My biggest gym buddy problems...btw, I train at home now. 1) Even though he just started lifting, he tries to give me advice on how to warmup properly trying to tell me that it doesn't matter if I can bench 500lbs or 50lbs (exaggeration), I still have to add 10lbs for each warmup set, starting with the bar. So he's basically saying the stronger I get, the more warmup sets I have to do. 2) Since he's significantly weaker than me, I have to take the time to add and take off plates. It doesn't help that he can't even bench 135lbs so I'm taking off all of the weights just so he can bench 95lbs for 5 reps. 3) It's my home gym but when we schedule a workout, he doesn't realize that he's making a schedule like we work out at a real gym. It's my damn gym and you're telling me you don't want to workout on the weekend? I do whatever I please, it's MY GYM!

i go with my friend, we each do our own thing, and provide a spot only when absolutely necessary. the only reason we go together is because we can hitch a ride with the other. even if one of our splits fall on the same day, say back day, we still do our own thing because we have different routines. i think thats a pretty good gym buddy?

You don't actually need somebody to be close to your own strength. You just need somebody who is cool and can help you with that last rep on bench. It doesn't take some super strong guy to do that.
