Duuude, I've seen you in BassTheWorld's channel with some bangers but this is just a whole 'nother level. Videos like this remind me why StingRays are my favourite basses of all time. Rock on, Kade! 🤘🏼
I know everyone knows Justin for his badass Wal MK2 basses but little does the casual fan know that he has a music man stingray and used it on a few of the early tool songs. Probably more than we even realize since his tone is so similar whether he plays it, Wal, or even the Warwick he picked up a while ago.
After listening to all your material I can find I believe I can confidently say that you have a "sound", no matter the gear, and it's lightning my guy. 👍
Hey man, thanks heaps for watching. Yeah I guess it’s the recording and mixing process that delivers the final result. The audio is always looked at as best as I possibly can each track. Kade🎸
Hey dude. Thanks heaps, and I’m looking forward to getting back on stage asap too! So these straps are an Australian company not too far from home, it’s the neoprene strap. colonialleather.com.au/music/product-category/webbing-guitar-straps-2/neoprene-guitar-strap/?gclid=CjwKCAjw9J2iBhBPEiwAErwpecK7s_nn7ZNojEb05qp5o0o-yPpwpmyT3WhU4YFyKLn1cM0ajtP3xBoCnmIQAvD_BwE
I absolutely LOVE my 2003 Sterling and 2012 (now passive and parallel HB-only, a la Joe Dart) Sterling HS, greatest necks in bass history for me. And yeah, I can get some pretty Chancellor-esque sounds out of the former. Great playing.
This is an amazing cover and I love your little additions, like the hammer-ons at 3:50 - so cool. My only critique is that the action sounds a little low; I think the overall tone could be improved if it was less rattly. Tone sort of sounds like Fieldy on Korn's first record but with way more mids.
Your bass tone is great, I love it. You should run cover/sound like Tim Commerford (RATM). The world acclaims him! Tips for a mortal bass plaeyer Like me! jajajajaja. The argentinian bass players loves you! jajaja
I love your tones, man! What would you say is the most important part to this kind of tone except for the MM-Humbucker in classic Stingray position and the playing technique of course?
Thanks man. It’s a complete mix of everything all adding parts. Maple neck, the strings, the audio chain and then the mix are all as equal as each other.
@@KadeTurner yea ok, kinda guessed so. I have a 4-string Esh Various with an active EMG MMTW pickup (their MM-version) in the same position which sounds kind of similar. Was just wondering what details I could change to go even more in that direction, but I'll find out :)
@@NewAeonWarlordThe EMG will sound a little different no matter what you do. If you want to match this sound, you would need a very similar bass man, then you’d need similar recording gear, and then you’d need a similar mix haha. There’s no quick fix for tone sculpting and/or matching!
@@KadeTurner I know, I know ;) Was just wondering if there is anything specific that you always do for this kind of thing: I'm not trying to 100% copy sounds as it will hardly ever really work anyways and my music is different, too. Just trying to get close to some of those charactersistics :) Compared my Esh Various with a Stingray at a meetup once. those 2 are definately related but still somewhat different of course. Both sounded great though :)
I just finished a tool bass medely and all I'm struggling with is making it sound good from a cell phone. It's not quite loud enough and you can't pick up my bass too well while playing against the music. Any tips?
Hey man, you could try boosting the mids on your bass and see how this comes out. It’s impossible to answer this in a msg haha, but it is all in the eq when you’re blending tracks. Hope that helps. Kade
I'm so tired of people that try to tell good musicians how their INSTRUMENTAL covers should be seen and done. So f-n tired... If he's a good player, he plays it like HE wants it to be played, he doesn't refer to any standards. And he plays totally with barehand fingers, goddamit. I rarely see people that play like that on a 6-string guitar, man. So please mind what you write before posting. Musicians that come here are not stupid in any way, man. I would totally like to say that he is one of the virtuoso bass players of modern time. He sometimes doesn't even look at the fretboard when he plays. And I can tell you the same thing in 4 more languages, if you would like.
It's like when Ana de Armas speaks English... ...she doesn't sound authentically "American" and that's what we love about her (apart from her looks & personality). Disclaimer: I think anything played on a Stingray sounds incredible.
love the TONE! Awesome playing!
Thanks Heaps ❤️🎸
Yes! Great version of a great song
Especially love the slap fill into the 2nd verse and into the end of the bridge
Haha glad you noticed, thanks heaps man!
Great tone, beatiful bass, great dance moves! Cheers from Argentina, mate!

Yeah he does man, I’ve never played a Wal would you believe? Dad got me this bass in 2001 and I’ve kept it since.

@@KadeTurner I've seen one in person but never played one. I still slightly prefer the look and sound of Warwick but would love to try a Wal someday.
