Gabor Mate has been a huge inspiration and motivation for getting the courage to look inward and heal my childhood trauma.

this video is eye-opening for me. 😢 Listening to Dr. Gabor Maté’s words, I couldn’t help but reflect on my own life. For years, I thought being 'nice' and always putting others first was the right thing to do. I believed it made me a better person. But as time passed, I started feeling drained, anxious, and disconnected from myself. Hearing how this behavior can harm not just our mental health but our physical health as well made me realize just how much I’ve been ignoring my own needs. It’s scary to think about how stress and people-pleasing could literally be making us sick.
Have you ever found yourself trapped in this cycle? Putting on a brave face, saying 'yes' when you want to say 'no,' and neglecting your own well-being for the sake of others? It’s so hard to break free from that mindset, but this video gave me hope. 🙏 Let’s start a conversation. If this resonated with you, share your experience below. Together, we can support each other on this journey of self-care, healing, and personal growth. You never know who might need to hear your story today. #DrGaborMate, #EmotionalHealth, #PersonalGrowth, #SelfCare, #HealingJourney, #MindBodyConnection, #InnerChildHealing, #StressManagement, #StopPeoplePleasing, #MentalHealthMatters, #HealthAndWellness, #OvercomingStress

In Finnish and Swedish language there is a word "kiltti" and "snälla" for being nice, kind, obedient -> not having own boundaries or needs, not being inconvenience to anyone. The children were supposed to be that way, then they were good children. Now we know better.

That's a really interesting perspective! It's true that cultural values shape our understanding of kindness and boundaries. It's important to strike a balance between being kind and taking care of ourselves.

@yourinnerchildmatters Yes, and that is what we are trying to learn and get better 😊
Even today when Santa Clause arrives with gifts, he asks: Are there any "kiltti" children here?
