I got rid of my Street Triple 660s/dream bike after not even 2 weeks. I will not go into any farther detail nor respond to comments on this specific comment/subject. Whatever bike you ride, ride safe and thanks for watching.
So true on the trident, i'm seeing more and more reviewers comment on the laggy throttle being an issue. The Street Triple(I had the Street Triple 675 R version) is a really well spec'd and sorted motorcycle, and is just a better motorcycle than the Trident is.
That’s a risk you have to choose for yourself, it was the dream bike and I still miss it, planned to keep it till the day it broke down, just that that would be 10+ years😅. But the average person is double free and every one loves them. I’d just say to make SURE you trust your dealer before you buy it. but I’m very happy with my Yamaha now.

Trident’s engine is better tuned and has all new parts in it. The S you have is discontinued for a reason- it’s old and slow with shit brakes. Yamaha MT-07/09 will wipe both the S you have, the Trident and the STR. Out of all the Triumphs, I’d choose the Trident because it’s all new, in demand and impossible to find, insurance is dirt cheap and the msrp is lower than any STR. However, the throttle is horrid. Thus I’d pick the Yamaha.
