I was soooo obsessed with them from 2003-2006. It was amazing. I seriously considered dropping out of college and reaching out to them to try to be a roadie when they mentioned they needed one. They had a super hardcore fan base, people called us cult like.. and they weren't wrong lol One of the best nights of my life was meeting them in 2003 at a show they did at a really small venue in St Louis before they came up to Chicago. It was seriously like maybe only like 300 people in there. Then hung around and met with fans after. Got to meet and talk to them and got picture and a signed cd by all of them.
I remember an interview where Jimmy was asked about the different band members and how they work together. He talked about how he had some massive respect for Steve, and that he didn't get enough credit for the crazy shit he'd do. Jimmy once drank his own piss onstage, but then afterward Steve also drank Jimmy's piss, and Jimmy said something to the effect of "It's one thing for someone to drink their own piss, but for someone to drink SOMEONE ELSE's piss is pretty hardcore."
There was a short window where like EVERYBODY knew a Mindless Self Indulgence song. Their onstage antics and energy really catapulted them into the spotlight.
Max Devo the audience seems like “who the fuck are these people on stage” which is interesting to see vs their live concerts once they got big only a few years later.
I saw the Philly show on this tour. I was a junior in high school and my brother and I were very into Korn. When MSI came on, I had an out of body experience and fell madly and deeply in love with them. It was insane. I heard they got things thrown at them and I couldn't see any of that past the overwhelming joy that I was experiencing. I got the record the next day and listened to it like an addict. I'm thankful.
I got bored and did some research into when this show likely was. Korn didn't tour with MSI in 1999 as far as I could find, but they did in 2000 during the Sick and Twisted tour. At one point Jimmy mentioned there being a Britney Spears show the night before, looking that up I found the Oops I Did It Again tour, also in 2000. The only time during this tour that MSI was in the same area as Britney was the August 7th 2000 show when they both played California. Two towns a few hours apart. Korn and MSI played Bakersfield California that night, and Britney played Wheatland the night before. Other than that they weren't ever playing the same state one day after Britney.
Also when he tells the audience to buy his record, you can see he's throwing Frankenstein Girls into the audience, which didn't come out until February 2000. I couldn't find the Bakersfield show you were talking about, but all three of the California dates for that tour were just after that point.
@@Casketkrusher_ they did, there was a post on the korn website a while back actually stating J Davis' favorite band was MSI and favorite song was F@ggot. Believe me or not idc.
in their actual prime, the band became hella close with their fans and would stay hours after the show ended signing and taking pictures until there was literally no one left waiting. They are true masters at what they did.
@@ionanya hell yeah man!! You know what’s even crazier is that it was a completely FREE show! I had one more American friend from the navy with me along with my girl at the time and her best friend then there was like maybe 8 TOPS Japanese there. That was it! They did well. I saw their merch in Hot Topic years ago...
There was a short window where like EVERYBODY knew a Mindless Self Indulgence song. Their onstage antics and energy really catapulted them into the spotlight.
They were totally underground at this point. They had just signed to Elektra and it was actually Brian Welch himself who got them put on the tour.

Jimmy always made jokes about other bands in town. When he came to my town back in 2004 he made fun of Paramore and My Chemical Romance.
I highly doubt they openend for Korn as the video claims here, very weird choice if that was the actual case.
