6:34 .... Nice greaser. And the white-capped mountains look gorgeous in the background, even if they do make me feel cold. ;-) Got really warm here last week with near-dead air, and today I wake up to cold and wind. Fickle weather. Happy flying!
Thanks! Yeah, the weather here is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get ;-) It's warming up here as well but the wind is picking up with the temperature, you just have to love the Desert, always windy. I'll take the cold if you'll send me some of the dead air ;-)
@@associatedblacksheepandmisfits Yes, and now I have to make the tough decision of which ones to retire. Well, it won't be hard to pick out 3-4 I wish I hadn't purchased ;-)
@@associatedblacksheepandmisfits Wow! To think I complain about the Wind where I live ;-) The Wind here seems calm to what you have. Cold I can deal with, Wind not so much ;-)
Great Video. I notice in your other videos of the same plane, you removed your gyro. Can the stock gyro be used with the engine 3s upgrade? or must a new one be purchased....and if so, which? My 3mm shaft has been bent more times than I know, and it wobbles....plus I've had to glue stick the motor in to mount it. Set screw is stripped...that doesn't help. I'm learning! Thanks.
This is the PNF version so it's never had a gyro but it would be nice to have one in it. Upgrading the power system to a 3S LIPO should not effect your gyro and it should continue to work just fine. It's a great flying and tough little Warbird ;-) See you in the Air!
The stock ESC is 20 amps. I know Volantex says 10 amps in their literature, but I pulled it out and looked at it. There are no amp markings on the ESC, but I looked at the wires and saw the gauge and temp limit and found a chart online that says that gauge and temp limit should carry 21 amps. Then I got online and found an identical Volantex ESC being sold rated at 20 amps. Further, I found a few guys on TH-cam flying it on 3s with no problems. None of them had measured amperage draw though. Thanks for the video. I haven't flown mine yet. I still need a receiver. I've been pairing the weight down to try and get it to 250 grams. Right now with a light 2s battery and receiver I'm at 291 grams. I may try a lighter 12 amp ESC and 2 blade prop. Any recommendations?
I use the same 7x5 2-blade prop on this one that I use on the XK A280. It performs very well on 3S, not sure about 2S. My ESCs of choice for the past couple of years have been the HobbyWing ESCs.
I am having problems with my RTF version. When testing the rudder does not return to center. It will go hard right and stick and slowly return to center. I think switching servo wires would tell me if the problem is the servo or the receiver/gyro when the problem is observed moving to the elevator. The problem goes away on expert mode. I may end up ordering new electronics and moving on to my Flying Fish while I wait.
Hi Gordon! Those Gyros can do strange things sometimes. If it goes away in Expert Mode it does sound like it's the Gyro. Awesome airframe though. Well, if you have the Flying Fish at least you'll have another great flying plane while you wait on electronics. I can't stop flying that plane ;-) See you in the Air!
