Question on the color picker.. can it let you pick a color and then have it use either the exact color or the complementary color from the color wheel?
Great review, I loved the example of matching the background color to the product in product shots. Random question: What are you using to physically mount the M9 inside of the lamp?
@@emsvisuals5580 you must be that one guy at any social standing who tells someone to calm down the when they show the slightest bit of human emotion lmao
I just bought these and used them all over my horror short film set. I even used them as an accent full light to fake a practical that was OS, best purchase I’ve made this year
Same here Dave (love your channel btw). I would add that it would be nice if the color picker let you use either the exact color or the complementary color from the color wheel :-) Have a great day Dave, I hope swimming competitions are going well
Was hoping to find something like this. I had found a light for $130 that can change colors as well but not as much fine tuning like intensity and saturation. This is perfect!
thankyou for actually demonstrating its uses and not just saying "this is my favourite light" great work caleb! its not bright but like you say, its good for subtle accents
Ive just never felt like lights with built in batteries have been very attractive to me... they won't last the in the long run I don't think. Epic little light though!
I considered this and agree about the longevity issue. However other LED lights require additional purchases of batteries (eg. V-Plate, Sony NP etc.) so the built-in li-ion battery is like a freebie. Also this can be run off USB power banks too, so I think even if the internal battery dies, it'll still work. Questions is... Does anybody know if there is any good power bank that is made of steel that this sucker can magnetically attach to?
For me, I love the idea, but struggle to think when I would use almost any of the features on a daily basis. I wonder how many people buy it and almost never really use it? I've found a 300dmkii and a 120d with an aputure f7 isn't enough for some interview setups (depending on what I'm trying to do) which surprised me, so I always find these tiny lights are quite a big investment, because you would need at least 4 of them to put them to any significant use, which is already getting into £400
Thanks for your review. Very interesting source of movie lighting. Interesting presentation. I'm most likely going to your presentation a few times. Bravo!
Very nice little led panels those MC, controlling the lights wirelessly looks so cool , i have an M9 i wanted to love it but it lacks the brightness i needed comparing it with price but i replaced it kinda quick with a moman led light (u should take a look at it), 3 times brighter than M9, metal body, magnetic on the back, a little bit bigger battery and size but thinner than M9, oled info screen, bicolor, usbC and 2 mounting screw holes 1/4"
Killer video. It's just amazing what is available for the home studio these days. And I'm old-school, and used to old-school pricing... so, $90 for those, I consider almost free!
I think you could do with one of those lights as a light to show a catch light in your eyes, I do this with a small light at low level. great videos as usual I feel the need to buy a few of these for my studio.
The features are very similar to the Pilotfly Atomcube RX1, which has a bit more of a kick. This is Aputure though, can't wait to get my hands on this guy, I'm sure it's amazing!
The RX1 is awesome with considerably better specs, but near twice the price. AFAIK the MC and RX1 are the only lights using BT mesh on the market at present, however Aputure is going to be making all their lights controllable via their app in the future. Personally I don't need the RGB and would prefer an NP-F plate than an internal battery (especially with a 2 hour charge time). Essentially an AL-F7 with BT mesh is what I want from remote controllable lights.
I think what you don’t really hammer home is, ya it’s $90, but compared to the M9, or the F-7 (i own both) is the amount of features. I just got the M9 and the Mc was announced a few days later, and for an extra $45, I would more than happily pay for the number of features. The app alone would be worth it if I don’t have to go to the light every time.
Great review! BUILD REQUEST! Can we get a build video showing your best budget 2019 wireless monitor system that could support a wireless follow focus system with the smallest latency?? Your last video is a couple years old and I'm leary of 3+ year old technology these days when talking wireless. Thanks bro! Always love your presentation and information!
Love the light in principle, but after getting it, it seems like you can't use it while charging? This seems really dumb...I just want a continuous light...
hello caleb. thank you for the video. question: can you turn them on/off with the app? i see myself constantly turn my al-mx and m9 off to safe batteries when i use them. so it would be nice to control this by the app as well.
Great video! How many of these lights do you think you need to colour the background for one person using a panoramic background? I have seperate lights to light the person. Watched your video on vinyl backgrounds, which was also SUPER helpful. Cheers
As a Canadian, it's been bugging me to no end that the MC doesn't seem to be available here yet. Just wanted to drop a tip that Amazon caries something comparable to the Falconeyes F7, under the brand name "Koolehaoda". Seriously good, powerful and has a few of the FX modes... only missing magnetic mount and no modifiers included. But for $99CAD ($70 USD?) it's a screaming deal...

Yea I read your title in a Dr. Evil question voice due to your thumbnail. You seemed very unsure lol.

@@Hangs4Fun Unfortunately not, but that would be a GREAT idea!
Hi Caleb, What mount did you put the light on at 1:46?
I genuinely think your channel is so much better in terms of pure information than any other million subscribed channels out there.
Just got this as a gift and after messing with it for a couple minutes I watched your video and you brought me up to speed in 10 minutes, thanks!
I wasn't totally convinced until you showed how you can color match from your camera...freaking amazing!
Relax

I'm so psyched about the Disclosure at the beginning of the video
I always wanna redo my videos after watching you man 😂 Very in-depth, cool video dude
How you think I feel?!
A1Bokeh - 😂 All of us bro...all of us
I was under the impression i could use this light as my keylight, thank you for clarifying! you saved me some $$
That colour matching, that right there was the thing that peaked my interest. Product videography ooooofffff

wow thats some crazy lighting, ive been using 3 m9's for my studio, might get one of these for product shoot
The cadence of your voice creates a very nice ambience! Info useful as well :)
Fair play, 1st review that mentions OUTPUT...yes , my god its so straight forward, tk you for the info I required, other reviewers watch this guy ☘️☝️
that little square in creating all that Light, wow very cool
Thank you for such a great breakdown, we’ve just invested in one and soon to be several more lol it’s really cool! 🙌🏼💯🙌🏾
Oh dang, the MC RGB LED? And it’s a USB-C QI MC RGB WW LED with CCT HSI FX functions, BT and a high CRI?! Sold!
All the keywords
Acronyms FTW!
Mike Reda not IPX rated? No deal!
@@bruhdabones who cares about ipx ratings.. not a good deal because no EX ratings!

I've been enjoying these new a-roll shots in the new studio. Lookin' good, bud!
Those are some awesome little lights! I was expecting the price to be higher! Great video as usual!
THAT IS INSAAAAAANE!!! The colour picker feature has just blown my mind! Deffo on my Christmas list! haha
You have a very nice round head. Must be why you’re very smart and informative on lighting, photography etc.
Just grabbed this mc light by aputure im amazed with how well it works
Ah man your killing me! So many great lights, I just want to get all of them 😂 another great video very detailed and concisely delivered 👌
Is it the best light if you want your face to look good with no harsh shadows which create wrinkles?

These Lights are awesome! I use this product for my commercial shoots, and i am very happy.
This video sold me on your TH-cam desk. What a great setup.
I have two from these and I love them! One thing to remember is to upgrade firmware, otherwise colours are not correct.
I love the fact you said you can’t use it as a key light, that’s kind of what it was recommended to me for
What’s a key light
Great review. I just bought one and I love it!
WOW, it is really amazing and clicks all of the keywords (USB-C/QI, RGB, BT FTW) I am looking for. AND it is under $100...
Just bought one, it's such an awesome light!
Is it the best light if you want your face to look good with no harsh shadows which create wrinkles?
Picking it up just for the FX mode.
Great video as always. You said you were gonna put amazing content when you would move to your studio and thats exactly what you are doing.

Thanks for your review. Very interesting source of movie lighting. Interesting presentation. I'm most likely going to your presentation a few times. Bravo!
I did not know they where out. So i just picked up two from Adorama (the best camera store online) cant wait to use these in my next project

I'm definitely getting this light!!!!! thank you!!!!! You've helped me along the way and i appreciate your videos.
I was contemplating buying it and now after watching I neeeed this in my life
Was originally thinking of getting 1-2 of these, but after watching the video, I might pick up a couple ;)

thank you very much for detailed and entertaining explanation of RGBlight features! I appreciate it a lot.
Hmmm... Might gonna buy the four pack of them; i really want to play with those in portraits etc.
They really seem potent for the things, I'd do!
Very well explained and really appreciate your detail on its use.
The FX setting is so fun and crazy I love it. Great review!

Amazing to see your TH-cam desk setup in use 🙌🙌🙌
Wow, really great lights from Aputure. They're expensive but for the features it's about what you'd expect.
Great video. Recently bougt an M9 and now I'm already considering picking one of these up as well. Crazy versatile and the price is way too tempting.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS LIGHT! Saw them demo it at VidSummit. Definitely picking one up!
Dope! Definitely getting some of these! Will be fun to add colours!
Really awesome review man , Thanks!
Look at that sick desk setup!! Just take my money! 💰
Very professional and informative vid!! #thanks
I just bought the Pixel RGB light which is very strong but this one I will add for accent lighting. The color picker element got me. OFF THE CHAIN!

I just did a review of the Falcon Eyes F7 Min and really liking it as an alternative to this light.
i must admit, you really know how to set up lights
Great work as always

c'est sur !
Great ideas for lighting and mounting.
Great vid thanks! Looking forward to the kits.
You should look into the AtomCUBE RX1. It has the best of both worlds.
Fantastic video. Thank you for sharing!
ur welcome
Another great review, many thanks
Great comprehensive review!
Loved the video! Im wondering what tripods you were using to hold the lights?
Man these are sweet, hopefully in the future they produce some that are a bit bigger with higher output.
Look at GVM RGB light. It's larger 10x10 at $239

Very cool little light.
Thank you. Great vid. Love the versatility!
Wow, I buy two of them. They are just perfekt for my videos
I can't decide between this light and a Neewer 660 RGB light, which is way bigger but a lot more powerful too.

great review! think Philips Hue needs to learn a little from the app functions
Ok I've been avoiding watching this video. Because now I want some. Not one but some.
I NEED this. Only question: can you use it while charging if you're going to be leaving it on all day?
