On paper it just looks like a name and a number so they don't really care about the reputation about particular beauty gurus unless they do something That's criminally scandalous and not just fibbing on a review

      I never trusted her from the beginning. Also sometimes I notice she uses filters on her face after she applies the makeup. That made distrust her even more. Every makeup guru is lying one way or another. Too much filtering and too much over exaggerating from all of them,

      There was a time when influencers would only promote what they liked and loved (throwback to “empties” vids). And as a product junkie myself, I get having several fave mascaras at the same time, for example. But this has been taken to the extreme for a check

    She has a manager and video editor. This went through at least three people on her end before it went to L’Oréal for approval. These companies, agencies and influencers all need to be held accountable for FTC violating false advertising.

    I feel like the ONLY one who never liked Mikayla in the first place. But now it solidified my suspicions. As a makeup artist if 11 years now i can say with confidence she has foundation underneath the powder. It’s ridiculous she keeps getting away with this!

      Yeah I couldn’t stand her either, I SWORE she was faking that damn accent, hated her personality, thought she was arrogant and brash… then the “salad” video surfaced, and people were questioning her accent and her integrity, then this, I feel vindicated lmao. I felt the same way about creepshow art, could never get into her content even though I wanted to like her, she just had that same underlying angry feeling to her content. Like she’s mad at the world so she’ll fake nice to make money and have status but will do anything for money and that status with zero guilt

      I had no clue who she was until Lashgate and I honestly don't understand what the appeal is.... I was legit SHOCKED when I found out that she's just 24 but imho she looks like she's over 30. Tbh she got so much filler she now talks with her bottom teeth exposed and it to me it made her look like she was wearing dentures, it ages her a lot imo. I’m 33 and she looks older than me.

And im sure she used to be a lil humble genuine creator. She wasn't that popular even like a year ago.       i recommend naomi jon. she’s not a makeup guru but she *is* an influencer and she doesn’t use filters when she applies makeup, to the point where you can even see patchiness and lifting around her lips and nose and the underlying texture of her face.
      it’s made me feel so much more secure in my face and pore texture because her skin looks *gorgeous*, but *real*.

    I saw this very same foundation clip in a video Tea Spill did. I said it there and I'll say it here; Mikayla is a liar. Even with my (inherently limited) knowledge of makeup, there is NO FEASIBLE WAY to get that much coverage from a powder. She had to use a liquid foundation first. Plus, the video cuts way too much to be believable. Am I missing something? Anyone care to tell me?

      Right. I don’t know how people are just now catching on to this because it’s been driving me crazy for a while now. If the powder was that insane in coverage a lot more people would have known about it before Mikayla came along. I mean, it’s Maybelline, like…lol. Or the fact that people buy the stuff she hyped and even if it’s good, it performs nowhere near the way she claims it does. Everything she tries is “🤯😱omg you guys 😳😱🫢 this is stunnin’ *fake laugh* you HAVE TO GO BUY THIS IMMEDIATELY.” Really? Every single product you try is so mind blowing amazing like…get real. Very few things are that amazing, makeup is just makeup.
      And people are delusional if they think Mikayla is the only one who does this stuff.

I'm a powder foundation person myself, and I usually get light to light-medium coverage. One FULL coverage foundation I wore was the KVD Lock-It and it was a hot mess... also was in the middle of summer too lol

    I think it’s horrible when beauty influencers lie. With how expensive it is now to just get groceries, makeup is a luxury a lot of people cannot afford and they trust influencers to show them where it’s ok to spend that $15-25 you have set aside for makeup.

    Being someone who has been obsessed with makeup for over 2 decades and have used all sorts of foundations, you can 1000% tell that Mikayla used some sort of full coverage liquid foundation over the original powder foundation. There is no question. Powder, even a powder to foundation formula does not sit like that on the skin. You can also see the very subtle dewiness to her skin as well which would be caused by a liquid foundation that she probably powdered over. She is a liar. Dont even get me started on the mascara...which I did purchase and try...

    When I saw the Maybelline video, I knew it wasn’t real. I have NEVER achieved that level of “clownish” coverage with just one product. Sus, I thought. Then L’Oreal debacle. I stopped following her, because I cannot trust her!

    So if people are doing reviews their shouldn’t be so many cuts. The point of a review is to see the product applied/ real time before and afters. So basically pointless.

    I don't watch most of these big time beauty gurus anymore because it's mostly like watching shopping channels on TV instead of real reviews. Mikayla is the tip of the iceberg at the moment, I really can't watch her. Unfortunately she's not alone and we have this problem with lying a lot when it comes to influencers.
    I support smaller creators and found some I really enoy.

    I have that Maybelline powder and it gave me zero coverage unless caked on…and it definitely felt caked. But honestly, I don’t EVER look to TikTok for real reviews of anything. EVERYONE on there seems to be allllll hype “OMG THIS IS AMAZING,” “YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS!,” “I’M OBSESSED,” “IT’S MY FAVORITE,” etc. etc. etc. nobody loves everything that much, but most “influencers” on TikTok sure seem to 😂

    Lol most of the Tik Tok Tutorial's are using the beauty filter which makes it hard to see texture and impurities the foundation might have. So it doesn't matter how little or how lot you put your make on. It'll look flawless always with the beauty filter. So it's not just Makayla who's lying, unless you train your eye's to spot the filter you won't notice.

    I’ve never heard of her before the lash incident, and I think that’s why it’s hard for me to care. A lot of tik tokers have even exposed themselves admitting that this isn’t a big deal, people lie all the time.

    The first time I ever saw her was on Facebook a while back. I didn't know anything about her at all. But, I scrolled after a minute or so bc something about her threw me off. Idk what it was, but I automatically didn't care for her. And I don't ever like to pass unfair judgment on people that I know nothing about, so I felt kind of bad each time I would see her pop up after that. Now, I know I was justified in how I felt. It's so crazy how your gut feelings operate sometimes.

    It’s disappointing but I think the fame truly got to her head and the paid sponsorships is what’s getting her the things she has today so of course she will lie about a product… it happens all the time, I feel like people are just now realizing that people lie about products when they are being paid to promote it. This was a huge issue on Instagram before with the weight loss supplements etc

    I have no idea why she did it.
    Once you put the first coat on it looks good.
    I would love to see the second coat of natural lashes.
    No matter what you shouldn't do it but it looks good enough so why take the risk?
    She even could have shown it naturally first and then showed it with some false eyelashes added. Showing how it looked both ways.
    Why take such a big risk?
    Side-note- I have some scarring on my face.
    For everyday I will wear light to medium foundation. When I go out I like full coverage.
    I bought the Maybelline Foundation that she was trying. It is not full coverage at all.
    It was ok for quick light coverage.
    Lol, Matter of fact, when I go out to an all-day event & I use a different full coverage Foundation & then I toss the Maybelline one in my bag, just in case shine & or touch up.

    I don't know what it is about Mikayla, but whenever her videos popped up on my FYP, she instantly made me feel uncomfortable.
    I don't know if it's the edits, how fast she talks, what she's saying, or the fact that her face doesn't move cause of all the filler. But my weird brain chemistry is just always like, "Nope nope nope."
    Could also be the fact that I'm so over this style of beauty "influencer". It's just...empty words. I also leave more confused. Cause how is it that people have such good outcomes with whatever they buy, but I've been let down so many times?

    I can’t stand her for some reason. She annoys me too much to be a follower because I always noticed something off in her reviews. Kinda happy people are finally holding her accountable.     Okay so I actually bought that product after I saw her video and although it is a great VERY FULL COVERAGE powder foundation, it does NOT work the way she portrayed it. Unless she had on eight layers it’s not the same product. 🤷🏾‍♀️

    I agree. Way before the mascara thing I never bought products that she alone recommended. I only watched her for her wicked cool accent and attitude. I have really bad eyes, so I only buy products (example: nyx concealer) if more than three people claim that it really works. I depend too much on other peoples advice on what my face truly looks like to depend on a gimmick. You know?
    My 💵 budget ain’t massive 😅lol.

    I have never trust influencer in the first place because lights filters and skin. Their skin is very smooth don’t have big pores so all the makeup people use never sits on my face the same. The only product I can trust are lip reviews

    I tried the method that she did with the maybelline 24 hour stay she said she applied it with a damp beauty blender so it definitely does give you a different coverage it looks darker and covers more if the sponge is damp but if the sponge is dry it will go on like everyone else’s and have a lighter look

    Honestly I first followed her bc of her personality. I could never recreate any of her looks. I wouldn’t go to her for advice or recommendations. She just seemed more real than other gurus but I see she’s had many fooled for a while..

    Except that mascara worked exactly the same when I used it on my lashes. People often think I have fake lashes and I've never worn them because I think they look horrible on women. As far as that powder, it completely hides my severe rosecea. It really is good. But my skin is too dry for it. So I stick to Clinique even better foundation and use the super stay for finishing.
