Thanks for posting! I've followed you since the beginning of your piney point adventure. I start piney point in Jan 2025. So ready! I'm older than average (mid 30s) and am restarting as I hate my current career. Your channel has given me the most information so far. Thanks for sharing!
I deeply appreciate you!! Being that I also live in Florida, you process getting to SIU and engineering solidified my decision. You’ve been such a motivation and help, I’m going to try to get in by November. Do you have an IG?
I started the process with SIU in February this year and have a class date of Jan. Seems they're backed up about 11 months. 10 months from your interview date. roughly.
You look so happy. It agrees with you out there. Thanks for giving us a glimpse. I'm trying to figure out if I should just plan to stop at walmart once I go through the airport to get my hygiene products that are larger than 3.4 ounces or whatnot that can go through the TSA. I dont want shampoo etc to explode in my luggage or get brand new bottles taken from me by TSA. Any advice on that kind of thing? You know, most people, when they fly, are only going somewhere for like a week or two, not needing to have everything they need for the next 120 days. Feel? Appreciate any insight you can share on how you prepped for that. Like, you showed your big Aquaphor lotion.. probably too big to go through TSA. So, did you buy it near the ship b4 you got on. Thanks!
@@mkwashington2612 luckily for me the ship I was just on has really good service so I didn’t run into that problem to often but when I did I just got on my game I brought my ps4 and Nintendo switch
Hiii I’ve been waiting for your new video lol. Thanks for sharing your journey. I’m still waiting for my MMC which is taking forever but my medical certificate was mailed out this week. Btw I’ve heard that SIU is backed up so not sure how long their hiring process will take cause I’ll have to wait till next year 😏☹️
My port interview was in march after doing my paperwork in feb. My report date is Jan 2025 and that is earlier than they expected. Some people don't follow through and I moved up the list. They originally told me March 2025. Looks like they're telling people 1 year from their interview date.
How is it being a women working in a predominantly male field? Please speak on your experiences. Also, I know mariners are on the ships weeks and months at a time but how is the schedule? Another content creator says they have 12 hours on and 12 hours off. Do you at least get a full day off to yourself to catch up on sleep, do laundry, or just to chill?
So to answer your question every ship is different I’ve been on two ships so far and my schedule has always been from 0600-170 (6am to 5pm) you don’t really get any days off unless you have a really good crew and they let you off while your in port also every Sunday we get off at around 3pm to do some “cleaning in our rooms”
But my schedule ranges from Monday-sat 0600 to 1700 then Sunday 0600 to 1500 In between we have 2 breaks one at 10:00-10:30 and then another one at 1500-15:30 we also have our meal breaks Breakfast 7:10-0800 Lunch 11:40-1300 Dinner 1640 (we usually knock off by then)
Being a woman in this field never really stopped me I like to stay to myself and keep thing practical I don’t talk about race religion or politics because those are some very sensitive subjects for ppl on ships but I’ll do a video going more in-depth about my whole experience
