One nit-pick on the details is that the Red Tail Mustangs were flown by the Tuskegee Airmen, all of whom were black, while the pilot figure in this model is white. When WWII started, blacks in the military were relegated to mostly menial duties, and there was a heavy bias that they were not capable of handling such demanding tasks as piloting fighter aircraft. The Tuskegee Airmen helped break down many of the initial barriers to integration in the military, and distinguished themselves with exemplary performance on many combat missions.
Again, I'm being nit-picky, but those brave men deserve to be remembered for who they were, and all that they stood and fought for.

I can confirm that this thing is a real beast! Made some high speed crashes with it and not a scratch, flies great and even did some night flying - the white light on the bottom litterly lights the ground

It just arrived today and I finished assembly and testing about an hour ago. Everything works perfectly. This is by far the best bang for the buck r/c plane purchase I've ever made. It's such a well made, small yet sizey 22" wingspan RTF park flier. The included controller works great and the 35 lights on this thing are awesome! Can't wait to take it up tomorrow! My only gripe were the completely useless assembly instructions, but watching a few videos helped me get there. So thrilled with this purchase, thanks again!
I was wondering why only a few people reviewed this plane. I bought as my first plane and it is a tank! Extremely durable and it really makes you fly the thing!! Wish all my future airplanes flight this good.
I honestly don’t think much of this at all when I saw it online and even when I got it in person. It was not until I pulled it out of the box that I saw the potential and now after it’s flown, I’m considering selling a couple of (or more likely donating) at least two of my “Eachine” birds 👍💯⚓️

This plane is awesome! I've had about 3 or 4 flights now (first rc plane for me). Crashed a loooot lol. But this thing has survived with just the fuel tanks breaking off (easy fix with some glue). Thanks for this video!

I currently have four (4) XK airplanes, P-40 Warhawk, T-28 Trojan, F8F Bearcat “Rare Bear”, and the larger J3 Cub “Skylark”.
I have not yet assembled the J3 Cub, but it has a brushless motor and is very detailed. Of the three (3) smaller ones, the F8F “Rare Bear” is my favorite, and it flies the best of the three also, however, it does not have a brushless motor, and neither do the others. It does fly very well though. I have been contemplating purchasing this P-51 for some time, and now that you have reviewed it for us, I think I will be adding it to my collection, although I also have a UMX P-51 with the 19” inch wingspan and brushless motor, and I also have their smaller P-51 with the 16” inch wingspan and the brushed motor, and it was my first P-51, and I have flown it many times for years.
This one looks like a winner, and I really like P-51’s and this one is ideally suited for night flying.

Good review! I've had one for a few months now, very nice for the price. FAA doesn't consider this one a "drone", it's under 250 grams all up weight...at least not yet so no R.I.D. "transponder" needed.
You guys should really look at the Volantex 500mm mustang. Similar to that green 400mm mustang you just reviewed but it is brushless, runs on 2s, steerable tail wheel. It is more scale and is just overall an upgraded 400mm warbird. I predict in the near future these brushless 500mm upgraded warbirds will start to replace the eachine/Volantex/rage etc 400mm series. Excited to see what comes next

I had one of these and I couldn't get it to fly as well out of 6g mode as yours did. I found the front landing gear to be weak. The stock radio really holds this back.

Trust me, I was very surprised by the great performance out of stabilized mode 💯 Sorry to hear your experience was not as great as mine! Unfortunately they already increased the price to $136 but probably still a good deal. Wish I could fly these with a Spectrum transmitter. Is it under 250g? Could not find weight in the info pages and you did not seem to add a remote ID module?
I totally support the AMA and all the great things they do. I read my Model Aviation magazine cover to cover every month. You talk about it in almost every flying video. Regarding the insurance- it would be nice if you told the full story - that it is second to homeowners insurance, which makes it non applicable to probably 95% of those in the hobby.
They do fly with the spectrum receiver that has the Sbus port and a dsm port forspectrum 3.3v that you can plug in a spectrum satellite receiver and use your regular spectrum tx or other regularly used brands ring the sbus port

I modify this XK A280 to 3s with a buck converter to supply 8.4 volts to the receiver, a 12 amp esc and a 7X4E propeller. This provides unlimited vertical and impressive speed passes, will also giving the opportunity to fly at low throttle settings for more relaxed flight. A GNB 3 cell high voltage 380mAH pack rounds out this rocket with perfect C.G. and virtually no impact to total weight.
Why would you need a buck converter if the esc has a BEC that puts out 5v? The reciever can only handle 5v same with the servos 6v max. Why is it not running off of the esc bec? That makes no sense?
The BEC on my cheap 12 amp ESC only provides .5 amps at 5 volts which is not enough to run the XKA280 reliably. The stock ESC on the XK does not have ANY BEC circuit. The red wire from the stock ESC is a direct connection to the battery positive lead. With the designed 2S battery, that provides 8.4 to 7.? volts to the receiver as the battery drains. The LED lights alone on this plane draw over 300 mA when on (not trivial in my opinion). Add servos and receiver current drains then any BEC circuit for this plane would need to provide over 500 mA and at least 7.2 volts and optimally 8.4 volts. Guess what? That little buck converter fits the bill perfectly. Make sense now?
@@FarmerFpv Being perfectly honest, I thought I could get away with the BEC on the ESC, but a few seconds with the LED lights on, and the ESC was very hot. The 500 mA label on the Cheap quad copter ESC clearly mean MAX .5 amps, not sustained. Necessitating the need for the buck.

Don't forget to put a small timer on the transmitter. There is no warning for battery drain and you'll want to have it on the ground before the battery dies.

My intention was going to be to use some Flat Gunmetal touch-up paint around the manifolds and guns, only leaving just the tips of the pipes/barrels unpainted.

Hi guys - i flew this on a UMX 3s battery . I did not blow up. I got around 5 mins flight. However the battery swelled and was a little hot. But i then realised i ran the battery down to 5% ! So that was most probably the cause of the swelling? Keep up the great flying.
I picked one up about 7 months ago and on the 3rd day of owning it i decided to go out for a night flight and haven't seen it since 🤦😂 great airplane thou
reminds me, of when drones were new. My friend brought over his new drone as we live adjacent to some sports fields... well his first flight lasted like 3 seconds, in which the drone flew up and then down as hard is it could into the ground, basically turning it into plastic confetti.

Somebody commented about the led lights, I checked it and they draw about 350 mA, so not insignificant. I counted 39 led lights in total so 350/39 is a bit less than 10 mA each, so sounds right. Motor draw is significantly more, but with the lights out, should go farther, and you can turn them off.

Attention to detail? It has a green and red light bar on the fuselage. How many of these do you actually keep and not give away or throw away.
You need to fly it without the landing gear and drop tanks. It performs so much better. You should also fly it on a 3s 400mah and it rips.
Yes i tried it on a umx 3s. It makes it better thru wind. Also better power to get out of probs. I also increased mechanical aileron throw.

Had tons of fun with the volantex p51. I'm trying to find more of that same size but no luck so far. The ones I did fly i crashed and broke due to calm then sudden 40mph + winds within 5 minutes of flight.

It's not the $99 and some change now on that site. Yes amazing price it when it's normally around the $265 range (on their online store).

Not bad but i think better solutuon is the Kootai ki84. Cost about 140 Euro, is bigger without the led lights and 2 batteries. Flight time is also at 20 minutes. At this Plane only 7 minutes and there is only one batterie. Could you test the kootai ki84? I am interested longer time at this but i wait for CZ stock because i am from Austria. Nice Greets 🇦🇹

Yes, I definitely should have mentioned in this video that there is a light button. You can make them flash, or turn them off with the press of a button on your radio 👍💯⚓️
