Im 44. Ive decided to get my sea legs and go work for a cruise ship. While i was researching credentials for that job, I i came across this job and a few channels with women merchant mariners.
Im 44 almost 45.
Im going to get my credmetials through the cruise ship job, save some money and then apply to SIU.
Deck or Galley. Not sure yet.

I really hope if you go forward with SIU that you make a blog or journal or TH-cam channel showing everyone what life as a merchant mariner is like! I'm 57 (ack!) and have gotten a job offer from MSC but I had to decline (90 year old mom, sickly family, so couldn't be away from home), but I'm still incredibly interested in hearing about more mature folks' life starting out as a mariner.

Is your room ever inspected, so you have to keep bed made, and everything clean? Have you ever had to share a room in your career, or have you always had your own room and bathroom?
Yes certain ships have inspections throughout your contract, some maybe a hit and miss. I never had to share a room but a bathroom yes.

About a month. I kept going to the hall everyday
