I just tried gel nail polish because I went on a long trip and did not wanted my polish to come out, but I am going back to the salon to take it off and just apply regular nail polish until my next vacation. I have natural nails that grow really fast and with the gel nail polish people think they are acrylic. I often do my own nail polish at home but do not use the gel ones. Thanks for the different methods. I will take them into consideration if I decide to buy gel nail polish. This year I will like to learn to do my own nail design.
Thank you for sharing this info. I'm going to try these methods. Like many of the commenters, I got a gel polish manicure for the first time 3 weeks ago & I had no idea that peeling the polish off would be so difficult or damage my natural nails. 🙄 😒 I can't afford to go to a salon every 2-3 weeks, so this will be my last time getting gels.
thank you so much! And a tip! You can combine the tegular aluminium method with putting the lil clips so the acetone doesnt evaporate and the foil doesnt come off!!
If you put the gel on your natural nails you don't have to use acetone. You can just soak them in warm water. First you have to get that top layer off like the lady did in this video.
I think it’s a matter of wait in the beginning or wait in the end, so with regular polish, you have to wait in the beginning and with gel polish to wait in the end.
I just put gel nail polish on and I kept messing up and am now stuck with bumpy ruined nails that won’t come off. I don’t even have acetone…..I’m never doing gel nails again
@@kixz_16labon89 If you file that top layer off and soak your nails in warm water it will come off. I soaked then scraped, soaked and scraped. It will come off.
I did Method 2. It works! You just need to be patient and watch a series or something, but the gel will melt off. Scraping and filing helps with stubborn parts. Definitely, spread the cotton as she demonstrates.
I got a set of silicone nail soak off caps from Amazon and I love them. They are easy to put on and they prevent the acetone from evaporating. They aren't bulky, and allow you to use your fingers.
Thank You so much for your video! I had gel nails for the very first time and was trying to wipe the polish off with my acetone remover, but realized that it’s not that simple. A FEW of my gel nails were easy to peel off with no problem. Trying to get the other 2 off is challenging
Thank you SO MUCH Ms. Gabby! What a great summation of the methods for us newbies. 🙃I just applied at-home gel polish to my finger nails (to try and break a habit of picking at my nails) last night and am amazed at how well it went and looks. This morning, it dawned on me that all these layers of lovey gloss were going to need to come off at some point in time...and now I can be prepared! To me, the finger trays look like the simplest, so I will try that first. I will definitely stick with orange sticks for the "scraping," based on your recommendation.
I recently bought a used ice tray at a thrift store to try insteac of buying a tray. I like the idea of the cotton balls in addition to the tray. it worked but the acetone also ended up on my skin which kinda surprised me.
Thank you! This was really informative....ive just bought a gel nail kit and excited to do my own nails, but didnt know much about taking them off ! Wish me lucj 😊
@gabby, you can add some coconut oil to the cotton buds or the wipes to prevent your nails drying out due to the acetone. it really helps and prevents that dryness of the nails. 🤗
Mylee gel remover in a bottle is a game changer, remove top coat with file, paint on like nail polish, watch it bubble up and scrape off after 10 mins.....
This comment is more helpful than the video - I love doing gel at home it looks amazing and lasts well but it’s a pain to remove I just ordered this so we’ll see how it goes!! Thanks!!
Hi, I’m a nail artist content creator so I don’t have time to soak off my nails or file them. I heard about the liquid latex as a peel off base coat to remove the gel polish easily. Did you try this method? Thank you ☺️
I bought some that brush on gel remover that breaks down the polish, but I'm wondering what it will do to the poly gel or hard builder gel. Havent tried it yet.
Can i just file them off completely, or do i have to do the soak off? And if i have a nail polish remover that had acetone in it, can i just let them sit in that? Also, can i just dunk my nails in a cup of acetone or does it have to be the cotton soak?
Dollar tree have these little things for soaking of polish and artificial nails. The only thing is, they only come 5 to a pack. They work really well too!
How do you keep your nails from breaking? I have THICK strong nails, but once I get them all to a point that I love the length, one of them always breaks! Your nails are perfect in every video. Do you just not paint your hand with a broken nail on video?
I’m just really careful with my nails! I try not to use them as “tools” to open things and I try not to submerge them in water too long! Keeping product on your nails will help to act as a barrier and avoid breaks too
Mine usually just hurts peeling off after a couple days when that happens I peeled off the rest of the way go buff my nails out reapplied a different colour. I’m doing all the steps right it’s just the way I prefer to do it. I don’t like doing all those extra stuff that you guys do because I hate absolutely despise 100%makes me cringe the feeling of cotton
hi! So you want to grab a bag and put some acetone and a paper towel at the bottom of it. Then you’re going to take the whole bag and place it into a bowl of warm/hot water. Then put your hand into the bag. I hope that helps!
Its really not the product that damages the nails, its the prep and removal process. They can all be done safely without damage, and they can all cause damage
By far acrylic is the most damaging to your natural nails. With acrylic you need to file a lot of the surface of your natural nail and when you take the acrylic off it weakens your natural nails and causes a lot of damage. Gel UV polish, Dip, nail tips & press ons are the least damaging to your natural nails.
I got a soak off bowl, but it's a bowl with an insert so you can reserve the acetone. Wish it had a lid so it could just stay in the bowl. Maybe one of those stretchy silicone lids would work! 😁

Try not to peel off gel polish! It rips off the top layer of your nail, causing damage, and pain under the UV lamp.

Secret:
Buff down the polish on your nails
Then rub Vaseline over all your nails
Now file each nail
And voila!

This is dope! Very informative!! I'm tired of paying so much in nail salons. Thx sooo much!! I'm definitely buying items that support you!

Thank you!!! I recently bought a UV lamp and gel polish and I was struggling to get the polish off- so this is really helpful!
So glad this helps you!
This was extremely helpful as I ruined my nails trying to do it without research!!!!
I use the foil and the clips. I put the clips over the foil to keep the foil on better.
I didn’t think of that! I like that idea
LOL I give up...I'm going to the salon to get it removed
Thanks for this it’s super helpful! I’m def going to try as I have gel currently on my nails rn!!
Got so mad after 2 hours couldn’t take them off. So glad I found this
Tysm for the tips for next time
I use the hand in bag into the hot water method its easier for me considering I'm still tryna get use to the e.file
Without foil? Just remover and then bag and hot water?
Great video! Very thorough!

That would have been useful before i already did my nails.
Just had gel polish done 2 hours ago and i hated the salon and the result so i just want to take it off. Thanks for the video!

What a great and informative video!! Thank you!
The 180 file is a MUST for at home gel removal!!! If you don't have one....ORDER ONE ASAP!!
how long soak nails in acetone
What is the foils that you got on Amazon? What are they called?
Great video! Very informative.

THANK U FOR THIS I WILL DO IT TOMORROW
Pro tip: cut your nails first, breaks the seal on the top and it really helps it lift off of the nail!
So many choices. Thanks.
should the nails feel a bit rough after removing the gel? 🤔
Just what I needed 👍 Thanks
At this point, it's so time consuming, I am done with gel.
the hand in bag in water worked for me! Thanks 😊
I didn't get the method with the water, remover and bag please

The foil works best for me, but while I was researching this for any improved methods, I scraped the gel of my toes with my fingernails
Too late lol I cut my nails then got the cutter and started taking them out my nails might be ugly but they will be better
I so struggle with this! I’ve just started doing mine at home and removing is the worst part. What is everyone doing for their feet???
DAMMIT I START MY NEW JOB IN THE MORNING AND MY GEL NAIL POLISH FOR THE BEYONCÉ CONCERT IS STILL ON DJDJJDJ

thank you!
Thank you so much!! I'm off to soak my toes...😊
Of all the styles you’ve done on your nails (gel, dip, acrylic, nail tips, press ons), what do you find to be the most damaging?

gracias!!!!
My nails cant handle files. No doubt my nails are strong as hell but the moment i use one it breaks past the tip of my finger
Thanks Gabby !!!
you’re welcome!!
Ok but I’m in round 3 of one hand and nothing is working

so glad it helps!
I tried gel manicure for the first time and this will be my last time ever. My nails look horrible after removal.
Me watching this while literally flaking off my gel polish 😭
And why all this trouble 😮 for what
They did my nails at the salon so dirty omg
😍😍😍😍
Taking it iff. Never again. Anyway having amazing coloured nails nothing special anymore. Every second person has them
Y’all in the comments are sooo lazy 😂 it’s not even that much work
Instructions unclear: i just synthesized 22,4 liters of mustard gas
It does great job removing the Polish tho
