I just bought a 2005 potiac GTP 3800 and it's super clean in and out. Listed as "needs fix don't know the issue " come to find out it was just a wheel sensor for the traction control. I can seriously dive this car across the US and back. Definitely scored and its a supercharged

Randy my best friend had the same problem with his 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix and it turned out to be the ignition module. If you get a DX Code P0301 do not waste your time change the throttle body and replace the ignition module. Best decision you will make.

Randy that car is a steal. with small issues that you can fix super fast and for not too much money. I like those gran prix. They hold up really well and one of my former coworkers owned one with over 300.000 miles on it. Still ran great but i think he must have replaced the trans on it. Still, for the money there are not too many cars that can match what you get for that money.

Ok so listen up all pontiacs have a design flaw go to your dealership by the gm recommended spark plug cables and some new plugs
The cheaper plug wires in pontiacs don’t work and will display a engine service light if you use them they cause a ark off of the cable to the engine block giving you a misfire and service engine code

I had a Fusion orange '04 GT 2 for 5 1/2 years. Bought it with 3400 miles on it and traded it when it had 55000 on it. It was a great car and I still miss it. One thing to be cautious about, make sure the valve cover gaskets are good. This generation 3.8 had a reputation of leaking oil and catching on fire.

Those drive by wire throttle bodies are just a nightmare when they are not working and after you fix it. Be sure to reset the adaption valve on the ecu to be safe cause it will make a map sensor error code as well if not been reset. I don’t know if it will do it on this car, but on the Hyundai’s and fords it does that.

Now my Copart Mustang I am getting ready for spring and having great fun doing it. I found $18 in change, beach boys CD, and 1 unused baby diaper, cost to tow it was $169 minus the $18 in change I found, so $151 to bring it to me. Unfortunately, GM really screwed up the '04-'08 Grand Prix. The '97-'03 is SOOO much better. I have one GTP of each era. Only good thing about the newer one is slightly more power. Unfortunately, the newer one is designed badly, put together badly, rusts and has terrible plastics and ergonomics. The '99 is pushing 230K, the '04 has been parked for about 5 years. I've never parked a car that could still pass emissions and wasn't full of rust... but this one needs so much brake and suspension help and I couldn't keep other parts from failing constantly.
    Good luck with yours.

I think you've been very lucky to this point. In my humble opinion, you should use your little towing dolly to bring back all the vehicles unless they are specifically listed as run & drive. It's just (a) common courtesy [specifically in this case to the other customers that you inconvenienced] and (b) a matter of safety. If that car had broken down in the middle of a busy junction, it may not have just caused havoc with the traffic, but maybe a serious accident.

Absolutely, the 3rd generation 3800 has an aluminum intake. The older plastic intakes would leak coolant into the cylinders and it would hydro lock. The coolant elbow(s) are prone to fail. Luckily there's aftermarket aluminum elbows for a few dollars more than plastic.

Got a grand prix as my first car about a year or two ago, for 300 dollars with an oil leak, power steering leak, and coolant leak, but after fixing the coolant leak it ran like a steel. Around about 2k invested and it's been driving for a couple years or so everyday.

Had the same car....all you need is a gas pedal... it's drive by wire and I had the same issue. I use to drive my car with a scanner deleting the code while driving too get rid of the Reduce Engine Power. Change the pedal 1st 2nd change the TPS

I got my pedal from a junkyard but what sucks is GM didn't use that same pedal in a lot of cars a 01' - 02" Monte Carlo SS uses the same pedal if you want to go the cheap route good hunting...GT Riding!!!!😎👍

You could buy Sony AX53 camcorder. Even as an additional one. Would be much better for low-light also. Cool car though ;)

If you're planning on keeping it. Change the thermostat, timing belt and water pump. If it ever gets warm its done.

looks like you need your own flatbed tow truck.. or a 5th wheel trailer for the ford....or car trailer.. the one with the winch on front and lifts all 4 wheels.. you cant keep putting your self and others in unsafe condidtions.. like random brakedowns while drivin. you made it home.. god is good.. but what coulda happened? be safe man!!

How hard it easy is it for a regular person who’s not a car flipper to get a car from copart? I’ve got a young man coming up on driving age and was thinking of getting him a car or truck from there for his first car.

Randy has a older video on how to get started with Copart. Randy, & Vehcor inspired me to get my 1st Copart car 2 months ago. I got a white 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT coupe with 108K miles for 500 bucks. 👍 I feel like I stole it!

Haha another peek into how we all probably feel deep down, it's trouble and stress at the time but when all's said & done and you're at home with a cheap, cool car that wasn't even supposed to run, it was one hell of an adventure. Bummer that you lost the audio & footage, that would've been fun but i doubt some of the language would've been suitable for more sensitive viewers lol

A good cleaning, paint job, and the throttle body replacement would make this perfect, just like you said.. But i would also check on the brakes throughly

The no audio footage reminded me of a rich rebuild tesla video wen he went to his friends to change out the battery pack one night and he did a voice over nearly the whole video. It was a great video, so had you done a voice over on the wild journey back home Randy I think it still would have been great content.
