Since I do not have a bench clamp, I use a "Quick-grip" bar clamp to hold the shaft clamp and club onto a table or bench. Re-gripping your own clubs saves time, money and makes you more in tune with your bag. Arnie use to do his grips. So can you.
@trottiegolf Great content, thanks again for the tutorial with Mr. Wade Liles. 4:45 Sorry Tiger, you're gonna have to wait a few minutes lol. Keep up the great work #TourTruckTuesday
It is easy, don't be shy with solvent and you will be fine. If you don't use enough the grip can get stuck halfway through and you will have to cut it off.
For anyone that watches this, you dont need a fresh grip every time you change your loft sleeve setting. You can remove the existing grip with a needle and 10ml syringe filled with your choice of grip solvent... SImply poke the needle into the grip about 2 inches from the butt at a 30 degree angle, with the tip of the needle facing the tip of the shaft. Inject the solvent slowly and you'll see a small bubble of fluid form. Keep slowly injecting the solvent and the bubble should work its way around and down the grip. Take your time so that the solvent doesn't race toward the end of the grip before working it's way around the grip. After 15-20 seconds of continuing the nice slow injection, the solvent should make its way out of the end of the grip at which point you can give the grip a bit of a twist and remove it. Apply new tape and then follow the process of reinstalling your grip.
Just watched a video using small air compressor to change the grip and they didn’t use double sided tape at all. Do you recommend using double sided tape on all clubs? I would think the grip might twist on the club if you hit the ground or miss hit the ball. Thanks for you input. Great video.
I put a T in the hole in the grip. Pour solvent in the grip and shake it. Then pour the solvent out onto the grip tape with a catch can under the tape. Slide grip on and no mess or overspray.
I’ve regripped so many clubs in my life, both for my own stuff and while working at a golf shop, but I still watched this from start to finish. Why wouldn’t you watch a free tutorial from the best?! The heat gun is the best tip in the whole video btw, unless you really enjoy blisters on the most used part of your thumb! Curious what they would have said about build up tape... I’m pretty sure they use single sided tape for the build up layers and only double sided for the top layer.
Hey Trottie! Huge fan you are the man and I know your channel is going to get huge. Keep posting the great stuff. As a huge club nerd (and computer manufacturing engineer by trade) I am super meticulous about my build spec accuracy and cosmetics. What adhesive remover would you suggest to remove grease and oils after gripping/shafting processes?
I regrip my clubs in the bathtub with no vice. Non-toxic solvent of course. Only screwed it up a couple times with the grip sliding on halfway and then getting stuck. 😂
@@trottiegolf well it didn't hurt to ask... lol it Rocks!!! Keep up the awesome information... would be awesome to meet you some day.. do live in nor cal
Hey Mate, when I measure the butt end on my clubs I have 3 sizes. To make all my grips the same thickness I need 3 tapes on wedges, 2 on my irons and 1 on woods/ rescue. Is this normal?,what do you guys do?? Cheers.
Not something we see.... sometimes we see thicker driver shafts and we compensate. I would only do this if you have the ability to digitally measure the width.... good luck
Wish I had watched this video rather than following the instructions in my Amazon kit. 1 - I overpaid for "solvent" when I could've used mineral spirits, but more importantly 2 - I didn't do the last step of pounding on the butt tip. Now I've got a 7 iron with a lovely MCC+4 Midsize grip that's just barely not on all the way, causing my Arccos sensor to be looser than intended :(
I don't wanna sound an ass but you don't need a vice and not many people have them.... You need grip tape, a Stanley knife, and some white spirit.... Oh and a new grip, that's it.... 🤷🏼♂️ You can even save your old grip with a car compressor pump and some perseverance....... 👍🏻👌🏻
Ummm love the videos. Any real golfer should know who to re-grip their clubs. Saving a grip is a challenge because you switch the sleeve now the grip has change but you don’t wanna get a new grip just use the same one. As a Club Repair guy it’s what I do a lot of the time. Also.....Tiger......like this guy would tell Tiger he’s filming.......🤣

I learned how to re-grip clubs back in the late 70's, been doing my own (and my friends and family) ever since.
Love the use of a spray bottle to apply the solvent. Will give it a go 👍
Fun... You make it seem so easy!! Might try on an old club first!

Nice video, every once in a while I do not get the grip all the way down so the grip cap is on. Thanks for reminding us to tap that down.
These videos are absolutely fantastic. Seriously great insight into the tour and what goes on behind the scenes for you guys! Keep it up :)
What a fantastic video Sir

Just found your channel and your vids are awesome and so inspiring!
Last 4 clubs I’ve done have been in the car park at work with one of my colleagues!!!
Great video

I think you can get away with not using double sided, obv I like our method
Great video as always! How do you ensure the driver face is perfectly lined up at 12:00? The bulge and roll always makes me second guess myself.
Tough one, you have to take the middle
Point of the face, use a sharpie to mark it if you have to....

Old skool PLYR’s single sided, new skool double sided 👍🏻

Thx - 1 two side adhesive tape, 1 build up
@@trottiegolf is your buildup thicker than your two sided? Or is it purely preference from habit?

Holy TW retro polo! Nice!!!!
re did all my clubs yesterday. The tape came off with the grips so didn't have to take off the tape that made it so easy lol
Hey Trott, what grips do you guys use most on the truck?
Prolly still Tour Velvet, multi compounds are also popular

Where do can you buy the shaft clamps?
Golf wrx or Mitchell
How long after putting the grip on would you say the club is playable?
By the time we walked it to the range.... (5/10 mins) the mineral spirits dry extremely quickly
What ⏰ does Tommy go with?
11.30 with a square face 👍🏻

Before you regrip….wash and scrub the grip with soap and water. Then ask, “ do I need to regrip?”
