You might be able to seal in the paper towel texture with several very lightly applied coats of spray varnish. Keep enough distance and the pressure more enough that it won't obliterate the design, and the coats thin enough that it won't saturate and soften the spackle.
Thanks Aaron!!! I hope you guys are doing well!!! That's pretty much what I did, I carefully painted on 2 coats of modpodge and water, letting it dry between, and it held the texture!!! I think it's a nice look for the pier next to the water, but I didn't do it on the foundations or sidewalk. Take Care, Bill
Have you thought about a nesting tower to place the levels on during game play? Something to set the levels on in order that doesn't involve stacking, restacking as play progresses downward? I'm thinking of a weathered wood apparatus similar in look to the pier pilings. Arching in a downward curve for protection and display as each level is completed and removed from the stack.
Hi Daniel!!! I haven't thought quite that far ahead yet. I do want a wood structure encasing the lower sections so it just looks like a display for the top, then as play progresses you can remove parts of it to reveal the subterranean levels. but that really it. As I move back into the above ground areas, I will do lighting and try to figure out the best way to separate everything. So far I think the above ground is pretty playable stacked, it's really when you go below ground where the play needs full top-down exposure. I like what you propose, is it like a curved staircase? That would be big, but would look really cool to have all the levels open and accessible. Thanks for the ideas Daniel!!! Take care, Bill
