  • We went deep into the hills of Cebu Philippines today. Just outside of Cebu city you can experience some real local village life. We also got to explore the temple of Leah which was a fascinating place with some astounding views over all of Cebu. If you're planning a trip to Cebu city then give this area a visit, you won't regret it.

You should have rented a scooter and explore the mountains of Cebu island. The entire Cebu island is crisscrossed by mountain roads, most of which are paved, passing through scenic passes, ridges, lush green valleys, quaint and picturesque farm villages, waterfalls, scenic peaks, etc. Cebu is the only island in the Philippines where well-paved mountain roads connect all towns and cities from east to west coasts.

Cebu is a mountainous island with just a small portion of plains or flat lands that"s why the local government is building reclamation for business development like the South Road Properties where the Sinulog festival was held. Past the Temple of Leah far ahead is the Trans Central Highway where you can see foggy mountains and the temperature is relatively cooler.

The best way to eat star apple is to take out the pulp and mix it with milk and crushed ice in a bowl. Then basically eat it like it's cereal. It's called "lamaw" in the local language and is also the usual way of eating young coconut and avocados. Star apple is actually a Mexican fruit. It was brought to the Philippines in the 1600s by the Spanish, in the same way that the Spanish also brought mangoes, bananas, sugarcane, rice, tamarind, and coconuts to Mexico from the Philippines.

Also a correction: Romans were actually the first civilization to start building with concrete. The word "cement" comes from Latin. But their methods were lost to time. Roman cement is incredibly strong and scientists have been trying to recreate it for modern buildings. The Pantheon of Rome is the most famous structure to be built with Roman cement. It's a dome, and it's still standing after almost 1,500 years.

I think the Department of Tourism is doing its best to promote our country. They put up promotions in other countries like the UK and the United States. Our country has a lot to offer but we have to agree that there are plenty of challenges to face. One of these challenges are flight connections to major cities around the world, infrastructure issues (terrible international airport in Manila, poor road maintenance, poor internet connection in comparison to other SEA countries), and we are competing with Thailand and Indonesia which are cheaper countries but offer better tourism facilities. It's not just about the DOT, the government should work together to improve our country.

She's not a saint. And it's not a temple. LOL. There's no need to be so reverent. She's the wife of a prominent businessman who built this in honor of her after she died. The displays are basically all her favorite stuff and collections. It's a monument to marital love really. Which would also explain those funny statues.
