    The Accords of this era were built so well, especially the ones with the leather interior. It’s not uncommon to see higher mileage examples like this with immaculate interiors

    I'm so into this rebuild. I bought a 2000 EX Coupe for $300 about a month ago. Same codes. P1399 and P0300-306. Looking forward to your solutions. Rebuilding it with my 16 year old son and he is into it! I came home the other day to him cleaning the EGR passage, had the whole intake off. Thats a proud moment. I wish you luck!

    Hi Randy! Long time follower, and Honda fan. Any Honda dealer can get you a radio code from your VIN. They just need to see proof of ownership and see the car to verify VIN. My local dealer did not charge me, but I have been buying cars from them for over 25 years! Keep up the hard work!

    I have a 2006 Honda accord V6 pushing 225,000 miles and it's been a wonderful car with no sign of slowing down at all. Got it from Copart for $525 plus fees, replace all the engine mount myself and its been 30,000 miles of fun driving. That was my first with a Honda and I can tell you, I fell in love with it.

    Randy. I have been a subscriber for a while now and have watched many, many of your videos. As funny as it may sound, I am more interested in this Honda than I have been in a lot of the cars on the channel lately. I owned a 2000 EX with the 4cyl from new, and LOVED that car. I lost it to a chain reaction accident (was in the middle) on a Los Angeles freeway. I did have to have the transmission replaced under warranty (thankfully) so you are not wrong about the transmissions. I can't wait to see how it progresses.

    That's hard to call a deal. Sold a non-salvage 2001 EX V6 coupe three years ago, fully loaded, 224k miles but nothing wrong with it, for $1,850. Tried asking for more but got no offers until I lowered it significantly.

    • @siflsockpuppet
      @siflsockpuppet 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Moecean Agreed, but there's a huge difference between $2,500 and $3,500-$4,000. Mine was higher mileage but three years newer (because it was three years ago). Excellent deal! I have been looking for these 6th gen v6s for a while now and they are all too expensive or have a torn interior. You got so lucky to have that perfect interior because most people don't usually care for these old cars properly. Also, the transmissions on V6 Hondas can just be jerky from the factory (it has always been on my 2014 accord v6).

  • @HP_Quinn

    I recently got my 2001 Honda Accord EX V6 sedan at 183k miles for $999. Had the timing belt done at the Honda dealership and switched to a full synthetic high mileage 5W-20 oil. When I was getting it smog tested, [yes it passed,] the technician said he was surprised how quiet and well the car ran for its age. I've always loved Toyota & Honda. Crazy how Nissan sedans a decade newer sell for the same price (if that tells you something lol) ... Anyway, I haven't had any transmission issues thus far, and have not had any check engine light come on. Put it through the OBDII scanner, everything came back looking good.

    I had 2000 Accord V6 had 188,000 miles it was a great car. All I did was oil changes, brakes, tune ups timing belts and tires. That V6 when tuned up is deceptively fast. It handles well in all weather. I now have a 2015 Accord 3.5 L Earth Dreams V6 that is really fast. They no longer make the V6 for the Accord, I think that was not a good decision by Honda. Changes the plugs and check the coils and clean the injectors.. If the previous owners did regular oil changes it should be fine and hopefully not some valve train part. Looking forward to hearing more about this project.

    On the J series Hondas which is exactly what that V6 Accord is I usually see the passenger side motor mount go bad as well as the front hydraulic motor mount. Personally I recommend replacing all of them with Honda Genuine motor/transmission mounts. It just makes it ride so much better with all new OEM ones. I'm really not a big fan of aftermarket parts on Hondas especially with the ignition coils, unless they are NGKs. In fact, I will tell you from experience that unless they ignition coils are bad, if they are the original Honda genuine ones, DO NOT replace them with any aftermarket coils, again unless it's NGKs. Anything else I believe is garbage. I know a lot about Hondas myself and I am the owner and founder of the Honda Pilot Owners group on Facebook, so if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out and join my group. We'd be happy to help you out.

      Different markets dictate used car values. Old Honda's probably have strong resale in Oklahoma where he lives... Here in Detroit old Honda's are almost worthless clean or not.

    • @southernfarmtech
      @southernfarmtech 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Definitely depends on the market. I think 4k is on the high side, but I definitely see it fetching 3k. Here in the South, old Honda Accords and Toyota Camry's are hot as firecrackers. So much so that the Honda dealers and Toyota dealers have stopped wholesaling them, and they keep them on their lot and sell them for that nostalgic factor. They never last long. If you see one on a Honda lot, 1-3 owners, clean, dealer maintained, all documentation, less than 200k, they rarely last a week.

    Hey Randy I've been watching your channel for a while. I love it, very unique in comparison to everyone else who is doing the same shit every day. I've always been a Honda and Toyota guy since the late 80s.
    You should try your luck with Toyota's. They have great resale value and are easy to fix and maintain. The late 90s and early 2000s Toyota Camry's are indestructible. The 4 cylinder Camrys and Corollas don't use timing belt, they use chain so you wouldn't have to worry about changing the timing belt.
    Also parts are everywhere since these cars are popular. I live in Toronto Canada and those are the most popular cars to flip.
    You won't find it hard to sell a decent Camry or any Toyota.

    Randy, I have owned this same car for the past 16 years. Your correct about Transmission going out early mine went out around 12000 miles. The motor mounts and the power windows also like to go out early. The EGR is notorious blocking up with carbon. Also please don’t try to buy after market air cleaner to improve the engine sound. Your just going to end up with engine trouble codes to fix. Currently my Honda Accord 6 cyl 3.0 car has about 165000 miles. Also the timing belt and water pump were done at 145,000 miles.

    You can get the radio code on the internet directly from Honda. You will need the radio model code, to get this hold the 1 and six buttons when you turn on the unit. Front motor mount under the radiator is probably worn out. Multi misfire on one bank could be a shorted injector, just something to check if the coil is not your issue.

If the code stays on cylinder 4 Try a spark plug, if that doesn't get it I'd try a compression test next. If everything above doesn't get it I'd suspect a bad fuel injector. I just went through the process with a relatives Camry. Bought plugs, wires and coils. didn't fix it. The condition of the interior was a very good sign for that one. Honda interiors of that age don't last too well if they're not taken care of, especially the leather. The fact that that one has a very nice interior for a car with 175k miles on the clock is a very good sign that the owner/s took good care of it. Perhaps, if the original owner had bought it in a lighter colour, the paint would have stood up better to the sun and heat. The fact that someone had gone to the trouble and expense of buying new bonnet/hood struts rather suggests that they were intending on keeping it for a while longer until circumstances changed for them and the car got donated, and they wouldn't be doing that if it was worn smooth, or putting new tyres on what look like recently refurbished alloys...

    That Honda Accord its almost like mine. I have a 98 Accord 4cyl. Mine is black with terrible clear coat and paint, but interior is almost perfect. I stopped driving it at 110,000 miles when I upgraded my commute vehicle, earlier this year. It was a great car, gotta see what I can get for her, Honda, great car, but too many cars on insurance, lol..

    Randy, I would still say Save the Buick because you can prob get an engine for it for about 400 bucks, clean it up and send it down the road for a profit (Besides the content winnings on the channel). But I am always super happy to see a 6th gen Accord on the channel. Ought to look amazing with the Maaco Paintjob.

    If the accord had a transmission problem that the computer can pick up. The green indicator light (what gear car is in) on the instrument cluster would be flashing . As for the miss fire that can be a timing belt . Or number of other things

    As for the transmission if you have any issues the have Shift solenoids that go bad all the time.
