Well every actor comes in to promote. Here Cage, an artist first actor second, was so involved in discussing his art he had to be reminded to promote his film. Both of them are real artists, dying breed. Now all we have is minions of power doing social engineering.
According to Nick this was the last time he was on a late night show - until this week (on Kimmel) - which is hard to believe. He was in 2 great movies last year.
Peggy Sue Got Married is such a wonderful movie. Nic is great in it, and I think the voice works because his character is such a vulnerable guy. I never even thought his character was even comedic, but the movie itself is sad, funny, and brilliant all at once. His uncle is such a genius.
you may know this but he named his son Kal-El which is Supermans real name he was given on Krypton. Cage was downplaying that situation with the movie not being made,,it was a huge deal when it fell thru and kinda messed with Cage for many years
I just realized that this isn’t a recent interview, but from 2007. They spent five minutes talking about Nick Cage’s extensive acting career, and he’s had another dozen, at least, since then. He’s even starring in a new movie this year in 2022.
He got into a series of legal issues and huge debts after this interview. Only this year had he managed to pay off all his debts, that's probably why he started to appear on talk show
One of the best moments of this interview (and there are a few) is when Conan does Superman with the Gumby voice, and you see Cage light up a moment later and join in, and then Conan lights up. That's just raw fun.
Nicholas Cage is so talented, funny and charming. His voice reminds me of the very first sip of a perfectly chilled sweet wine. Yeeeessss!!! I love him!
After this, every subsequent Cloppy segment began with the Cloppy intro punctuated with Nic's endorsement from this interview -- "who I really love is Cloppy the Horse".
Wow.. when I was like 4 or 5 my parents bought me a Dog and I remember naming it "Pokey" lol... For years and years I've always remembered it as a name I just thought up but I used to watch Gumby a lot growing up and I completely forgot Pokey was the Horse.... I must have got the idea from the show. Goes to show how fickle a memory can be lol.
Huge missed opportunity! After Nic realizes that he was actually born in the year of the dragon he should of said, "I decided to put the bunny back in the box!"
Nic Cage is a much better actor than many of the hollywood "big names". He doesn't just play himself doing another job like a lot of oscar baiting actors do.
"Sometimes you're a dragon, sometimes you're a bunny"--Nic Cage, saying the most Nic Cage line ever, but also a quotable truth about life.
6:19 for cloppy
I came just for this comment…you’re awesome
You're the real hero here
Same 🙌🏻
Nice.
Not all heroes wear capes
Nick Cage speaks so eloquently. Loved this interview.
Who's here from the podcast? Had to hear "I love Cloppy" for myself 😂
Me too😂 immediately after the I listened to it
Yup 👍 Ive never seen Cloppy bit before. Somehow. Cheers
YT actually brought me here.
Seriously just paused the podcast and went here lol
What podcast
Who else is here because Conan and Don Cheadle made you think to look for this clip?
im here for all the comments that want the validation of doing the thing everyone else is doing
who else?
The algorithm found it for me.
@@1RungAtATimeyup, watched the podcast clip, this was the top hit when I refreshed the feed, lol
Me
“ I like kloppy!”
Nic has to be one of the most original actors in cinema. So unique.
This is probably Conan's most professional interview. He seemed truly interested here.
Yeah Conan was like a fan of Nick’s!😂 He is a favorite great actor although! Still looks fabulous them Italian stars!🤩🥰
Well every actor comes in to promote. Here Cage, an artist first actor second, was so involved in discussing his art he had to be reminded to promote his film. Both of them are real artists, dying breed. Now all we have is minions of power doing social engineering.
conan knows he's lucky to have him as a guest.
It’s nick cage bruh….. the thespian 🎭
Seems? He is.
“My uncle had to talk to the studio” oh, you mean, the director of the Godfather movies and Apocalypse Now, Francis Ford Coppola.
Subtle
Yeah no biggie !!!
Some power of persuasion right there, I’d say.
He made the studio an offer they couldn't refuse
I’m glad his uncle did that, because cage is one of the best actors ever.
According to Nick this was the last time he was on a late night show - until this week (on Kimmel) - which is hard to believe. He was in 2 great movies last year.
He was at least on Craig Ferguson's Late Late Show inbetween, in 2010: th-cam.com/video/18RI4sFfkgo/w-d-xo.html
He said his last talk show was 14 years ago. This was 15 years ago.
he was too busy making shitty movies, thought this was common knowledge.

one of my all time favs
Who saw "Birdy" ?
He never returned afterwards, such a shame! Nick seems like a chill guest.
Wow, that's hard to believe!
Maybe he didn’t like Conan’s Nick Cage Terror Level joke from a few years back saying he has a bunch of awful movies
I think he simply stopped going on talk shows altogether. He was on Jimmy Kimmel recently and said it was his first talk show interview in 14 years
They reposted it cause he was just on Kimmel.
@@1BergerVongSchlauigkeitHer Probably because he have a new movie out.
So cool realizing Cage is literally a Conan fan
I still regret the studio not casting him as superman. I think it would have been a very cool take on superman.
He still got to voice him in the Teen Titans Go movie at least
@@rhetiq9989 That's cool I didn't know that.
it would have been terrible but it would have been worth it for the culture
you may know this but he named his son Kal-El which is Supermans real name he was given on Krypton. Cage was downplaying that situation with the movie not being made,,it was a huge deal when it fell thru and kinda messed with Cage for many years
@@cBodhi Yikes. I didn’t know he named his son Kal El- I hope that was before the would-be movie and not after the fact.
Nick Cage's "Goodnight, Lois" got me lolling pretty hard. So Good!
ME TOO, ROFLOLMAO!!!🎉😊
Came here from Cheadle on Conan needs a friend button.
Same! The cloppy bit was hilarious
Coco and Nic Cage, there can be no better combination.
Banana and custard.
@@perriponders289 I love how Schlansky goes on a rant on Conan needs a Friend about his ego and brings up interviewing Olyphant. So Funny
all wrong. best combination is Conan and Bill Burr, no doubt about it
Cage and Goldblum. Just cut Coco out.
Never thought I’d be fully entertained and obsessed with NIC SAYING BUNNY! Now I gotta rewatch Con Air
Lord of war is probably a favorite movie of mine. Cage was so good in the movie, almost made Jared Leto bearable.
He was incredible in Requiem

Are you not familiar with Conan? This is from Late Night, which went off the air in 2009.
He’s been in wayyyy more than dozen movies since 2007. He’s in 2-5 movies a year.
He got into a series of legal issues and huge debts after this interview. Only this year had he managed to pay off all his debts, that's probably why he started to appear on talk show
he has that bigger than life aura, the interviews are like watching a movie
This is one of my favorite interviews!
Thank you for the love and support, Tell me how long you have been my fan ❤❤
He’s been gutsy since day one - that’s what makes him the goat.
He’s also very much a bunny - & everyone loves bunnies!
That "Put that bunny down" scene has a deeper meaning now

They talked about this on today’s podcast episode
Sometimes you're a dragon, sometimes you're a bunny - best life wisdom
I saw Nicolas Cage few days ago in Kimmel Live and he's super nice guest! I hope to see him more in late shows (plz don't go to Fallon)
Conan's team saw it too which is why we got this classic clip today.
He was just on Corden too with Aaron Paul
why don't go to Fallon ?
WOW THE GOOD OLD DAYS... Wish Conan was still on NBC... Thanks for posting this 🙂
6:30 I love cloppy
Lost in the sea of boomerhood, I've just now realized Gumby's legs represent bell bottoms. Thanks for saving the clip Conan.
Hello Margaret, how are you doing?
😊
Thank you for the love and support, Tell me how long you have been my fan ❤❤
I guess you can say after he found out about the Korean year of the dragon, he got to put the bunny back in the box
IKR?! I’m surprised none of them made a con air reference 😊
Cage is so much a different person when he's off screen. He's nothing like any of his characters, interesting. The way he talks is just vibing
Dude’s a natural gifted artist. Like Jim Carey, and Johnny Depp.
The best actor ever.
My all time favorite actor. Kevin Costner is epic too but something about Cage is just so entertaining…
The Guardian is very underrated ...
Both have so many bad movies in their resume, but still... yes, great.
Sometimes you're a dragon, sometimes you're a bunny.
I listened to the podcast yesterday, and this video was in my feeds today.
Conan, this is madness. You are on fire here. So wonderful to watch
Cage is just so brilliant, good stuff!

Nicolas' Pokey impression is great
Ghost Rider is unironically an incredible movie.
when nick does that voice he sounds like quagmire haha
I would love you see Cage interview with Jeff Goldblum. The chill vibe would almost be too much coolness for our space-time continuom
John Travolta as nick cage as castor Troy as Shaun archer
Cage could hold a masterclass in charm.
Nicolas Cage is off the charts entertaining.
You can tell Conan is legit a big fan. Cage is that man.
Nick Cage lives in another dimension haha
Gumby plays an Firebird! 👍
I love Nic's implication that working three days in a row makes him tired.
here from don cheadle's appearance on conan needs a friend podcast
Wow! According to Google, Nick made about 103 films so far at age 58 years old.
Conan @2:56... "Now you've gone too far."
That could be a real contender for Nicolas Cage's acting epitaph.
Probably my favourite actor ever- so diverse
Cage put the. Bunny back in the box
Conan is best around.
Sorry watch graham Norton
Red Rock West.
My favorite Nick Cage film seemingly nobody has ever heard of.
It's a must see.
Yeah, I don't get why that movie is so highly thought of. It was fine, but nothing particularly stood out.
Cage is an absolute dream
6:22 Thanks Nicolas Cage for sending me on a Cloppy binge, it has been a few years.

Gonna rewatch Ghost Rider just because of his description
"Mandy" is completely bonkers, but I really enjoyed it.

I sometimes like to think aboht his performance in Raising Arizona and think... Oh yeah, this is THAT GUY.

Omg, the dragon bunny thing happened to me too, at 33yrs old lol.
That voice is more like Glenn Quagmire
Just watched Peggy Sue Got Married again last week. Such a cool movie.

I want these times back when moviestars still made good (non-political) movies and had funny stories to tell.
Love Raising Arizona! Maybe because it's so different.

Clean cut at the end there.
In Vietnam calendar he would have been a Cat😂
That's not a Pokey impression, that's a straight-up helium voice!
