My Father and Mother Joseph and Jeannie Simms went to college with Booker, all good friends.....might be why I , at age 61 still drink Jim Beam and Bookers finest till this day..... My Father came from Springfield, Ky.- USMC (Iwo Jima,) then college at the U of K.
All there products are high quality even the low end bottles. Many don’t care for the Basil Hayden’s but it’s still a great pour to some. It’s all due to the passion you can see just coming from his comments!
I wonder what ole Booker would think about his family legacy no longer being owned by his family or even being American anymore. JB is now owned by a Japanese company.
He is rolling over in his grave for sure. I wonder how much control over the situation Fred had. Not sure if he was happy to take a nice piece of that 16 billion, or it was not completely his choice. It is just a horrible shame...
He was the majority share holder and as a family member of the founder I think he also had a veto power. In an interview he claimed that "If this deal doesn't benefit the company then I will turn it around" So either he was talking tough or he had the ability to stop it. Either way I stopped drinking Beam now it is Bulliet Bourbon Still American as far as I know.
I never liked Fred, he always seemed like a drunk asshole. I just bought a bottle of Bookers form the liquor store I work at. I think I am going to look into more of the Heaven Hill stuff, the new Elijah Craig barrel proof was amazing. Thanks for the info man. We all know he ant turning around billions of dollars hahah! Belliet is quite a bourbon too.
I'm still not over that. I know that money makes the world go round, but why take something with such a rich American heritage and send the ownership over seas?
To bad that these american companies sell out. I'm sure booker would not have approved of it. From what i know of him he really loved making it. But hey, he's gone now and it's not my company, and i don't really care for most of the stuff they make.
How the video/tape ends brought back alot of memories..the fading out and static part. Amazing history to watch here!
I had a really old Bookers once it was incredible ....
Great tour! Very interesting !
Cheers Booker!
