.
The double-necked guitar has a 6-string on the bottom, and a 12-string on top. A 12-string guitar has two strings per note, so it has a much fuller sound. Jimmy Page (from Led Zeppelin) also plays a double-necked guitar. It is so that musicians can switch between 2 different guitars without having to take it off and on.
When I was a kid in the 80's, the rumor was this song was about Anton LaVey's House of Satan. I don't believe that, and have always loved this song, Since you're doing old song reviews, would Love to see you react to Jim Croce *You Don't Mess Around With Jim* or *Bad, Bad Leroy Brown*, I think you would love either one of those songs. Love your reaction to the Eagles!
Some think this song is a metaphor about the mental institutions in California and elsewhere during the 60s, many of the patients were getting aggressive experimental treatments and locked away for years. Check out the movie “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” All those hospitals were closed in the early 80s, contributing to the flood of mentally ill homeless we now see on the streets.

I was screaming at the TV, " Do you not realize the talent, energy, everything needed to perform at this level" 😮
the double neck guitar has 12 strings on the top for a fuller sounding rhythm. the bottom is a regular 6 string for lead/solos.
Glen Frey was playing an acoustic 12-string. Maybe why Don Felder never played the 12-string neck. The guitar was a Gibson EDS-1275 double neck.

❤
Joe Walsh can play with anybody ,way underated in the guitar department.and funny .
They are all lead singers on different songs and they are all great.
"Hotel california" is loose terminology for the Bevery Hills hotel.. Which happens to be the hotel on the cover of this album. 😊
Hotel California = California lifestyle
When I was a kid in the 80's, the rumor was this song was about Anton LaVey's House of Satan. I don't believe that, and have always loved this song, Since you're doing old song reviews, would Love to see you react to Jim Croce *You Don't Mess Around With Jim* or *Bad, Bad Leroy Brown*, I think you would love either one of those songs. Love your reaction to the Eagles!
What the song has made me think it's about since it was released is Purgatory. You can check out any time you want, but you can never leave...
Back in the day every member of the band was important to the music and the sound.
Head out to Las Vegas and watch them live in the Sphere, it will be one of the best classic rock concerts you will witness.
LIFE IN THE FAST LANE is another banger, check it out😊
Henley, Frey and Joe Walsh all put out solo albums!❤
Some think this song is a metaphor about the mental institutions in California and elsewhere during the 60s, many of the patients were getting aggressive experimental treatments and locked away for years. Check out the movie “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” All those hospitals were closed in the early 80s, contributing to the flood of mentally ill homeless we now see on the streets.
React to Stevie Ray Vaughan Texas Flood at the el mocambo, as you say he should have horns cause he’s the best guitarist of all time. As per usual top reactions, keep it up🔥
Don Henley is singing lead in this song but they all sing. Henley sings the lead the most, he is my favorite Eagle. They are all so talented!
Don Henley is from the eagles and he done a solo smuggler blues
Just sub, Jersey baby Jersey. Love your reactions keep them coming brother
Nobody knows the real meaning of the song, but your idea that the State of California is like a hotel because everyone wants to go there, is an interesting one. Nice one!
LMFAO!!!! hahahaha...lol.....hahahaha...You are right bro....We ARE Nice...hahaha....I have heard that saying for years from East Coast people that Californians are so nice!!! And we are to a FAULT Bro!!!
***LAS VEGAS SPHERE*** They did a concert there a few months ago and here is the link to Hotel California epic performance with the sphere special effects but the whole concert is on YT, I just found it, I'll be doing that in VR. :)
Its about coming to California in the 70s and getting drawn into the music business.
