So . . . When the natural angle is not there, your pace control could make it work?
Ive been playing for years and not a bad player generally but I've always struggled with doubles (i tend to hit most shots soft) and just thought it was just poor aim, I never actually knew this made such a big difference. Thanks!!
You're welcome
was looking forward to Mick addressing the doubles and trebles
i always worry too much about angle when playing doubles and often goof them up
it's only when i just feel the shot, instead of overthink it, that it becomes clear speed is the most important aspect of a double shot
thanks Mick for pointing us all in the right direction once again !
I never realised the speed made such a difference, thanks for a very helpful video. Im enjoying all of yours
Glad you like them!
Amazing, thanks Mick!
My pleasure!
Another excellent video. As you say the cloth, cushions, balls also make a difference as well as the conditions. I’m finding that the balls are coming off faster in this very warm weather. Also use this technique to try to escape from snookers. The most difficult aspect for a amateur like me is not potting it but playing position for the next shot - as there is a certain speed that I feel confident of potting doubles!
Some fantastic advice yet again. An some great points for when playing the double. Thanks Mick.👍
You're welcome
Excellent video again Mick. I’ve struggled with doubles for a while and this will help loads. Many thanks 👏🏻👍🏻
Happy to help
Brilliant video as always mic, I swear ur Gary Barlows brother from another mother 🤣👍
😂
Hi Mick, sometimes when I play doubles with top I get a double kiss. Obviously pace related. Great video again
Thanks for a great video Mick. I play in the Birmingham Pool League and in some Black Ball tournament in the area. Your tips have helped me.
Glad they have proven helpful.
Thank you Mick that was brilliant, answered so many questions. Sometimes I hit a double and think how have I missed that high/low I’ve hit it in the right place. Now I know why, thank you Mick
Glad it helped
Thanks for that video, i didn't know that, i always thought i missed them because i got the angle wrong.
Glad I could help
Thanks again Mick👍🎱👍
No problem 👍
I learnt from yr videos thanks
Glad they are useful to you.
Great tutorial and well demonstrated as always! 🎱
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent video Mick, my favourite player!
Many thanks!
Love it! 🙏 , a video on developing problem balls would be very helpful to ❤
Noted!
Awesome as ever. 😁👏👍
Thank you so much 😀
Good stuff Mick 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
💯Double not on , make it on. shorten the angle with speed. Nice video Mick✅
Thanks 👍
Many thanks for this insightful video! I was noticing this when playing on the more supreme tables and thought it was an incorrect contact point rather than speed, will give this a go.
A suggestion from me: I would love a tutorial on the skill/combination shot. From my World Rules background, it was not a shot I needed to practice, unlike in International Rules where it becomes an important option when making a clearance. Even when I put back spin on the shot, it does not always go in, it seems to be more important to use the right pace. Would love to hear your thoughts on it!
Thanks. Got an intro one coming up
Hello pal,I've told people for year's to watch how you go round your dish.about time you done your own channel ❤❤
Thank you
Love your videos, for some reason they are so different to all the other tutorials (in a better way). What is your opinion on using the mirror system played at medium pace?
Thanks. I don’t use the mirror system.
You're a good snooker player too. I vividly remember hardly getting a shot 😄
Thanks!
Also Mick I heard a rumour you might be coming to Australia. Any plans to visit Brisbane in your travels? Q-Masters in Brisbane is home to some great Australian talent.
Yes, October. Updates are on Facebook
Awesome!!!
Excellent video mick, wounder what is your view on playing cue ball with side spin does it transfer to the object ball thanks again
keep things simple.
One question? Can Yiu do more videos please. Really enjoying them
Yup. 👍
Nice video 👍
Thanks 👍
Thanks for the video. Just for reference, where was your chalk positioned, is your starting angle like an isosceles triangle? Also I was wondering if you have any advice for avoiding double kisses? Should one widen the angle and hit it harder? Play with draw etc? What about avoiding double kiss on a cross double. Final question; how do you double a ball when it's near the curved part of the middle pocket. It seems like it would be quite random which way it banks in that case.
We will go into more detail on future videos. 👍
Could you do a video on how to practice straight cueing
On the list already to be covered. 👍
Hi Mike. Can you do a video on cross back doubles please.
Noted, thanks for the suggestion
Also can the speed of the table and the cloth change how hard or soft u play the double??
So for example if the table is slow and the cloth is wearing out do u play the double firmer even if by rights it should go low.
Table, balls, cloth and cushions can all have an effect.
Ok thank you for the tips. That is very insightful information to know.
Does same apply if doubling into corner bags off the side cushion
Yesssir
Its alot harder but aye the principles are the same for corners
Yup
I always thought the key to playing doubles was finding someone better than you and going partners with him😂
😂
@@mickthemachinehill Mick, will you be my doubles partner? Please check out my channel, I'm half decent
Looks like there’s about 6 inches of difference between slowest vs hardest shot
Cushions and cloth also make a difference, and if the balls are polished too.
@@mickthemachinehill wow. Maybe that’s another vid you can do sometime about polished balls. Never knew that
Hey Mick.....I'm really struggling with mental confidence and keeping my passion and hunger for the game. I've had success in State teams and won many important tournaments and I don't really want to give the game away, but the pressures to perform and get results are really affecting my game. Has this happened to you over the years and how do you deal with mental toughness and keeping the want to play? Love the vids mate.
It can be a tough game sometimes, let my try and address your question in a future Q & A video.
@mickthemachinehill Thankyou Mick. That would be great..... I appreciate your response.
Question can you use the parallel shift idea on offset doubles or am I talking gobbledegook 😊
Yes. We have a few videos coming up on this.
