4:53 Baby toys are great for large parrots. They are non-toxic, colorful and interactive. You can get them inexpensively at yard sales and thrift stores. Just be sure to wipe them down with 10 parts water to 1 part bleach. They can also watch Sesame Street or children’s channels where they sing children’s songs. Birds are extremely smart and need intellectual stimulation.
My son lived in an apartment next to bird owners. When they left for work they left the bird outside where it would squall all day. So I started watching videos and so noticed how incredibly intelligent and so they are. I wish I had known how incredible the are before I became a. Senior. Thanks for sharing them. I appreciate that let people know that there’s more to having a bird than just a cage
Oh please only ride with Bird in the case. I'm old and I've seen things when cars wreck. Please. Thank you for listening... Love from the old rescue chick who's seen too much.
Aww we most definitely here you. The pet store is not even a mile away, but we totally understand that accidents can happen at anytime. She will be locked in and secured for the future.
Of course Bird picks out the toy SHE likes for herself… ☺️ You can put new stuff on the rings, e.g. long pieces of wood. At lumberyards and such places, you can find leftover pieces of wood in their containers or whereever they put it, just make sure they’re of untreated wood. You can decorate them with food coloring/water if you want colors… 🤗
I love Gizmo!! I have a Goffin cockatoo and Yellow napped Amazon, and they love to play with toys sometimes. But I always have slowly introduce them. Because they get scared at first. And they also love the cat balls you can get which is what cheaper. But arts and crafts section at dollar tree is a great place to get stuff to make cheap toys!

Hello From Mark In Kentucky. I am so amazed at how well the African Grey parrots speak and with the vocabulary that they can develop. I read somewhere that the African Grey parrots have a vocabulary level of a 5 year old child in which I think that may be a bit low depending upon how much the parrots have been worked with. Also I wanted to mention that I am a subscriber to Einstein’s TH-cam channel with Marcia & Jeff from out of Texas. After watching a few of the other channels that features the African Grey parrots, I have noticed certain vocal similarities and traits. It seems as though they all seem to do to bomb drop and the happy whistling. I just wanted to say hello and let both of you know how much that I have enjoyed all of Gizmo’s videos. Thanks & Best Regards.
Hey Mark! Thank you so much for taking the time out to leave such a sweet comment, and thank you so much to the continued support. We are also fans of Einstein, so you have great taste in bird channels :) Yes, it seems that African Greys share a very similar sound effect vocabulary. We notice a ton of greys can do the water sound, bomb whistles, happy whistling, and more. Would be interesting to get a study of the similar sounds greys make. Thank you again Mark! Have a great day, and weekend!
@@gizmothegreybird Speaking of sounds, I read that the growling sounds that you hear sometimes from the African Grey parrots derive from the native habitat where they came from in which was a defensive mechanism to scare away other animals that may harm or even kill them. Several years ago, We had a neighbor that had one of the red multi color macaws that was quite the character, While sitting in his perch on the front porch, This very wacky bird used to whistle at any girls walking up and down the road and for everyone he encountered, he had a different sound for. My black Labrador retriever that I used to have was a “Wascally Wascal” and my younger sister would fuss on him. That silly macaw had my sisters voice down perfectly and I could not stop laughing at him although my sister was not really too impressed. That bird was hilarious. Hope you enjoyed that true life story. Hope all of you have a great weekend as well, Cheers.

8:12 All birds should have a diet mostly of bird-safe fruits and veggies and not as much seed. Unfortunately, many people raise their birds strictly on seed. The other thing that they don’t provide enough of is interaction, stimulation and natural sunlight. And not from the window, either. They need to be able to fly, bathe regularly and dry in a warm area. Birds are prone to respiratory disease and need to stay out of drafts, as well as needing a heater to keep them warm at night. They metabolize their food often but can’t digest it without grit or oyster shell. The other thing that is essential is a calcium block or cuttle fish. They also need routine and security. Birds are prey animals, so they prefer to have others with them, be listening to music or bird sounds and to be covered at night to feel secure. Their beaks and nails need regularly trimming or they can overgrow and prevent them from perching and eating. Birds that do not get the right foods, environment, stimulation and security, they can end up becoming neurotic and pulling their feathers or get very depressed and even get sick and die of heartbreak or loneliness. 😢❤ People have no idea how much care and attention birds need!
If I weren't so old I'd buy an African grey. It would be great company. But their life span is much more time than I have on earth. It would be traumatizing for the bird to have to break in a new family.

Work with your sun everyday and be overly excited when they try and mimic you. Conures are not the best talkers but they most certainly can try. You have to work everyday for it. 🥰
This may be my ignorance, but wouldn't it be cheaper to buy unsalted sunflower seeds and peanuts and other parrot friendly seeds sold for human consumption in bulk, and then make your own mixture? If you had a dehydrator you could even dry your own fruits you know he likes.
@@gizmothegreybirdWatching Gizmo destroy a few dollars would be interesting but, such a bad idea because of the inks and chemicals in the paper. I know you love him to much let him do it.
I thought that food was actually extremely bad for them? And the “fruit/seeds” is even worse bc of all the dye. Our A.V had us get Harrison’s pellet food plus we feed all organic seeds mixed in as well as organic nuts & fresh chop but it’s crazy how 98% of the items sold for birds at pet stores are the very things that kill them.
Jayde is my eldest daughter, and no Kyle and I are not married yet. We have been together for 7 years. We have 4 kids Jayde, Jasmine, Jace, and Jessie.
i think i actually wasted money on chewing toys because my GCC doesn't even touch it. He's completely disinterested unless it's one of those bird kabobs with the softer wood. the only toys that grab his attention are foraging ones. I'm thinking of donating these other toys to a bird sanctuary or bird adoption center - give them some use for another bird who'd be more eager to play with them.
Please do NOT drive with Bird (or any other pet) loose in the car. If you for some reason come to a very sudden stop, she can be flung straight into the windshield and killed (or killed by the airbag)! Birds should always be secured in the car by being in a fastened cage or carrier❗️ Basically, everyone we love should be secured in the car❣️ 🤗💞 …Or at least have a harness on tied to at least a headrest, I guess, but I’m not sure how safe that is. Dogs and us wear safety belts though, so it may work similarly for them, I guess, and can be a solution for birds who hate being in a carrier… 🤔🥰 Just saying, having been in several serious traffic accidents, this really is an issue close to my heart…
Keep showing the complete reality of having Birds, and the commitment involved. Yes they are beautiful, and fun…but require so much more.👍🏻
Absolutely!! We want to show that off!! We are making a video this weekend of the cost of making a chop and what goes into it.
That’s why I love other people’s birds. 🤭😉

Work with your sun everyday and be overly excited when they try and mimic you. Conures are not the best talkers but they most certainly can try. You have to work everyday for it. 🥰
Giz had me laughing
He’s the best haah
The sun conure is pretty, also nice to put faces to voices hi there😊
Bird is not a sun conure but she is jenday conure
This may be my ignorance, but wouldn't it be cheaper to buy unsalted sunflower seeds and peanuts and other parrot friendly seeds sold for human consumption in bulk, and then make your own mixture? If you had a dehydrator you could even dry your own fruits you know he likes.
try local craft fairs - check what wood folk use and see if they can make something up on lathe etc
Not a $5 bill but 5 $1s. Will take slightly longer
We don’t have $1 bills in Canada 😂 smallest is a $5 bill
@@gizmothegreybirdWatching Gizmo destroy a few dollars would be interesting but, such a bad idea because of the inks and chemicals in the paper. I know you love him to much let him do it.
I thought that food was actually extremely bad for them? And the “fruit/seeds” is even worse bc of all the dye. Our A.V had us get Harrison’s pellet food plus we feed all organic seeds mixed in as well as organic nuts & fresh chop but it’s crazy how 98% of the items sold for birds at pet stores are the very things that kill them.
Giz has an Only Fans? OOOOOO! LOL
Lmao!!! He has an only feathers 😂
@@gizmothegreybird 🤣
How is Jayde related and you two aren’t married? 😂 well you’re certainly invested 😂love Giz even if he chews things
Jayde is my eldest daughter, and no Kyle and I are not married yet. We have been together for 7 years. We have 4 kids Jayde, Jasmine, Jace, and Jessie.
Looked like gizmo liked it, he could destroy it which makes him feel strong
i think i actually wasted money on chewing toys because my GCC doesn't even touch it. He's completely disinterested unless it's one of those bird kabobs with the softer wood. the only toys that grab his attention are foraging ones. I'm thinking of donating these other toys to a bird sanctuary or bird adoption center - give them some use for another bird who'd be more eager to play with them.
Have you tried Giz in the carrier!
You love to see how excited he gets
❤️❤️❤️
Please do NOT drive with Bird (or any other pet) loose in the car. If you for some reason come to a very sudden stop, she can be flung straight into the windshield and killed (or killed by the airbag)! Birds should always be secured in the car by being in a fastened cage or carrier❗️ Basically, everyone we love should be secured in the car❣️ 🤗💞
…Or at least have a harness on tied to at least a headrest, I guess, but I’m not sure how safe that is. Dogs and us wear safety belts though, so it may work similarly for them, I guess, and can be a solution for birds who hate being in a carrier… 🤔🥰
Just saying, having been in several serious traffic accidents, this really is an issue close to my heart…
Yes!!
These are no parrot toys....they are much stronger....my 2 greys have them including a swing. 🎉
After watching this video we at least knows what Giz daddy are watching on the web. And that he seems to get Giz an account on Only Fans too. 😂
Can you put a Amazon account for bird and gizzy please love Mel
