    Nice review, that’s an awesome gripping station. I have a smaller model made by GolfWorks where the grip slips into a plastic tray which mounts to a vice in my case mounts to a portable work bench. The shaft gets slipped into the grip while it’s held in the tray, when you lift up the shaft, the club pops out of the plastic holder.
    Only drawback is The alignment is hard to get with this model. Almost always have to reposition the grip by eye after I remove it from the tray.

    Highly recommend investing in a handheld butane torch. Makes the tape come right off.

    Nicely done BUT all of that solvent means slow drying time. I use compressed air (PUR Grip installer) and only 2 sprays of solvent. The air seats the grip fully and blows out excess solvent = faster dry time. I use the same drip tray and reuse the captured solvent. Faster install time and quicker dry time. The only time I use a lot of solvent is for oversize putter grips.

    That regrip Ping work station is awesome....surprised u did not use an air gun to put grip on easier than muscling it on?

    Thanks Andrew, that was very interesting. I have played with a 3 tapes for my top hand and 4 for my bottom hand for years. But I`m thinking of trying out some Jumbo grips this season, to see if they will help with my arthritis.

      Thicker grips certainly can work for these problems. My advice would be to just get one club say a 7 Iron done and see how it works. Best regards Andrew.

      Bandit...I have moderate arthritis in both my hands and fingers, tendinitis / carpal tunnel occasionally from repetitive stress...retired computer professional w way too much keyboard use...I got into golf in my late 50s...Golf gurus said I had to “calm” my fingers and hands...start w a putter to notice the biggest gains. I use a SuperStroke Fatso grip...the say not ...to wrap fingers completely around the grip, hands not so Superman tight. It is not perfect but it helps, I put a SuperStroke Flatso on my other putter. Kinda skeptical w bigger grips on my drivers, woods, irons and wedges...like Andrew suggest...maybe one bigger grip at a time...especially since fatter SuperStroke and othe brand grips are NOT cheap!

    "Toe up, absolutely square". Looking at the club in your vice you have the top edge perpendicular to the ground (dead vertical) but is that 'square' as it looks pretty closed? Wouldn't you want the leading edge (or even bottom set of grooves) to be vertical? How do you define 'square' for a club like a driver which often has a curved face? A specific video on getting the club set square on the vice (particularly for different shape club heads) would be very useful - including a 'down the line' shot.

    Andrew, a couple of questions bf I embark on my regripping journey. 1) With a graphite shaft and removing old tape. Is it then a total manual process as I don't think you would want to use a blade on the graphite? 2) I will be using a vise so do you have any recommendations for alignment beyond a good set of eyeballs? Thanks,

    • @andrewainsworth497
      @andrewainsworth497  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joe, would go with the manual peeling on graphite shafts. If using clamp and vice set the club with toe up. Work with the alignment marks top and bottom on the grips to set grip. Good luck. Andrew.

    Great little video and thanks for sharing. Do any of your customers ever request to have their grips installed with compressed air? That's my preferred method when I do my own clubs.

    • @andrewainsworth497
      @andrewainsworth497  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, never used compressed air to install grips, does the process work well for you? Regards Andrew

    • @2Bad.
      @2Bad. 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been doing it now for about the last 2 years. With a quick clamp grip vise like the one in your video I can remove and replace a grip in well less than 30 seconds. Personally I will never go back to tape and solvents except for certain type of putter grips. The other advantage is that when you make hosel/loft adjustments you can realign the grip in a matter of a few seconds. Now when I order new clubs I always ask them to just put the grips in the box. I believe that vast majority of people who try this technique never go back to the old method.

      I have been using the air method also and haven't had a problem. The one thing I didn't see was if you removed the paper from the tape? Is it ok to leave the paper backing on?? Thank you, I always look forward to your videos.

    I never know whether you need to remove the backing on two sided tape to expose the second side of sticky?! Common sense says of course you do, but I never see anyone do it in any gripping videos.... help.... I can see advantages to not doing it, a thicker build up of tape, perhaps easier to position the grip or remove it before it dries. I don't know what I'm saying.

    • @andrewainsworth497
