My mechanic said that cylinder 1 injector is spraying fuel a teeny tiny bit faster than the other cylinders which is causing the misfire and also causing the car to run rich. He thinks it’s a tuning issue. Of course the tuner doesn’t think it’s a tuning issue. Tuner said he’s seen fa20 injectors fail. I have a Cobb intake, catted Cobb down pipe, boost solenoid controller, and protune. And here I thought I did everything safe, right, reliably, just to have a little more get up n go along with fun noises and I’m still having issues 🤷♀️
Why or why not go with tgv deletes? I was thinking about removing my intake manifold so I could also have an easier time with the turbo inlet hose and another video I watched someone else did the tgv deletes. Any pro's/cons to doing that?
It will require tuning adjustments but mainly only for people looking to make more power to smooth airflow into thr heads
how long did it take you my man? i don't want to start it now and finish past midnight lol.
Lol it took me about 3 hours to install these 😅
@@Smeedia lol reasonable for how deep in shit they are, ill replace the downpipe while im at it lol, thanks for the reply
Having a misfire on cylinder #4 no blue smoke coming out or weird sounds like knocking. I changed spark plugs ,but not coil packs or injectors. Was wondering your thoughts . Thank you 2010 sti with 106640 miles.
I'd start with moving coilpaxks around to see if it follows the coil
@@Smeedia it was a timing issue . It caused to skip and missfire , and its probably due to me launching alot . The issue is fixed 🙌 thank you for your advice.
I’m on stock injectors, I have Cobb 1050cc do I have to get a re tune for that if I put them on? I also purchased stock injectors but I don’t want the Cobb ones to go to waste
Yes you will need to get a tune for them 🙏
Does it need to retune right after swapping the injectors? Thinking to change out the huge 2000cc out to some smaller ones
Yes you will need an immediate return, the car won't know what's going on with the extra fuel or lack there of
Do you not need to upgrade the fuel rails when upgrading the injectors ??
Nope 🙏
So you take out all the old o-rings and don’t reuse correct? The Cobb 1050x I bought didn’t come with a new separate set of o rings unless the SUPER SUPER thin rubber seal attached at the very bottom of each injectior is the “new” o ring. Can you help me out?
Yessit that is the new O ring 🙏🙏🙏
@@Smeedia I appreciate you sir
I have an18 sti with a cobb intake and a cat back. I ordered a down pipe and have a appointment for instal and a e tune this week so is it a must to buy injectors?
Your tuner can keep the boost down to compensate for the lack of fuel, you just won't make as much power
What was that random hose from that you had removed and laying ontop of your intake manifold right befor you put your tgv motor back in?
Was the AOS Tube for the top of the head, just wanted it moved a little so I had more clearance
@@Smeedia ok thank you! did you have to deal with any fluid spilling?
Did you already have an aftermarket fuel pump installed before you put in the injectors?
Yes sir, installed it before starting the channel its a DW300C
Smeedia so you were using the fuel pump without a tune before running the injectors?
Yes sir, do not need a tune for just the pump
Are the pig tail extensions a necessity for this job?
Yes 🙏
Do I need to put those injectors shield back on? Would it affect anything ?
Nope throw them things away
Smeedia the shield were a bitch to take out from both sides, it was no good. I’m not putting them back on, I spent all day removing stuff were in the way then less installing
Do I need to remove the entire intake manifold to replace the fuel rails??? Please tell me it's possible without going through all of that trouble. Planning to try installing tomorrow. Thanks brother!
The fuel rails no, but the fuel lines yes 😖
Great video brother man
Thank you, appreciate the feedback 🙌
Hey, I have IAG TGV deletes running Cobb 1050 injectors. I installed them and lubed up the o ring like you said on a previous comment but they still seem to all leak. An employee at rally sport direct said I just need to used the old o rings on my previous injectors. Would that fix the problem?
No, unfortunately in my case I had 2 o rings rip ever so slightly and just needed to replace the rings and it fixed the issue
From what I remember the ID1050s (Cobb just rebranded them) use a 14mm O right or an 11mm. I beilive stock is not the same size
did you need to rescale the injector?
I did not need to
Hey tanner i know this is an old video, but with the banjo bolt, there is a hole in the center, how do we make sure that is all lined up correctly? And also same with tgv motor, how can we tell if the motor is on the gears?
When you pop the tgv cover off it can only go back on one way so no need to stress there. As for the banjo bolts what hole are you referring to?
@@Smeedia david from the discord helped me with the banjo bolt last night haha! Thank you though. And awesome thank you for the help with the tgv!
@@socialscaper312 what did you end up doing with the banjo bolt? Doing my injectors rn

What if I get 1050cc injectors on a stock 2015 sti and don’t get it tuned? I have a slight injector tick and wanna get slightly bigger injectors but I don’t know if that’s the way to go if I don’t plan on getting a tune soon
The car will send too much fuel and it'll run rich. Your going to need to get a tune for them 🙏
Smeedia okay thank you! , what if I got fresh stock injectors would that be alright?
That would be just fine 🙏
Smeedia Thank you 🙏🏽
One more question haha is a slight injector tick bad?, I’ve heard it’s nothing too worry about but I’d love to hear your opinion!
Nothing to worry about, the injectors can be noisy at times
Hey bro, is it ok to just put the fuel injector without changing the fuel lines? what iif i just run a sf intake and dp but get a pro tune with no fuel injectors and fuel pump? will it work that way? i have a 2015 sti. hope to hear back from you and thanks in advance🙂
Your tuner can manipulate the map so your not running as much boost to compensate for the lack of fuel but I do reccomend doing the fuel mods if your getting the pro tune 👀
@@Smeedia thanks i guess i have to wait till i get all the parts then do a pro tune. great videos by the way and thanks for the reply.
oh i almost forgot do i have to change the fuel lines when i install the fuel injector?
Hi, hope you are doing well. I would like to ask you for STI 15, to get the performance of COBB NEXGEN STAGE 2. Will it be enough AEM 340lph, 1050X, and the maps on their website to hit 310 hp, or what else do I need? Thanks.
With a proper pro tune yes with an ots tune no
@@Smeedia Thank you so much, will do!
You still have those blue injectors?
Yes I do! 😁
hi smeedia we just got e85 available here ontario what mods do i need to run e85 on my 2017 sti i currently have intake and exhaust and a etune.
Injectors, fuel pressure sensor, fuel pressure regulator, ethanol sensor and fuel pump 🙏😁
What up, Tanner? How you're doing good, my man. Would you happen to know where I can find the el pump fuse for a blobeye WRX? I need to replace my injectors. Would appreciate any adbice you can spare. 😁
I'd just unplug thr fuel pump electrical connector, going to be quicker and easier 🙏 you'd have to get to the relay to disable it that way
@@Smeedia Thanks so much, dude. I'll get on that...

2 bur it doesn't hurt to have some extra
@@Smeedia thank you! I ordered 5. You've been much help to me during my build process! Thanks for the great content!
Hi, my driverside injector is leaking air from the engine side and i cant get to it because of the shield.
My question is how you got the rear bolt off the shield? I can´t seem to get to it, any advice?
A stubby 12mm wrench is the best way I've been able to get that bolt out
@@Smeedia sorted it, but it's not going back in that's for sure 🤣
Lol don't blame you 😅 left mine out as well
How many WHP max out on the 1050X?
I was able to get a little over 400WHP on my 1050s on E85
Do you have any footage of the driver side install? I need to upgrade my fuel system because I have Tomei headers, uppipe, downpipe and a custom catback. I also have a Cobb intake but can’t install it yet because like you, I have to upgrade that fuel. So I need some knowledge, my man.😅
Only filmed one side, the drivers side is the same process but a lot easier, no banjo bolts in the way and the shield is a lot easier to remove. Sounds like you have your hands full! Lol
Smeedia Yeah, sorta. It’s crazy, man. This is my first STI and I’m looking for as much help as I can get. I’m also changing out my spark plugs once I do the injectors. After that, then I’m adding an AOS. Any other little things you can recommend?
Great video
Appreciate the feedback! 😁
You used the stock fuel rail correct?
Correct
Smeedia rite on thank you
Anytime!
Can I go stage 3 with everything except the fuel railes?
Is there a cobb map for the injectors?
Only for "stage 3" which requires additional modifications
@@Smeedia what do you recommend? I have to wait a few days before I could get it tuned. Should I just not drive the car?
Don't drive it unless you can get a base map from your tuner for the mods
Hi I just recently changed my gdb wrx stock injectors with an sti upon tuning it something is blocking me in the ecu and now the car is running rich on fuel...any advice to why and would changing the stock ecu to a new one would fix it? Thanks
I'm guessing the injectors were used, were they cleaned before installed?
@@Smeedia sorry for the late reply...I'm not sure I'm guessing yes but if it's not would that be a reason for the ecu not cooperating..my mechanic said maybe it was tuned before using a special software that's why its happening and his suggestion is get a new ecu and start from scratch..agree?
ECUs are a little pricey, I would not jump straight to an ecu. How does your mechanic know that the car has a tune from a mystery software? Most of the time you can overwrite the ECU with a new tune unless it is bricked.
@@Smeedia thank you..maybe it's time to find a new shop..anyway last question sir..atm my car has a catback exhaust, larger fmic,255 upgraded fuel pump, k/n panel filter and an sti injectors now I'm changing the turbo so I can tune it..would I look at vf34 or td05 turbo for upgrade? Thank you again(04wrx..auto)
I would go with the VF34 over the TD05 if you can snag a VF39 that would be ideal
POS you said you were gonna show the driver side that's why I watched it.
Drivers side is the exact same as passenger but the shield is easier to remove
Anyone know the torque spec on that banjo bolt? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Good N tight 😅
@@Smeedia thanks a lot 🤣😫
you have to put that bolt back in it helps hold your rail in place.
@Smeedia I'm curious, at the time of this injector install, did you also install the AEM fuel pump?
I already have both, but I'm curious if you were able to run injectors only with a Stage 2+ type tune.
I had a DW300C that I installed before starting the channel 🙏😁
@@Smeedia Oh ok. Thanks for the quick reply. You da man!
Was wondering why you didn't have the install. I was able to find one though.
@@Smeedia hey i have a dw300c i want to install now while waiting for my other stage 3 parts, do i need a tune to install just the fuel pump while I'm waiting on the rest of the mods that DO require a tune. Trying to get as much out of the way now before all the parts get in

Why? Not knowing the history of your mods- why new injectors?
To run a downpipe and intake combo on the 15+ reliably tou need to change the fuel system to compensate for the lack of fuel or you'll drop dam and run very lean
Been looking for this answer.
Appreciate sharing your knowledge. Just instaled cobb dp, cobb Sf intake and iag aos street series. Then boom dam went down 0.87 then ap stated that im running lean.
Had that issue, never seemed to be a problem on any prior STIs I've had. 🙃 glad that you were able to find the answer!
Also local staying in Tacoma area.
Any recommendation install besides fuel pump and fuel injectors?
Thanks in advance!
I would get the Cobb FPR as well to help with the fuel stumble issue 🔥
Still selling the injectors😂😂
Lol I tossed them like 3 weeks ago actually 😅 no one ever bought them or wanted them 😭
Do you need to tune after switching to after market injectors ? I think one injector is going bad on my Subie. I wanna future proof my car for mods
Yes you'll need a tune to properly scale the injectors 🙏
