    this was all straightforward and clear to me. Probably because I binge-watched matches all weekend. Oddly enough, there was a guy looked a lot like you in several of the tournaments I viewed.

      did he look like me but just a titch younger? better looking? bigger beard? Shinier bald head? LOL.
      There are also some videos with a couple of young guys who look exactly like my sons... coincidence? I think not :-)

    The board arrived today. It’s beautifully made. Totally worth the $$$. Our house rules require the shooter to hold a beer in one hand, and we play NCA rules to 13 points with no limit on rounds.

    This was as funny as it was helpful. Thanks for the laughs!
    Also, a rule question: Do you have to declare a shooting hand or can you shoot with either hand?
    Ps. We just ordered a board from you!

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well thank you for the order, very much appreciated :-) you do not need to declare a shooting hand. I have seen people shoot with either hand. it can be a fun challenge to play with your non dominant hand. Awkward but fun LOL

    There are no blue discs on the board. I'm shooting green discs and i have one green disc touching the 15 line, if I make contact with the disc touching the 15 line but the shooting disc doesn't enter the center circle, my shot is valid as long as the disc that started on the 15 line is still within/touching the center circle?
    PS. Great video

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      as long as your shooter or any of your disks that were touched by the shooter end up touching or within the 15 circle you are good to go. if you were to hit it too hard and knock it out the other side and neither was touching or within the 15 then you'd take both buttons off the board.

    6:08 I thought everyone had 12 discs, not 8?

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of folks playing at home use 12 discs each. But at NCA singles events it is always 8 discs each.

    So I have a question real quick. If I have one puck on the board and no other opponent on the board if I shoot mine and I hit mine and the one that I shoot is outside the 15 zone not touching the line in the 15 is the one that I shot going to the ditch

    Can you choose to gutter a shot on purpose if shooting it would be too risky? Also, do you leave both discs as they are if, in the middle of the round, a disc lands perfectly on top of another? How would you score it if it stayed that way? Love the beard tricks in this, too!

    When we're shooting, if we hit the opposing color but do not end up in or touching the 15 ring with our own disc do we keep or remove our shooting disc?

  • @tyhggb
    @tyhggb 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What if you have a disc in the 15 already and no opponents discs. You touch the one in the fifteen but your shot doesn’t at least touch fifteen.

    • @tyhggb
      @tyhggb 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it good if you just touch a disc worth fifteen

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tyhggb that gets covered in Rule 3a) ii- the no hiding rule. Regardless of where your existing buttons are after you shoot either your shooter or a disc you touched with your shooter must be in or touching the 15 circle.

  • @chrisinch8446
    @chrisinch8446 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video. I'm hoping you can answer a question: is it necessary to "cock" your finger behind your thumb in order to initiate the flick, or can you extend your finger (without the use of your thumb) to flick? In short, does your finger need to be touching your thumb before a shot takes place, in order to be considered valid?

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hey Chris, there are no rules on this at all. Whatever you feel is going to give you the best shooting results. Personally, I ALWAYS use my thumb. Some of the top players never use their thumb and some only use it for power shots. Some players even use the edge of the board instead of their thumb. Hope that helps.

    Are 20's made safe after successfully making them or are they in danger of being removed if a foul shot is made?

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  ปีที่แล้ว

      when a 20 is sunk it gets removed and set aside to count at the end of the round. there is no way for that 20 to be taken away. I can be cancelled out by your opponent if they sink a 20 but it can't be taken away no matter how bad of a shot you make later in the round LOL

  • @Mentat1231
    @Mentat1231 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Since there are 4 rounds, what happens if I win 2 and my opponent wins 2? Do we play a 5th round to break the tie?

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      we have a video recorded about the different scoring options. it should be edited and released next week sometime. But the short answer is yes, you can play an extra round to break the tie. You can also just make it a race to 5 or 7 or 9 points or any number you'd like. I still prefer the 2 points per round scoring, I think it makes for more bold shot attempts near the end of a round :_)

    What's up with the dice tower music

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No idea. If we used music that is known to be attached to Dice Tower that was 100% accidental i promise. If memory serves we were using iMovie at the time and would have just grabbed some stock audio from within that application.

  • @shortydancer
    @shortydancer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jeremy, do you have any rules for playing with 4 players, but individually?

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are no NCA rules as it has never been an NCA game play. The biggest confusion i have seen surrounding this is about a valid shot. People will ask, do you have to hit the most recent shot or the highest value button on the board etc? I have always played that you just have to hit any opponent button on the board.
      Strategy changes because you want to get touch 20 and not take out 20s. It is also a much more offensive game, defense and hiding doesn't prove effective at all.

    Honestly think the rules we always play with are more different than they are the same. No tourneys in our future so I guess it doesn’t matter much. Long as you’re having fun.

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree 100%. I try to always say something about 'house rules' as I think the number one rule is to have fun and connect with the folks around the board.

    • @millsboy79
      @millsboy79 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TraceyBoards
      We don't play with the no hiding rule, also your shooter needs to touch the oppositions disc, if you touch one of your own first the shooter and all it touches or any other discs touched (of yours) are all cleared.
      Also we just play to 125, however many rounds it takes.

    • @TraceyBoards
      @TraceyBoards  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@millsboy79 so your shooter must make direct contact with an opponents disc? You cannot go through your own? I know folks who play by those rules. It definitely leads to different and fun challenges. Do you allow a player to stand their disc on edge and ping it so it spins? Sometimes that is the only possible way to make direct contact with an opponents disc on the far side.

    • @millsboy79
      @millsboy79 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TraceyBoards have ever tried that but we would be allowed. Either we try to smash it off the gutter and Bounce back on to make contact. That or just concede the turn and shoot into the gutter on purpose.

    • @alex8480
      @alex8480 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@millsboy79 so you play with a rule that allows for situations where the only option is to forfeit your turn? Damn, Tracey really came in with the most diplomatic way to respond to such a dumb rule that takes away so much skill and strategy from the game
