The calamansi and chili are supposed to be mixed with the dipping sauce, the calamansi adds a different flavor to it. Yes, chicharon bulaklak is pig intestines, bulaklak is the tagalog term for flower, it is called that way bec it looks like a flower when deep-fried.
pro tip, whenever they give you a saucer with calamansi and chili, you have to squeeze out the clamansi juice in it, then crush the chili, then pour in the soy sauce. (1 whole calamansi : 1 table spoon soy sauce, ratio depends on your taste. its a staple dipping sauce, you can dip your fried food in it, even the lechon.
no need. Lechon is just as good in other cities. Lechon taste better when you eat it for free in Special Occassion. Lechon sold per kilo and chopped in cubes dont taste as great as when you cut it directly with a fork and knife and from the belly.
@@eduardochavacanobut it is more accessible and convenient in the city, house of lechon serves the same Carcar lechon. Lechon, if served fresh and crisp, is always delicious.
25:23 The headwaiter gave you some chili and calamansi to use in a dipping sauce. However, he may have assumed that you already knew how to make the sauce and didn't explain it. To make the sauce, all you need is some soy sauce and vinegar. Mix them together in that small plate with the calamansi, squeeze the calamansi to get the juice and if you want it spicy, add in some of the chili. The chicharon bulaklak can then be dipped in the sauce for added flavor.
In the Philippines, Chicharon means fried pork skin. Anything that's not pork will have Chicharon (+) manok for fried chicken skin and Chicharon Bulaklak which literally means Chicharon Flower. In Tagalog, flower is bulaklak. It is, however, not from skin but instead pork mesentery. It looks similar in shape to a flower hence Chicharon Bulaklak. In Cebuano, it is simply "ginabot" and not Chicharon ginabot. Enjoy your stay in Cebu.
Two Mad Explorers you are bliss by eating the best "Lechon in the World" in "Cebu" You made my mouth water, Im sure it is delicious and Yummy. I miss Lechon in Cebu. I am originally born in Cebu but living abroad, I wish I can join you on your Beautiful and tasty lunch or dinner, I hope you had some "Puso"with your lechon, a rice wrap in coconut leaves! Enjoy your Yummy Food.... Hahahaha, the Bald Guy is annoying by Bothering you, maybe he was just being friendly, Bisaya Filipino from Cebu are friendly, funny and hospitable . Chicharon Bulaklak is actually the fatty membrane that hold the pig intestines together. Sometimes you can actually order for crispy fried pork intestines. Though the intestines is kept for another dish which is the "dinuguan" or filipino blood stew, the blood stew comes different in every region of the Philippines
Chicharon Bulaklak is a type of chicharon that is deep fried pork inard /intestines. Bulaklak is tagalog for Flower. Notice that Chicharon Bulaklak looka like a flower in bloom.
Sana All 😄 (Usually this is our expression if we are envious of something, e.g. like you tasting lechon, someone finding their loved one, someone buying a new car 😀, and other good things) Wow, I am so envious of the food you have (chicken skin, Chicharon Bulaklak and Cebu Lechon). Actually bulaklak means flower. The pork intestines were fried and became crunchy (thus chicharon-like) and since they form a shape of a flower, thus the name. I recommend you try "betamax" (pork blood shaped like the betamax tape), and chicken isaw (intestines).
If you're looking for less price, you can visit downtown Cebu. Colon street, beside Gaisano Metro near Sto. Nino church. Look for "Tabo sa Banay" place, there's alot foodie there including local food, street food like 'Chicharon Bulaklak'( bulaklak means flower in tagalog) or Ginabot in cebuano called. If you don't like to eat in the area you can just buy and take out the food.
i feel hungry watching you guys eating our special foods im your newsubsriber from Cebu but now watching here in Copenhagen Danmark thanks guys for coming our beloved country and to explore what we have all in my Country from foods ,culture, and nature ang most of all the hospitality of the people Godbless us all
Bulaklak means flower, that chicharon looks like a flower thus called as such. In the US, grocery labeled that cut as ruffle fat. Lechon skin is supposed to be crispy but they wrap the cooked hog in paper and the steam soften some areas of the skin.
It's called chicharon bulaklak because it's like the shape of a flower. Bulaklak means flower. It's not really the pork intestine but rather what connects the intestine to its abdominal wall.
I was fortunate to be able to get Lechon when I lived in Montreal. They have a huge Philippine community there and I fell in love with it. I have not yet had the chance to get to the Philippines yet, but it is on my list of places to visit for sure.
@@TwoMadExplorers I will do so and it would be great to cross paths one of these days. I've met so many wonderful people on this adventure so far, it would be amazing to add you to the list.
Thank you for visiting our end, the Philippines. It is your first time eating this yummy Filipino food and you liked it. It is the top favorite of Filipino people.

go to Carcar and Talisay Cebu for better lechons.. Native pig lechon is usually the best.. ask multiple locals in those areas for reliable info for the best lechon places.
Well friend the ube ensaymada you got in Manila is the homemade one. I'm Manileña so I know that to the food sold around the corners in Manila is most of the time homemade.
I'm salivating here watching you guys eating your appetizers dipped in vinegar and all I can grab is potato chips...I can't wait for March 10th, I should be in Cebu for a 2 week vacation 🙂Bulaklak means flower; it's basically pig intestine/mysentery...You really need to go to Carcar to get the real Carcar lechon...
Also may I suggest a food trip for pork and beef. If ever you comeback to Luzon try to treat yourselves of the Tagalog soup dish Batangas Bulalo, beef shank soup. This soup is quite a speciality in Tagalog provinces like Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Laguna. Also lomi in Sto Tomas Batangas, Laguna, Tagaytay. Also goto Batangas not the porridge version but the soup version. Just to assure you me and my husband are foodies and these places are our food haven and are budget friendly. Try also the pares house on Manila. It is a beef dish in oyster sauce with all sorts of spices. But if you like to have of lutong bahay or home cook meal kind of taste I strongly suggest for to explore Pangasinan, Pampanga, Batangas, Rizal cuisine.
Cebu known in lechon thats why you see so many foreigner try lechon when you come to cebu, because if you go there you will not go to cebu if your not taste the lechon.
It was SOOOO good!! Worth the hype but to all, if you are using apple maps it is WRONG! The location is actually on the opposite block from what apple maps shows. I know this because I walked around the wrong block 3 times looking for it LOL
As for lechon you could have enjoyed it right away while in Manila, to be exact in La Loma Quezon City which is very neat where you vlog in Manila. Actually lechon is pretty much everywhere in Luzon. And almost everytime those lechons delectable as ever. Just to name a few Mila's, Elar's, Lydia's and so homemade kind like in Bulacan area, Pampanga and near by areas.
That crispy thing at 14:21 is "chicharon bulaklak". It's part of pork intestines. It's yummy and goes well with cold beer, though its high in cholesterol. My mouth was watering watching you guys eat those crispy foods😋😋
the kalamansi and chili is squeezed into the vinegar and mix it a little, to give you a combined dipping sauce for the lechon, anyways, i love your video
Here's a little trivia for chicharon bulaklak: it's called "flower-cracklings" in English, referring to its flower-like ruffled shape! Made from pig's intestine, chicharon bulaklak is enjoyed when deep-fried and served hot!
The chicharon is actually chicharong bulaklak.. It's part of a pigs intestine.. Other chicharon is made of pigs skin The dipping sauce of the kechub is made of pigs liver

The House of Lechon in Cebu city is amazing 👍 give it a try if you visit the city. 🇵🇭❤️
Lechon sa Cebu lami kaayo. Cebu is the legend of lechon maker in the Philippine. ❤
