    So . . . When the natural angle is not there, your pace control could make it work?

    Ive been playing for years and not a bad player generally but I've always struggled with doubles (i tend to hit most shots soft) and just thought it was just poor aim, I never actually knew this made such a big difference. Thanks!!

    was looking forward to Mick addressing the doubles and trebles
    i always worry too much about angle when playing doubles and often goof them up
    it's only when i just feel the shot, instead of overthink it, that it becomes clear speed is the most important aspect of a double shot
    thanks Mick for pointing us all in the right direction once again !

    Another excellent video. As you say the cloth, cushions, balls also make a difference as well as the conditions. I’m finding that the balls are coming off faster in this very warm weather. Also use this technique to try to escape from snookers. The most difficult aspect for a amateur like me is not potting it but playing position for the next shot - as there is a certain speed that I feel confident of potting doubles!

    Many thanks for this insightful video! I was noticing this when playing on the more supreme tables and thought it was an incorrect contact point rather than speed, will give this a go.
    A suggestion from me: I would love a tutorial on the skill/combination shot. From my World Rules background, it was not a shot I needed to practice, unlike in International Rules where it becomes an important option when making a clearance. Even when I put back spin on the shot, it does not always go in, it seems to be more important to use the right pace. Would love to hear your thoughts on it!

    Thanks for the video. Just for reference, where was your chalk positioned, is your starting angle like an isosceles triangle? Also I was wondering if you have any advice for avoiding double kisses? Should one widen the angle and hit it harder? Play with draw etc? What about avoiding double kiss on a cross double. Final question; how do you double a ball when it's near the curved part of the middle pocket. It seems like it would be quite random which way it banks in that case.

      Also can the speed of the table and the cloth change how hard or soft u play the double??
      So for example if the table is slow and the cloth is wearing out do u play the double firmer even if by rights it should go low.

    • @mickthemachinehill
      @mickthemachinehill  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Table, balls, cloth and cushions can all have an effect.

    Hey Mick.....I'm really struggling with mental confidence and keeping my passion and hunger for the game. I've had success in State teams and won many important tournaments and I don't really want to give the game away, but the pressures to perform and get results are really affecting my game. Has this happened to you over the years and how do you deal with mental toughness and keeping the want to play? Love the vids mate.
