Man, you got some fresh opening credits! But I really missed the bits from the old version where we could see you wiping off a new close-to-be-finished board´s surface and doing the polish. I always found those tiny bits significant for your channel´s opener, because (in my humble opinion) they do not only establish you as a top-player, but also as a great artisan. Just sayin´...
Agree! Seeing behind the scenes like that brought a level of credibility to the fun, but in a different way than people just knowing you're an elite player.
Hello, I think there is one last rule related to shooting that I’ve been struggling to find an official (and enforceable) ruling on. In your “how to flick your disc” video, you say that sliding a disc is likely illegal because you’d probably still be in contact with the button when it is beyond the shooting line. In a different video on not hurting fingers, you recommend a shooting style where you start your finger close to the button and “make your shot more of a push.” My issue lies in the fact that I would think this pseudo flick/push hybrid could result in a player’s finger still being in contact with the button after crossing the shooting line. I game with a persnickety group of people and haven’t been able to give a good answer on what’s allowed or not. My general policy has just been to disallow anything that is blatantly pushing beyond the line but anything that generally looks like a flick is fine, even if they may or may not still be in contact beyond the shooting line since it would be a pain to monitor. Do you have any thoughts or recommendations on this rule?
I think that your approach mentioned near the end of your comment is the way to go. Even if I play against someone who puts their finger on top of the button like I suggest not to do I am not going to file a complaint or disallow their shot. I point it out because I feel that the ceiling of potential skill level is extremely low with that technique not because I think they have an unfair advantage. the number one rule in my mind is having fun.
Pretty much the only rule I let people violate is the one cheek rule because sometimes the chairs have arms and they are locked dead center in the chair. Most people just don't bother positioning anyway and just move their arm to the side and flick with a different finger. I've actually gotten good at that. But this video did lead me to some confusion. When you showed the shooter outside of your quadrant but touching the outer line and the quadrant line.... That's legit?
yeah, some chairs just are not good for following the one cheek rule. Re the confusion, yup. That is legit. if you are touching the shooting line and touching your quadrant or your quadrant line you are good to go. Happy flicking
Oh boy, now you’re going to have to make a YNCA video. You know that, right? BTW, dropping the 50% concept really makes the game more user-friendly and easier to teach.
Yeah that characterization with the person with a magnifying glass is too true. And please don’t flip another crokinole board! My heart can only take so much.
Clever girl :)

That's valid, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Maybe we will bring that back just for you :-)

I don't think you want me to sing or dance... to the YNCA or anything for that matter
