Thank you, Colin and Samir for such a detailed answer to my question! Especially for breaking down the video with Mr. Beast interview as an example. That's exactly what I needed. I wrote down a quote from this episode which I added to the list of my goals for this year: “As a creator you need to reduce yourself as the bottleneck as much as possible” This video definitely helped with some ideas on how to do that and how to organize the process better 😊
Great video. Being a TH-camr is very similar to running your own business. You should upload things people want to see, just like businessman should offer product/service that people need. And when the growth becomes real, you can consider hiring people to help you run your channel more efficiently. The most difficult part is starting and growing of course, but consistency and hard work (with a little bit of Famester of course to help) will always pay off at the end. Good luck to everybody, we will all succeed one day!!
As a new creator starting in TH-cam, I've learnt so much from you guys and I apply every single piece of advice, hence my channel is growing very fast. Thanks Colin and Samir
This was amazing. You guys not only went really in depth, we got a real insight into how you ACTUALLY manage your business, but also provided us with immense value. You not only explained issues and pain points of being a creator, but showed us how you find meaningful solutions in the day to day, and not in the superficial way I usually feel you do on this channel. The line between entertainment and informational content has been moved, and I think you're setting an awesome precedent regarding this channel's value prop. Not only do I believe in this format of creator support more, and ofc feel more included as a viewer, I also feel like I'm really getting value and insights I don't get to hear often from you guys or anywhere else - like if i was watching a Colin and Samir interview, but of yourselves! Thanks, love this
Nice to see how other creators work. I find filming well prepared makes it 10x easier. The smaller the time gap between shooting and editing can save 3-4x. My version of “show notes” saves hours later. These disciplines matter because we get better and more content out of the same energy put in. Thanks for the work you do guys!
I love that Jimmy helps them set up. True worker, not some big company head who expects his payroll to do everything for him. Glad this channel is staying alive, while being able to get the same beneficial content from before, now on the main channel. Love and appreciate you, Colin and Samir
10:37 I'm always confused how/why Collin and Samir stress out so much about thumbnails (including having Jay on as a thumbnail consultant) just to pick the "headshot + yellow highlighted quote" option 96 out of 100 times. Like they've got a lock on the branding by now, it feels like they can take their anxiety down a few pegs 😅
So great. Exec Producers Writers Showrunners Distribution company… Similar to traditional network/streaming. Would you consider YT and other platforms that show your content as “exhibitors” who share the revenue with you (the distributors) similar to a Universal Studios / AMC theater revenue sharing dynamic?
can't say I'm not a little sad that we won't be getting creator support podcast episodes anymore, but I very much ennjoyed this video! So awesome to see a couple levels higher than where most people are at rn.
I love the "new" setup for Creator Support! Do you offer a guide or a list of steps for creators that are launching a new channel? Or could you share some advice on how to create a strong launch pad for a new channel?
I do believe that there's value in this format and it might perform better overall - but I much prefer the last format. You guys just dumped a crazy amount of information (That I'm super grateful for) but it all happened soooo fast that my brain retained none of it and I feel like there was so much juicy and natural conversation that we're missing. This feels very check listy and I much prefer the podcast format. I think there's a happy medium - Record like you used to for the podcast, release the full audio on your podcast streams and then just use the footage to edit it more like this. And to be clear - Love what you all do - zero hate here! TLDR - slow down, my little brain can't keep up. lol
Love the vibe and very happy to see this channel is still getting support 🤣 One aspect I was missing is how the workflow changed over time. Did you always have research docs?
I create hiking and outdoor videos, and I always find your videos, discussions, and topics really interesting and inspiring! The flow of your speech is amazing; it enters my brain effortlessly although I’m not a native English speaker. 🙏
QUESTION: How do you A/B test thumbnails? What is that process like? Who are you split testing those thumbnails to? How are you tracking the results etc.? 🎥 Appreciate all you guys do! 🤙🏼
Question I have for you guys, is it possible to have a successful TH-cam channel while negating the analytical / algorithm mindset thats so prevalent these days? I’m currently 20 videos deep into my TH-cam career and I’ll be honest I currently don’t looks at my AVP or CTR or anything like that. Do I need to change this in order to amass a financially successful TH-cam channel?
I have a question, So having multiple projects at different stages of their lives is amazing, however for some small creators like myself, we are still balancing a 9-5 job and TH-cam. How can we start utilizing things like limiting ourselves as a bottle neck and working on multiple projects at different stages to ensure quality without breaking the bank with staff or having it take up too much time?
Question for a follow up: I understand the importance of the idea stage but how do you validate ideas? What are there steps you take to know that there is an audience for it? Do you scrap video ideas?
Wait you were in Italy?? That's soo cool! I'm honoured to have you step on my beloved Italy. I'm starting to think about leaving people with a vibe after they finish my content, like rewarding who watches my videos 'till the end I'll try for a year and see if works, thanks for everything guys 🖐🏽
Lights are rigged to the ceiling and controlled by an iPad so it’s consistent, cameras just take a few mins to set up and then I’ll just sit there and monitor the audio and cam angles (all cameras running into an atem mini pro iso so we can monitor on one screen) while David takes notes so pretty much just me and David (and Colin and Samir obviously)
I have a few questions actually. Hopefully I can have one of them answered or more! I really appreciate you guys. And I really believe in this so here’s my first question. As someone with 231 subscribers, how do you stack your metrics for success outside of focusing on the numbers? I guess to follow that up - what would be your best advice for someone with 231 subscribers? Striving to develop an audience. I have a niche. But I feel like I’m playing a losing game. As being on TH-cam feels less about skill or creativity and more about luck or following trends. Allow me to explain what I mean by that. Another few questions separate from this, how do you deal with the grief of a video not performing as you would have hoped? (Having spent 100 hours editing and working on, for it to only receive 150 views) I study the analytics and I feel like I’m doing the best that I can, maxing out retention and still keeping my creativity in tact. But to me it feels like TH-cam doesn’t reward creativity, it more so rewards what is familiar and seemingly low effort Content. Not to rag on commentary channels, but it really bothers me how well those do. Versus the channels with genuine creativity and passion for creating what they’re making Thanks guys! Love to see this channel back up in its new and improved form!
Love the car vibe! I know there are like, a million videos online about what makes a good thumbnail, but I would really love to hear your guys's opinion on it! Keep up the good work (I also hate having a wet bandage on my finger. It sucks)
Loved this. Curious what insight you (or others you know) have on making time to record videos? I’m a small channel and have spent months writing quality videos. However, I haven’t recorded because of starting grad school, moving states, and having my first child.
Love the new workings of Creator Support. Got a question that I feel like nobody talks about, seasonal niches. My channel is dedicated to snowboarding which means regardless of my upload schedule through the year, the audience mainly only shows up from December to March. This creates a 4 month window for my channel that feels extremely make or break. Do you think this is a common experience for creators on TH-cam, and any advice on most effectively creating content for such a small fraction of the year?
Interview maps are so useful. I've moved to transcribing the audio live and having an AI tool create the map for me. Not perfect, but a great start similar to Auto pod. (It's also useful for detecting unfinished conversations/ topics & providing good questions - all live)
I’d love a video on signing with an agencies, there’s not a lot of information on this topic ! At what point in your career should you look for agent, what are the average rates (ex. At 50k, 100k subscribers ?), what is the range of % that agents take from brand deals, what type of agreements can you expect to find on a contract with an agent, what are red flags in a contract, how long do contracts tend to last ?
How do I build a team that I can trust? I am a creator starting out my podcast, I have hired a bunch of people to do the thumbnails, editing and managing the podcast. Being a filmmaker myself I feel I can do the edit myself and the shooting, how the intro should look like, all these things that I feel will build with time. But the work done by the team is not exactly how I imagined it to be, and that does create a gap in bring my actual vision to life. How do I find the right talent who I can actually trust and rely on? Btw loveing the videos lately, been a core supporter
This show feels so much better as an off-the-cuff Q and A back in the ol' car setup! Smart move lads.
Thank you, Colin and Samir for such a detailed answer to my question! Especially for breaking down the video with Mr. Beast interview as an example. That's exactly what I needed.
I wrote down a quote from this episode which I added to the list of my goals for this year:

This video definitely helped with some ideas on how to do that and how to organize the process better 😊
I love these car talks. please bring them back. so helpful.
Nothing beats the car
I honestly miss the old sit-down podcast format. But I get that you guys only have so much gas in the tank, so I’d say go with whatever works for you.
Great video. Being a TH-camr is very similar to running your own business. You should upload things people want to see, just like businessman should offer product/service that people need. COLIN AND SAMIR UPLOADING TO CREATOR SUPPORT LETS GOOOOOOOOO
Aggressively taking notes.

So you're gonna keep this channel alive for more in-depth episodes?
This is my favorite piece of content I've seen you guys make in a while 👍 feels OG
Love the new vibe. Feels old school C&S, especially with the nod to the car. Very helpful for the creative 🙌🏽
More of this pls!!! Any Colin and Samir content I am here for. I wanna learn.
Oh we are so back
"Never stop promoting your stuff, especially if you're proud of it" this is massively important!
Worth getting in the deepest end when we are transported to Italy

Loving how this turned out! The car was a perfect _creator-format fit_ as it calls back to old videos for longtime fans
My favorite video on this channel

My question is, when can I make you a custom Colin & Samir surfboard for your wall?
Cheers
So excited to watch this one
How do you support this whole operation?
How do you avoid burnout, are there any routines or best practices you follow?
oh woow - is this samir and colin? Kinda surprised people recognized you since you are sitting in the wrong order :D
Samir and Colin for life

Love being back in the car and this episode had really valuable info 🎉
This video really nails the importance of a solid framework for generating ideas.
7:29 "tell me your in your mid 30s without telling me your in your mid 30s"
hell yeah, glad you're back in the car
Those look like first-class seats to me... our boys are living the good life!
What about if you're a one-person "team"?
Love it. Love the car vibe. Love the insight and love the gripe comment about wet bandaids 😂🙌
Great stuff guys
I love this type of format/style of video!
Love to see videos again from the car !!
Love the vibe and very happy to see this channel is still getting support 🤣
One aspect I was missing is how the workflow changed over time.
Did you always have research docs?
looooooved this episode, such a great topic would love to continue seeing more of the bts and workflow of the team

Love this channel so much, these videos are so good!
Button up looks fresh Samir - vibe and flow is smooth w this format
This is very cool to see
I was curious to ask - what made you change the intro/outro theme for the main channel? Anyways, loving the content and can't wait to see what's next.
I create hiking and outdoor videos, and I always find your videos, discussions, and topics really interesting and inspiring! The flow of your speech is amazing; it enters my brain effortlessly although I’m not a native English speaker. 🙏

A very helpful episode! I shared this with a group chat of mine
after watching this episode of creator support, as I creator, I feel pretty supported. thank you colin and samir.
Question for a follow up:
I understand the importance of the idea stage but how do you validate ideas?
What are there steps you take to know that there is an audience for it?
Do you scrap video ideas?
Love from India brother
Love this! Super helpful and a great way to use this channel!

missed this channel!

Love this format
Amazing video!
Can you show us how you did the Jesser video
