Is there a physical difference between the two? Besides the spool cylinder? I've got a 151, so the lever is left hand, but the same, paired with a daiwa prorex xr 3-28gr, and I think it is a match made in heaven! 😱 That DC just works wonders, at setting one "1" you can cast so far with a 15-25 gr lure. Even in windy conditions ,just set it to 2 from the four and it works like a charm. This is the most forgiving bc reel I ever tried in 10+ years of baitcasting.
Thanks for the review on the 70. It helped me decide which speed I want to get. I already have a 150. I like the fact that you've used the reels for some time before doing the review. A lot of people do a review when the reel is new and then you never hear about the reel again.
I believe the reels are the same size. I haven't saved up enough for the 70 yet. From my research, difference is that the spool channel of the 70, where the line is held, is more narrower than that of the 150.
@@johnnyp2155 Life got in the way. So, I didn't get one yet. Soon though, probably a 71 lefty. I did notice a significant price drop of the SLX DC 70 since the release of new SLX DC 70 XT.
@@johnnyp2155 So I got my SLX DC 71, after you reminded me about it. So I now have both SLX DCs in both slow leftys to throw plugs in different shapes and sizes. I haven't used the 71 yet because I just got it today. Both reels are the same size. The 71 has a smaller crank than the 151 approximately 3-4mm shorter than the 151, from handle center to handle center. As mentioned, the spool channel in the 71 is narrower than the 151. To address that, the 71 has a different levelwind worm gear, compared to the 151. I tried spinning the spools and tried trading DC side plates to test how they act. It seemed like I'd hear the DC wine more from the JDM DC 71 mechanism when set to 1. I don't know what that means. If the DC 71 is set more aggressive than the 151 to cast lighter stuff? I don't know. I'm probably going to throw #6 mono in my SLX DC 71. I have #8 in my SLX DC 151. My other SLX XGs have #10 mono. 👍

The slx dc 150 is better for 50lbs braid and fishing jigs am i right? And i heard the slx dc 70 is more for medium light rod setups?
