The Double Guitar is two setups. One neck is a twelve string guitar. The other a 6 string. Both are tuned in standard guitar tuning. You can tell by the posts on the headstocks.

These early bands created rock and roll. Every note, every riff, every harmony, every lyrical theme you hear was copied again and again through the 70s, 80', 90's....... Imagine what it was like to grow up in the era as many of us did. Pure creativity, made for the pure enjoyment of putting out this new strain in the human genome, this new strain of earth Life, never heard before on planet Earth.
This is arguably their most well known song EVER! I’ve been an Eagles fan since the late 70s and for Christmas this year my wonderful wife got me a signed copy of the album with a silver record of Glenn Frey on the front. They’re a band I’ve never been able to see. On guitar you have Don Felder and the guy in the bandanna is Joe Walsh who in 1980 ran for president. This band has over 50 years of massive hits! If you wanna delve deeper into the genius of the Eagles check out some live stuff from their Hell Freezes Over tour or their show in Melbourne Australia. The double guitar you’re asking about, one guitar is a normal 6 string guitar and the other is a 12 string which adds multiple strings of the same note. You can’t go wrong with anything they do young buck.

The Eagles, The Band, The Beatles, Genesis, Night Ranger, and many bands have drummers that sing. At least sometimes. The Eagles have Don Henley(here) Glen Frey, Joe Walsh, Randy Meisner (their only #1) all as "lead singers". Just like the beatles, everyone in the band was a singer.
Phil Collins is also a great drummer that is the lead singer. First with Genesis then off on his own. See, "I Can Feel it Coming". Will blow your mind.
Yes, the double neck guitar allows a player to switch sounds, like moving from a six string, to a twelve string without changing instruments. Joe Walsh in the red bandana was an awesome guitarist even before he joined the Eagles. This was a GREAT reaction vid. There was some incredible groups in the 70s and 80s! Love the Eagles! I didn’t see this concert in DC… but I did catch them in DC about 10 years ago, before Glenn Frey passed away. They sounded amazing, put on one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
This is and will forever be one of my favorite songs ever… I saw them live in 94 on their Hell Freezes Over tour and it was well past their prime, they had been broken up for years and they were older but still sounded soooo good! Thank you for your wonderful fresh reaction!
Great reaction to a song from my childhood! I was about 8 when it was released. I’ve heard and read online that the “Mercedes” line is: “She got the Mercedes bends”. I’m not sure what that is supposed to mean. The song itself is iconic. One of the best songs in rock music if you ask me. People have debated the meaning behind the lyrics since its release. One of the Eagles has said it is about a person who is trapped by the fast paced life in LA and can never go back to their old life without needing some California life too.
@@user-tf9jb1in3k I know what a Mercedes Benz is. What I’m trying to say is that for some reason, the word “bends” is used in the lyrics to describe the woman. Maybe it’s saying that she rose to the top of society too fast, and misses her old self.
We saw The Eagles live on their last Australian tour just before Glenn Fry passed and they sounded even better live. It was an open air concert on a hot summer night at a local vineyard and although it may sound strange with a full moon behind the stage and millions of stars their music really seemed to fit the setting. Kasey Chambers was also the support act which was another bonus for us as we have always been Kasey fans maybe you know her from her Eminem cover of Lose Yourself which has been doing the rounds on Utube..
I was lucky to grow up on this music. The seventies were the best decade for all genres of music. Please for your own sake check out more seventies music.
I'm so old. It's hard to conceive of "I've never heard of the Eagles" Great stories and harmonies by 5 guys standing up there with 4 guitars and drums (unless one or two of them do keyboards instead). Concerts were music rather than crazy productions.
The first was made for Joe Maphus a Country Western guitarist back in the early 1950's. You can see him playing with Wanda Jackson in 1958 doing Hard Headed Woman and also with the Collins Kids doing duets with Larry Collins playing his double neck in 1959 Larry collins and Joe Maphis play live Ramrod. Check out those titles. The Collins Kids are about forgotten now but they were big and TV and cutting records before Elvis had been heard about.
The Eagles were such perfectionists - I saw them about 10 years ago and they sounded amazing. So yeah, seeing them live you’d get not just the energy of the performance, but a quality that is right up there with the studio versions. I was so lucky to catch them before Glenn Frey passed away.

Here's a couple of things you'll like:
Double neck guitar - Stevie Ray and brother Jimmie Vaughn playing "Pipeline".
The guy in the bandana, Joe Walsh -
"Funk #49"
"Rocky Mountain Way"
"Life's Been Good"
ha ha these guys taught me to sing...great song great performance
Phil Collins, Great singer and drummer there's so many
men the 70s rock paved the way. To all the younger generation --- listen to more of it, and you will find yourselves.
Another great song and band, love them. Glad to have now heard this.
I love you so much, dude! I love your reaction to this old-school music that happened before you were even thought of. Love you love you love you.
Profound lyrics, great music, unbelievable guitar duel..It is a forever song.
Never get tired of seeing reactions to this song. Perfect choice for a first time listening to this group. My faorite song by them. The fact that the drummer is singing lead catches everyone off guard.😂😂😂
The guitarintro is played on the twelve string topguitar on this doubleguitar. it is a masterpiece and i never get tired of listen to it. Nice to see the young generation enjoy this great music. There is al lot more to Discovery, happy Journey.
The Eagles is a wonderfully deep hole. Enjoy the dig!
Love the Eagles! I didn’t see this concert in DC… but I did catch them in DC about 10 years ago, before Glenn Frey passed away. They sounded amazing, put on one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
So cool 50 years later to see you GROOVE to the Hotel! I am too!
Thank u so much for enjoying this. ❤
This is and will forever be one of my favorite songs ever… I saw them live in 94 on their Hell Freezes Over tour and it was well past their prime, they had been broken up for years and they were older but still sounded soooo good! Thank you for your wonderful fresh reaction!
😊 it was a great concert too😊
Welcome to my youth! Many great songs from the 70’s, the Eagles are one of the best!!
A Mercedes Benz is a very expensive car.
@@user-tf9jb1in3k I know what a Mercedes Benz is. What I’m trying to say is that for some reason, the word “bends” is used in the lyrics to describe the woman. Maybe it’s saying that she rose to the top of society too fast, and misses her old self.
A Classic! Bravo! The lyrics paint a vivid image in your mind.
I was 15 when this song came out. I bought the album. I learned early what great rock and roll guitar was supposed to sound like.
Great reaction. That song sounds so much better live!! Thanks. Keep smiling👍🙂
The Eagles were such perfectionists - I saw them about 10 years ago and they sounded amazing. So yeah, seeing them live you’d get not just the energy of the performance, but a quality that is right up there with the studio versions. I was so lucky to catch them before Glenn Frey passed away.
@joeterp5615 That's awesome. So glad you got to see them. I miss Glen (R.I.P. )🙂
ICONIC!
The most powerful and poetic song I've ever heard...
I shot the sheriff by Eric Clapton live is fire 🔥
A+ reaction young man…this is my era..
You have to understand your not just hearing a drummer sing, this is a Multi talented and Rare band. Where they're all exceptionally great Singers and talented with their instruments. One of the best bands in my life time.
Welcome To The party, Man.
I'm 60. We grew up with the BEST music in the 70's. It was REAL. Love that you're experiencing this and digging it, too ♥️♥️♥️
