Full camper tour of our Alto: • Alto R1713 Safari Cond...
Hello, I’m Joe and three years ago I took a motorcycle ride that changed my life, well… our lives. After living years with chronic pain and overcoming it with a plant-based diet, I decided to pack a dry bag on a Kawasaki Versys 650 and Moto-camp my way around Lake Superior.
Upon my return, Sherri quickly picked up on the travel bug that had bitten me and starting digging into TH-cam to find a place for us to live lighter, go farther and see more.
It wasn’t long before she found a TH-cam video walkthrough of the Safari Condo Alto R1713. We were in. And without ever seeing one in person, we sent in our downpayment 💵.
While awaiting the delivery of our little glass palace, we worked to put our entire small manufacturing business online. And in June of 2018, we did it!
And now after two years and over 300 nights in our little camper, we want to share what we have learned about living lighter and give back to this amazing TH-cam community that has provided so much information and inspiration.

Maybe #10 could be, make sure you camp with someone you get along with. You two seem like you’d be perfect together in any situation. You are very enjoyable to watch. Hopefully we will be purchasing a Alto next year.

Do you still love your Alto? We just bought a 2020. It’s still in storage because the battery died. We replaced it, but the electrical system hasn’t come back online. Advice welcome!

This is awesome! thanks for sharing your mistakes. We are buying an R1713 used (it's a 2013), so I'll be following you guys! I'm very sad that ours doesn't have those Movers, what an awesome detail. I wonder whether that could be added at some point. Also, when your camper is winterized, how do you manage the toilet situation? We'll be driving through the US to Mexico in January, so we need to know ! Thanks so much!

Don't know if I'll ever be able to afford one of these, but the tip I liked the most was the stick on levelers. That is brilliant. What caught my eye in another video is the "mover". Was that a factory accessory or something you ordered elsewhere to add on? If I decide to get a small camper and travel alone, I sure want a "mover"!

That's simple how to organize your clothes in a RV you use separate containers for different types of clothes and that way you just pick out the container that you are going to use for that day or night and they have also bags that you take out the air from the bag when your clothes are in it and it compresses and this way you can have even more space it's called a vacuum bag well that's my experience I like your video you guys are kind of funny keep doing the good work!

My wife and I have been watching your videos ever sense you picked up your Alto. We have been looking at one now for a couple years. Glad to see your still enjoying it and it is working well. We were worried about the motor to open/close it but if you have over 300 nights in it, we are confident it's bullet proof.

On sunny days another Keder rail on the drivers side could be useful. We could put a brow awning on to keep the Alto cooler. The inverter is not a must have but pretty nice on travel days to mic a frozen meal. We pretty much use everything we got as accessories. Great question! I hope you love yours as much as we love ours! Good luck!

Hey guys, love the videos. We started following you as we are contemplating an 1723 purchase (my wife wants a shower). Thank you for putting all the links on your video descriptions (Safari Condo, hose, levels, packs of peanut butter, etc.). However, I just looked at the address of your links and I realized that you do not have an Associate number on your Amazon links. If you sign up with Amazon to become an associate, then when someone clicks you link to buy peanut butter, you make a couple of cents. Without this, you don't even know how many people are using your links and how much Amazon is making off you. You never know .. it might add up to enough to buy a coffee! If you do this, you might want to add more product links to you other videos ("Top 5 Camping Kitchen Essentials", "Top 3 mods", etc.).That gives me an idea ... Top 10 Newbie TH-cam Mistakes!

Haha, just found you guys! We have a Mission Overland Summit with the truma system and we thought we had to run the water pump and water heater to use the heat. I am amazed we had enough propane for that trip. Also, we have had our trailer for one year now and our first trip out in April, we checked everything over but missed reconnecting the water pump to the truma. Imagine our surprise when I turned on the water at the sink and my husband saw water running in the trailer. We updated our spring list 😊

Those are great! Thanks for sharing! I know you showed a video about making the bedding you use with duvet covers, but I noticed here they were rolled up behind pillows. Is that for looks (looking good for TH-cam) or is there another reason/benefit? Is it troublesome to make your bed every time? AND last but not least, I know they aren’t sleeping bags, but do you have to worry about sliding off the bed since it isn’t wrapped around and just on top? Thanks again!!!

Thanks, didn’t know the water heater trick. I’ll look that up in the manual. Nope, didn’t make any other mistakes except parking our Alto in the driveway WEST of what we thought was a healthy maple tree. Unbeknownst to us the LGA would storm and send strong winds NORTH and topple the tree falling WEST against our house, then NORTH onto our Alto denting the front side and breaking the BFW. Then the tree continued NORTH to fall on all the cars in the driveway. NEVERMIND prevailing winds blowing EAST, but NOOOOOO, gotta go in the total opposite direction and hit every target available!!! Still I’m thankful because we succeeded in getting a whole new roof on the house, the car damage was covered. Now waiting for the border to open 21 Sept. Road trip back to Safari Condo. Great video, keep em coming! Let us know if you want a camping couple when you venture East.
