One of the best "SAVES." From a turkey to a soaring eagle. Nice work. It's crying for a pointy nose though. There must be some way to get a red spinner on it again. Maybe redo the motor mount to relocate the motor? Aftermarket spinners start at 1-1/2 inches or maybe 1-1/4" (32mm) so I think one would fit OK. Happy P-51 flying! (P.S...4:59....Nice roll-out landing! Landing #2, not so much (heh-heh))
Thank you much! Hehehe...everyone wants a spinner on this mustang ;-) It does look a bit strange with the blunt nose but it flies so nice now I'm afraid to change anything...hehehe. Yeah, the 2nd landing not so much ;-) See you in the Air!
Thats the best version of this airframe ive seen, your mods showed its full potential great work GC! Makes me wanna rebuild mine since i crashed it hard on its maiden.
@@knightrider3766 Hi Knight Rider! I did purchase it from Banggood. We don't make anything in the USA as everything is made in China. Where do you think a USA Vendor would get this plane ;-) So, I should purchase this plane from a USA Vendor who purchased it from a Chinese MFG? I've purchased approx. 75% of my RC Products from Banggood. I've always gotten very good customer service from them. Much better customer service than I get from most USA Vendors. Even most USA MFGs have moved their operations overseas. I think you will have a very hard time finding anything that's actually manufactured in the USA in the RC Hobby ;-)
@@GroundControlRC I think my Cannondale road bike frame is the only thing I own that was made in the good ol' USA, though most of the components on it were made overseas ;-) About the only ones made here these days are of the high-end, hand-built variety. We can't make anything here today cheap enough for mass production because we don't have the poverty-level worker pay minimums that China allows for it's people.

Hi Tam! I have the PNF version so I installed my own receiver. I don't think the RTF version uses the same Protocol as the Mini Warbirds and I can't find any information on what protocol it does use. I wish Volantex provided that information. See you in the Air!
Great Flying!!! Did you find the CG marked spot on the wing to be accurate with your 3s setup? Also are you still using the narrow compartment for the battery at the bottom (battery placed vertically) or you modified it in your setup? Finally, did you install the regular receiver on the wing in between the aileron servo? Thank You
Thank you much! Yes, the CG is good with the 3S LIPO mounted vertically and no modification of the battery bay was required. I installed a standard 6CH receiver on the top of the wing as far forward as I could get it. The LIPO is a GNC 3S 550mah LIPO. I love this airframe ;-) See you in the Air!
@@GroundControlRC Fantastic Thank You! Did you manage to put the receiver antenna hanging outside? May be it's me but I noticed that sometimes the vertical battery creates some interference with the receiver
@@ioskaioska5166 You're right, those vertically installed batteries do cause issues and I had a signal loss with the Volantex Super Cub because of that. I used a receiver with long antennas so I drilled a hole into the canopy and one of the antennas is inside the canopy and one is straight down the inside of the fuselage toward the tail. I've never had any signal issues with it installed this way.
@@GroundControlRC I appreciate your reply. I finally took mine out today! I have the stock motor and used the 2s, 500 mah battery and only got 2:30 minutes of flight time. Is that normal? I am new to all this and appreciate Your time.
@@Stvvts-mn9di I had the same issue with the stock power system. I use a 2S 550mah LIPO and was only getting 2.5-3 minutes of flight time. They over-propped this power system with that 4-blade prop so it pulls more amps than it should. The best way to get better flight time and power is to use a 2-blade prop and a 3S LIPO. A 12A 2S-3S ESC, a 7x4 2-blade prop, a 3S 550mah LIPO, and it will fly like mine. This P51D should have been setup for 3S Power to begin with. It's a bit of work but the results are fantastic. This airframe is absolutely fantastic they just really messed up on the Power System.
@@GroundControlRC The motor you have listed is out of stock, would any 1400kv plane motor work? Or is there a size I should look out for? This channel is great! Thanks again for any and all advice.
@@Stvvts-mn9di Thank you very much! You should be able to use the stock motor with a 3S LIPO and a 12A ESC if you replace the Stock Prop with a 2-Blade 6x3 Prop. I believe the Stock Motor is an 1800kv and my Motor & Prop Testing show very similar thrust and efficiency with that setup on 2208 1800kv motor. I replaced my motor because I damaged the stock motor mount. If I had to do it over again I would have used the stock motor and mount to begin with and it would have saved me the majority of work I put into it ;-)
