As soon as I saw this in my feed, I said as soon as he realizes this is a story, he’s going to be 100% invested, and absolutely NOT ready for that plot twist 😂
I am a 77 year old white woman who discovered your channel yesterday . I am thoroughly enjoying your reactions and I especially like the fact that you take the time to research the artists you are listening to. Great Channel.
I’m late to the party. Your post was 7 months ago, so I’ll be kind, and remind. It was on the meatloaf video. My long time boyfriend was a mess. He wasn’t always. He changed, after about 10 years. We partied together. Just occasional stuff, a bit of this and that, alcohol. Just regular stuff. About 10 years in, he lost his mind. Meth got him. Alcohol was killing him. He went from drinking beer with friends to pouring in the vodka, at a really alarming rate. He tore the whole inside of his car out, high on meth. I kicked him out. When he finally got sick, he had burned all his bridges, so. Hmm. I kept him with me until he died. I’m not sad he died. I’m relieved. Actually, he had one job to do, and he took too long to do it. He died with food in his belly, and nurses.
Ah, such a great song, & a great performance! Meatloaf is the male singer, & he was also an actor. He had several hits, & his "Bat Out of Hell" album is KILLER! Thanks for your reaction.
Meatloaf was a very theatrical performer. He had an amazing voice. I was first introduced to his music because he was in the movie The Rocky Horror Picture show. Which was a musical play that he was in as well that became a musical movie that still plays at midnight all over the world on weekends. His voice never really changed his whole career. He always had an amazing range. Ya great singer, great guy.
Meatloaf was the singer, the band is the Neverland Express. Most of the song is an extended memory. It starts out "Well I remember every little thing as if it happened only yesterday..." Once the setting is 'in the car', it's solid memories from both of them up until he says "I swore that I would love you til the end of time!" Then it switches to the present where both of them are praying for the end of time to release them from their vows and promises. At a couple points in the song, you can here the line "It was long ago and it was far away, and it was so much better than it is today." They were young and horny, made promises to each other that they turned out to not be able to keep. But even she was remembering the time when they were young as a good time. Some sex-ed teachers have used this song in their classes as an illustration of the hazards of letting your glands do the decision making instead of your brain. Amusingly, Meatloaf's daughter had a teacher like that, and the day the song was used in school, she mentioned it to her father.
This is a 6 minute snapshot of a 20-something year relationship, we’ve all known that couple, 20 years down the line the hate each other, but they are staying true to the ‘vow’ great reaction, I enjoyed watching your face as each part unfolded, when you said you were getting a disco vibe that cracked me up, I always thought it sounded like porn soundtrack music
What fun! Sharing your discovery of this classic made my day. I'm 80 years old, had the album, and saw Meatloaf live 4 times, but this was maybe the best yet. You, my man, have a very infectious way about you, and I will definitely be checking out more of your videos. By the way, while there is never going to be anything to match this song, the rest of his album, "Bat Out of Hell" is wonderful too, without a single clinker. Check it out.
The baseball announcer is the great Yankee shortstop and later broadcaster Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto. I grew up listening to him do Yankee broadcasts. Meatloaf was a big baseball fan. He was coaching a kid team up to shortly before he passed away.
This is totally musical theater Meatloaf was also in rocky horror picture show...his voice was so underrated..he was brilliant and way ahead of his time..bat out of hell is an awesome album
loved your reactions! The song came out in 1977, so the 'Elvis vibe' you picked up on was that the memory was in the 1950's. it is a flashback of a 30ish couple, who did it in the backseat, but only after she extracted a promise of marriage! It says a lot that they are still married when they despise each other later--havenn't we all seen marriages similar to that? They probably do love each other but are so annoyed! The most important line is, "I won't break my promise, or forget my vow..." That's why he hasn't just deserted her! This is a fantastic message for the youth of today! one other thing you almost picked up on but missed... The girl, is singing ""ooo shop shop, ooo shop shop, ooo shop shop, ooo shop shop". Back in the day, girls were supposed to wait until marriage, and shop around for the guy who'd be the best lifelong husband-type. That's why his "let me sleep on it" was so cold! She wasn't expecting that--she 90% expected a real 'yes', because she was holding the goods he wanted! Hence, the whole "Suicide Squeeze" bit! :) Did you notice her Victory dance when he was swearing on his mothers grave and making declarations of undying love to her???? hehehe. This is very much like an operatic play, and impossibly well done. oh yeah, he's wearing a tux without the jacket and tie, because they just came from a 1950's high school dance! lol
The Singer is Meat Loaf. Jim Steinman the composer. Together they are unbeatable. You NEED to go down the rabbit hole! Do ecery video from the Bat Out of Hell album. Then I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) He won a Grammy for that one in the 90's
Shon! What a GREAT reaction! Mr. Loaf (RIP) was a great story performer with the amazing Jim Steinman’s music. Meat Loaf is the artist aka Michael Lee Aday, he came to fame as an actor in the musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show (the movie). He was extremely theatrical in his music. The entire Bat Out Of Hell album is such and a great album. More songs to react to, Bat Out Of Hell and the reason Meat Loaf became a “safe word” in certain activities … I’ll Do Anything For Love … but I Won’t Do That! LOL Joe
Meatloaf was Eddie in Rocky horror Picture Show, he acted in other things as well as singing his heart out. Bat Outta Hell is a great album. We miss you Meatloaf.
Meatloaf has been around forever and has had a pretty good career. He was in the cult classic “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and also “Fight Club” with Brad Pitt and Edward Norton.
I'm so glad you listened to the lyrics and got the full story. They went from a couple of young kids driven by hormones to an old married couple that can't stand each other anymore. But they won't break up because "I never broke my promise or forgot my vow" And at the end she's singing "it was long ago and far away and it was so much better than it is today"
I've seen him sing this live in concert its first class! Just amazing live, so theatrical & they snogged on stage every time I saw him in concert😂 I was always in love with this man and saw him every time he toured ❤
I was lucky enough to get front row seats at a live Meatloaf concert and it was an incredible time!! Just his theatrics are amazing. He acts out his songs. Good stuff right there!! 👍🏻👍🏻
I live for people's reaction to this 😁. Rock Opera at its finest, really groovy too. I can't telly you how many times me and friends acted this out lol
They were together at work and at home for years. Meat loaf ,Alice Cooper band were the leaders in putting on shows to go with their music. Forcing others to step it up in concert.
Bat out of Hell is one of the best albums ever produced. Not one bad song on the whole album. Jim Steinman wrote all the songs, he also wrote Total eclipse of the hart, making love out of nothing at all, I need a hero, and the entire soundtrack for the movie streets of fire.
Meatloaf was a man. He was a performer. And loved to put on a show. Watch him in Rocky Horror Picture Show. He was the first Rock opera and his shows all had a theme
The song is about them reminiscing about their first time in the car down by the lake. The first line of the song is "Well I remember every little thing as if it happened only yesterday " and the last line is "it was long ago and it was far away and it was so much better than it is today." So they've been married for a while and have both fallen out of love with each other and want it to end, but they are staying together and being miserable because they took vows to love each other til the end of time.
Hey young man! enjoying ur views so far; as for Meatloaf THAT is his name. Accomplished actor (Rocky Horror Picture Show) and Accomplished musician (pianist), Accomplished Opera Singer....YES! the man was a icon.
'Bat outta Hell' remains the highest selling first released record of any artist ever. It also sits at number 4 highest selling of all time (Excluding greatest hits compilation albums). There's a reason why...No matter your taste in music everyone loves the Loaf.
The great thing about reaction videos, when done well, like yours is; that like you, we in the audience once went from - no I don't want any meatloaf right now, I'm not hungry, to - hell, yes this is a fantastic gem of music, such a great journey. And you exemplified that journey wonderfully.
Meatloaf is great! Must do a video of him singing Star Spangle Banner. Incredible. I love how he points to her so everyone focuses on her when he's the big star. Shows his character.
My Dad owned "Bat Out of Hell" on 8 track and vinyl, my older sister then bought the cassette and I eventually had this on CD. Meatloaf is intergenerational! (As a kid, I did not understand the baseball reference.🤭) Awesome reaction, man.
I'm 58 yo grad HS in 1984.....i had this 33rpm vinyl album.....and you're right this is the way those first loves would go.....and we'd go parking in a car in a farmer's field somewhere....and fog up the windows.....
I ‘m 66 and have been listening to this since high school. People used to play it on the juke box in bars, and we girls, would try and start to out sing each other! Great Times! So sad that we lost Meat this year! Losing too many these past few years! It can’t be said enough that we as a generation had some off the best tunes ever in the 60’s and 70’s!
She was married to or dating a guy from The Clash. It is one of the best rock duets ever. Meat was an icon, he was epic, he was underrated. He would have loved your reaction to this. Keep it going. Keep showing people. How many people irl have you shown this song to? That is how you know the depth of God's love for us. He let us share in other people's gifts, by enjoying and spreading them. I am sure Meat is right there at the right hand of God singing and amusing Him for eternity. We get to go there, and I want Meatloaf at my firepit singing with us. He was truly gifted, and I look forward to meeting that legend one day.
Jim Steinman is the genius behind the lyrics. He and Meatloaf made incredible music together. If you want to check out Jim's self titled album Bad For Good... Pick any of them and you can't go wrong. I do highly recommend Surf's Up featuring the beautiful contribution of Rory Dodd. Jim didn't sing all the songs. Rory has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. He also features on back up vocals in this song. You can see him with the mo in the background.
I can't tell you how many needles I had to replace on my record player just wearing out this album in Jr. High ❤ didn't know it then but it was some of the best of times growing up in the 70's and 80's .. 😢 I miss those years! ❤
Meatloaf is the man. He had it legally changed from Marvin. He started out in the theater, and always brought that stage presence to everything he did. They were not a couple.
I actually heard this song when it first came on the radio while parking with my boyfriend 😂😂😂 I started laughing my ass off & ruined the mood for him! Love the baseball play by play in the middle! ❤❤❤
Thing to remember about the doo-wop vibe in the beginning, was because this song came out in the 70’s, but they were in high school in the 50’s. So the part that kind of reminded you of Elvis? Yeah. Nailed it.
Jim Steinman wrote the song, actually wrote all the songs on the first album. He selected Meat Loaf to sing them because of theatrical presentation. After the album was completed they had a hard time finding anyone to distribute it because it was so different. The album, Bat Our Of Hell, went multigold and is still one of the best selling independently produced albums of all time.
This first came out on 8-track, I was like 20-21 , the 1960's (and this came out 1977) not being shy, but still it was a surprise to us as well. And we laughed our ass, drinking a beer or two. He was in Rocky Horror Picture show. In audience participation watching Rocky Horror, the audience has been known to shout, "Meatloaf Again?"
"My prediction is he really loves her" oh...sweet summer child 😂😂
As soon as I saw this in my feed, I said as soon as he realizes this is a story, he’s going to be 100% invested, and absolutely NOT ready for that plot twist 😂
Just wait for it, is so fun.

A rock opera. Meatloaf was the man.
Truest love song ever written lol😂

Yep, this is it right here. He didn't just sing, he put on a whole theatrical performance.

Now THAT'S a great story!
We showed this video to our son when he hit puberty. A cautionary tale indeed!
I love to see a young person enjoying this music. When we were in high school we loved it!
Every high school dance… girls on one side, guys on the other. “Will you love me forever?” “Let me sleep on it.” Back and forth. 😂😂😂
Omg that’s amazing.
American's are weird
I didn’t do this in school but we did at my wedding reception! 😂

1:45 LOL, LITERALLY...when you heat a knife up, the edge glows red...such a great metaphor for young love...both mesmerizing and dangerous...

When I saw the title you were going to listen to, I started laughing ahead because I could already imagine your face when they'd get serious 😂
Meat Loaf is the guy, but you were also introduced to the songwriting genius of Jim Steinman!
Every song Meatloaf sang, played out like a little Operatta. He was so talented. And he is missed RIP Meatloaf. ❤
R.I.P. Meatloaf. Love ya.
This is totally musical theater
Meatloaf was also in rocky horror picture show...his voice was so underrated..he was brilliant and way ahead of his time..bat out of hell is an awesome album
That’s exactly what I thought of when he mentioned how he kinda sounds like Elvis. I yelled “EDDIE!”.
@@reverbscherzo7850Same!
And in Fight Club! Lmao
Once again, you’ve made me grin ear to ear! I just love ya!
"I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" is probably my favorite of his songs, definitely worth checking out!
Omg, I love your reaction to this 😂💖I love this song! RIP I love Meatloaf!💖🙏🏻😇
I was grinning from ear to ear watching you react to this. Thanks for another fun reaction, you rock!! Peace Out!! ✌️
I like the way the Baseball Announcer says "He's sliding in, head first." WTH? ha ha ha

Love this video. Love this song. Love this man- Meatloaf is amazing.
Nothing like the good ol’ days. Nice to see the young fold appreciating the classics..
Bat out of Hell was one heck of an album,, the title track is on another level
This was called Rock Opera.....
Shon, I'm so glad you reacted to this! ! I think I laughed as much as you did 😂
Oh the parties I sang this at! A duet with a stranger that became a new friend for the night! HAHAHA

Another great reaction! This whole album is excellent.
Not just a song but a show. Meat Loaf isn't the band, it's the man.

Bat out of Hell is one of the best albums ever produced. Not one bad song on the whole album.

The song is about them reminiscing about their first time in the car down by the lake. Meatloaf is quite theatrical, yet he also has a soft side too!Give a listen to For Crying Out Loud You Know I Love You,and Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad!
Saw Meatloaf in concert amazing like a show in a show! Energy!
Its been 30 years since I’ve seen anyone get invested in this song. It was fun watching your reaction.

Our song...haha! Married going on 43 years, this is our song...this and Tracy Chapmans Fast Car.....Meatloaf is awesome!
I knew you weren't seeing that ending coming! LOL My sister & I have sung this song together in the car for decades. We never get tired of it.

I love the humor in this song!
This is one of my favorite reactions to this song!!!! LOL LOVED IT
