    Thanks so much for this video! Had this happen to my Mk4 Mondeo with 160,000km on the Thursday before Easter, and because I had watched your video a few weeks earlier was able to get it fixed in time for the Easter road trip.

    8:43 Thank you for the tip! I didn't have the tap to remove copper washer. But I did had Steel threaded rod from Wickes) It does the same job, due the softness of the copper.

    GREAT video as always, if you could include the mileage on ALL the vehicles you work on, this would make it HELPFUL and useful to your viewers..........

    • @conorturton
      @conorturton 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trouble is that unless you're using the vehicle the same as they are the mileage is irrelevant. I hardly do any short journeys at all so some of the stuff he talks about has never happened, for example the clutch and DPF filter is still fine at 142,000 miles on mine.

    • @t5jerry
      @t5jerry 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@conorturton ...the reason I ask Alan to quote the mileage is simple, for example, if all MK4 Mondeo's had clutch problems between 140-170000 miles, when buying a MK4 Mondeo privately, you'd know to look if that car had recently had a clutch fitted or you'd be wary of that car 'potentially" needing a clutch.....yes, I know 1 clutch can last 200000 miles on 1 car and on an identical car, a clutch can last 10000 miles, but Alan's in the IDEAL position to make a database of all potential faults as he has had access to all high mileage Mondeo's over the years, in fact, his video's are detailed enough to make a DVD, let's face it he deserves to earn a few Bob out of it 😁😁😁😁

    Old video I know but I now have this exact issue. Looking left to right at the injectors from the front of the Mondeo 1 and 3 are clean, 2 and 4 are full of crap. When I removed the leak off pipes 2 and 4 sheared of in the injector, do you think the leak off pipes could have been the problem or is it still worth checking the washers too? I only knew because the car made a pop sound when I started the engine a few times, the top cover had about 4 holes blown in it. Great video by the way, it's helped loads.

    Since your short on things to make a video about, how about a look at the idle up / anti stall on the mondeo and transit. On the transit it operates both in and out of gear where as on the mk5 mondeo it only operates in gear, on our work transit it is out of sinc with the bite point, is there an adjustment ?
    With the keyless entery / ignition there is a key hidden inside the keyless thingy, does it actually fit anywhere ? How about dropping of a side skirt an refitting it ?

    On the 1.6 TDCI the studs that keep the injectors down are stretch bolts. That means one has to change them when refitting injectors. I suspect the studs to be too thin so even though they are tightened to their yielding point they still don't supply sufficient clamping force on the injectors. Maybe one can fit fatter studs?

      @@MrVicos i am not really familiar with the s max but worked on peugeot experts where the injectors were hard to get to. i would see if any of the plastic panelling at the base of the windscreen can be removed to gain better access or worst case you may have to use a mirror but i am sure there should be some panel around the wipers or lower screen that can be removed

    Thanks for the video , what a great job ! Just a quick question Alan I’ve done similar job to my Mondeo but the black plastic oring who sit in the top of injectors when I remove my injectors that plastic oring remains inside the hole is that correct? Coz your come out tougher with injector . Thank you

    • @alan4x
      @alan4x  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need to remove that spacer and clean the injector hole out as best you can. If the spacer is burnt and breaks up best just replace it

    Do you keep logs of the fuel economy? Or does it vary too much between drivers? Curious to know how the fuel economy has altered as the engines got "cleaner and more efficient". The MK4 YOU told me to buy is terrible compared to the MK3.
    (need to keep rubbing in that you told me to buy it) :) It must be good for the planet though only £30 tax...

    • @alan4x
      @alan4x  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      most drivers rent the cars and radios so pay for their own fuel but i have had no complaints about fuel consumption on the mk4.. have you checked the official fuel consumption figures for your car compared to what it is actually using

    • @WhiteDieselShed
      @WhiteDieselShed 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its just short journeys for me so the DPF probably gets a few regens, add its a heavier car than the MK3 so its inevitable. Are your video's turning into a secret love affair? :)

    • @alan4x
      @alan4x  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you get to do a long journey see what its doing then, i only drive 3 miles to work and back and my consumption in that van is bad but if i go for a long run its really good, no, i see the more people involved in making a video to add a bit extra to make it more interesting

I have a focus 1.8 tdci 2006 year bought it before 5 months i love ford cars have owned before but with this one not so happy. I havent managed to fix everything but i need an opinion from you because here in Albania is so difficult to find good car mechanics. When my car is warm and i turn ingition off if i try to restart sometimes long crank sometimes start right away. No error codes under the diagnose nothing. Have asked so many mechanics everyone explain different things. Sorry for the long explanation and thank you.

    I know that this video is nearly a year old but just watched it. A quick question on it. When you have the injector out, if you blow around the hole with an air gun, don’t you risk blowing any crap or debris into the cylinders. Thanks.

    • @alan4x
      @alan4x  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you have to do this and are concerned then put a pencil in the injector nozzle hole then blow an air blower in there and any debris should not enter the cylinder
