@@mannysmiclocker Yes, this is one of the two use scenarios I mentioned, and the only one that makes sense, presuming the venue has an analog board with direct channel outs or 24 busses.
Another use case is simply people that want to record live bands that don't like using a computer/recording software, and people that have a limited budget since you can literally pick up an old analog console for $500 (or even less) and have a very decent recording rig for under $2,000. @@poxcr connect your preamps, a recording console, or even just a basic mixer ? i'd like too see how easy this is to do ? where is a basic mixer that has DB-25 HOOK UP ?
I wouldn't call it an "interface". I'd call it what it really is ....a 24trk recorder....24 analog in/24 analog out. And at about the same size as the old Tascam Midiizer! :)
It is an audio interface. You can send / receive 24 channel audio to any DAW. I’m at a loss as to why they didn’t include master out to go to speakers but everything else makes sense.
What you’re saying is probably true but the fact that it was made to be more of a tool for a recording enthusiast, and it leaves the name and the options open for people to be creative with it. I think he just wanted to put this in different hands and have people run with it.
@@AxeRocker88 thing is you can hear each individual track, but they have masters out going to speakers would not give the full picture. It’s not a mixer doesn’t have pan knobs or feeders so there’s no way to control the sounds that are coming through it all at once, so if you want to monitor, I guess you could somehow figure out some thing within the patchbay to be more elaborate but yes, it’s not a mixer, but it’s a recorder in its simplest form

@@mauchkimberly It has 24 inputs and 24 outputs on DB25 connectors that you can use to connect your preamps, a recording console, or even just a basic mixer if all you want is to mix outside the box. For example you could send up to 24 individual tracks (or stems) to a mixer, and then record the mixer master out back into your DAW. You can also record directly to the Studio Bridge if you wanted to, completely ditching your DAW.
@@poxcr connect your preamps, a recording console, or even just a basic mixer ? i'd like too see how easy this is to do ? where is a basic mixer that has DB-25 HOOK UP ?
@@christopherdunn317 Just use plain ol' DB25 to TRS snakes.
can you punch in on this?
@@ProfessorRedShoes1 yes as it has a play / record layout like a tape machine.
Can't even find a U.S. seller and no price info on the U.S. Tascam site. Weird.
@@SteveTheDiva I’m one of the first to have a unit. It’s barely getting launched so I got a first US test drive and appreciated via Tascam.
@@SteveTheDiva They appear to be currently in stock on Amazon!
@@poxcr Thx. $999, exactly what I expected the price point to be.
Sounds Distorted
3:36 is so not true. It was a sales pitch. You can get 24 in to your computer very inexspensively. That figure. $$$$ lets do some A/B tests for those claims. That is a nice looking recorder. the cost for people is all the preamps and mixer... so $$$$ that is the conversation... after that A/B test!~ ;)
@@morbidmanmusic thank you for sharing but I completely disagree with you. This is a unit that could be an every club across America because it just runs off a piece system and you can record live bands. Even rehearsal rooms you could be using it for recording sessions more for pre-production that’s my feeling I spoke the truth there and I don’t really do a sales pitch. I used it and I liked it but everybody has an opinion. Thank you so much for sharing.
This the best they could come up with ? Ya i looked this all up um ? wow this is not really anything good ? what were they thinking, each dp25 cable going to cost like 70 a piece not to mention you need a huge mixer ?and i looked up the specs might as well buy the old ones they came out with a few years ago i'll just stick with my dp24 and my Roland vs-2480 now thats a machine they seem to be lazy to make now !
@@christopherdunn317 I did enjoy recording band and hearing results. Lots of people out there not interested in computer recording as this is kinda old school Tascam Styles.
@@mannysmiclocker Oh no i didn't mean that, but i thought after the latest mixers there would be sort of a better porta studio but it looks like that cheap LCD again, and you have to buy all the cables for that ? id rather buy there high end recorder with the dp25 cables i'll just stick with my tascam dp24
@@christopherdunn317 I've been at this since the 70's. Soldering is a fundamental studio skill. This way you can mix and match connectors to the DB25 anyway you want.
My 20+ year old mackie HDR24 does everything this does…. Nothing new to see here.
@@joecandy6490 thanks for sharing J!
True, but they are hard to find, go for around $1500 - $2000 used and they don't include a 24/24 interface you can use with a DAW.
Can it connect to outboard gear and sum?
@@wakinglife7065 It is just an interface/recorder with 24 inputs and 24 outputs. It can connect to anything you want, including a mixer for analog summing/mixdown, that's what makes this thing great!
Just Book a session with Manny.
@@crymearobot Ha totally! Thank you✔️⚡️🎯
Still not as powerful as the Roland VS2480 with automated mixing. No editing features either.
Good! So don't get one. This was never intended to be a standalone workstation anyway.
nifty! we're going to try it out. i want to stop using avid in the worst way. my tech says it will hook right up to our rupert neve 5088.
@@MediaWest like a picture it will capture sound and how cool to tell a artist we will always be recording!
