    From a Christian perspective, it's ridiculous to call Buddha a fraud. He never claimed to be a God or Prophet, he was just a wise man who taught a lot of the same stuff as Jesus. Early Church Fathers recognized and respected the teachings of non-Christians as the "wisdoms of the world". They recognized that we can and should learn from wise teachers outside of our own traditions, the wisdoms of the world can be understood as important to more fully understanding our world and our faith. This respect for the "wisdoms of the world" in a Christian framework was in large part responsible for the Renaissance and the flourishing of a culture which sought out wisdom and knowledge in both secular and religious life. They didn't reject Plato or the important Islamic philosophers of the time as frauds, they learned from the wisdoms of the world.

    • @kaykeunil
      @kaykeunil 2 ปีที่แล้ว +220

      Oh my god yes I was internally screaming when he called Buddha a fraud, like have you ever even researched one of his teachings? Because Buddha literally is not a god. He’s definitely a sorta mythical-ish figure, but he’s no more god then I am. Plus I’m pretty sure that Buddhism’s general rules to live by can be practiced by people of other denominations? As in I think that you can technically be Christian and Buddhist because they don’t conflict actually, since Buddhism doesn’t focus on gods at all and this doesn’t break the rule that Christians must have only one god. My old catholic high school religion teacher said that we had to learn about Buddhism because it helped us be better Catholics, and she was as bigoted and homophobic as they come so what is this Bignik guy doing

    • @gremlinwc8996
      @gremlinwc8996 2 ปีที่แล้ว +61

      Yeah I was thinking that but I wasn't sure. I'm a humanistic jew so I don't know too much about Buddhism but I thought that the Buddha wasn't really a god or a spiritual figure like that, and I asked my mom who's both Jewish and Buddhist and she essentially told me the same thing.

      Protestant Christianity (and Catholicism too to a sometimes lesser extent) has become remarkably anti intelectual. Islam obviously has a rich tradition of intellectualism and Catholics still can be often be very scholarly in their approach to things. I saw a sticker on a car in Florida that said "if Jesus had a gun he'd be alive today" so I think it's safe to say that most modern Christians practice a great deal of cognitive dissonance about their lord and savior rather than understand it.

    • @Guineapigsreadingbooks
      @Guineapigsreadingbooks ปีที่แล้ว +57

      Wow. They really failed to grasp the most basic parts of the Easter story. Christianity teaches that he is still alive, in Christians who love others, and in heaven. He ducking rose from the dead. That is the reason we celebrate Easter as a Christian holiday. That is the whole point. And if you spend even a few minutes reading the chapter before the crucifixion, you can see that Jesus was willing to die. He told his followers *not* to defend him violently.
      Also, without the crucifixion, Christian tradition teaches that our salvation would be a lot harder. He needed to die, and then, as commemorated every year at Easter, and with every cross as a Christian symbol, rise from the dead. Part of the confession that is a part of most Christian traditions is also confessing that he is still living, and we want to be in communion with him. Communion is about commemorating the willing sacrifice he made, and the miracle of his resurrection that gives the world hope.
      I am sorry for the ramble, I am just sick of this sort of stuff.

    • @sholem_bond
      @sholem_bond 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, Jesus, who allegedly had the literal power of God and Heaven behind him, would have been able to avoid crucifixion if only he'd had a *gun.* Sure.
      (Also, according to Christian theology, the crucifixion not only had to happen, but was pretty important for the whole "sacrificing himself to cleanse humanity's sins" thing. Also, he supposedly resurrected after three days, meaning he IS alive... what the fuck are y'all American Protestants doing over there/here?)

    This isn’t unique to Nik but the way that Christian online influencers constantly promoting themselves through worship and treating themselves as these big heros who are saving peoples souls seem to go against a lot of tenets of Christianity. I was raised Christian and like the biggest things we learn is no idol worship (and if you are making yourself into an online idol…) and to not pray in public. Like. I know that different denominations do things differently but since he likes to talk about the bible so much you’d think he would have learned the basics

    • @Nothingseen
      @Nothingseen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's very few things less Christian than the modern evangelical Christian movement. You can find literal false prophets, people who say that if you donate money to the church you will find financial success on your own, people who embrace a materialistic lifestyle of private jets and manors, and pastors who have fundamental misunderstandings of the whole *thing,* like saying that Satan was behind Jesus' death on the cross.
      There's also few things less stupid, which is a real shame. Christianity has literal centuries of scholarship around it, yet it's loudest adherents are deeply reactionary and anti-intellectual.

In the video he was complaining about he should be number 1 on the charts based on record sales but because he was selling CDs or something like that the charts wouldn’t list him. There was also something about a third party company that he had needed to use involving getting ranked. But I kinda stopped caring because of his whining and big music narrative. I also highly doubt he was as high up in the charts as he thought he was. Interesting how I found maybe one or two comments being reasonable while all the others were ass kissing and going on about how it was so important for him to expose big music like this. Now that I think of it, I didn’t even get halfway through the video. Imagine what else he was spouting off about how great he is (probably including tour dates, listen to his stuff because he doesn’t put his music on streaming sites, etc) and how evil big music is

I feel people use our religion as a shield to hide behind while they spread hate. Further on the “Allah” thing: Islam itself is an Abrahamic faith, believing in the Abrahamic god. You know what other religions believe in the Abrahamic god? Judaism, Catholicism, _CHRISTIANITY._ Same god, different prophets, different takes on similar texts.
    It’s like saying the Hellenistic gods are completely different from the Grecian gods, when they’re quite literally the same gods. Just adopted by varying cultures.

      Allah is not even a name. Its just word for God in Arabic. Just like in Urdu word for God is Khuda or ilahi. In Hindi Bhagwan. Same in Arabic word for God is Allah. Their are Arab Christians and Jews who say Allah. Because Their language is not English but Arabic.

    Good time for a reminder that 1 and 2 Timothy, the books that talk about 'submit to your husband' and whatnot, are considered by most modern scholars to be 'pseudo-pauline,' meaning they were not actually written by Paul. They were written by someone decades later who thought adding Paul's name to their beliefs would add some credibility that it didn't have on its own. There's pretty good evidence in the real epistles that Paul respected women as equals in the ministry and opposed marriage as a system altogether.
    So like if Big Nik was a real Christian who cared about theology and Christian history he wouldn't be blasting all this pseudo-historic reactionary nonsense. I just wanted to give a Christian perspective on why what Nik is saying is not just hateful but also theologically bunk.

Obsession with the End Times, finding "clues" in TV shows, conspiracies, fear of "hidden satanists", etc sounds a lot like the sort of thing I was into when my mental health took a nosedive circa 2018/2020. The tragic thing about people who fall into that sort of thing is that those thought processes lead them to believe therapists and medications are evil and everyone is out to get them, so they very rarely get help in time. Combine that with being online and everything that it brings to make a bad situation much worse.

The only reason there are 3 different religions is because they believe in different prophets that was talked about in the religious text. 16:39 I'm fairly certain that when Bignik says " I Wish somebody would" he doesn't literally want someone to silence him he's saying that if someone tried to take away his freedom of speech that would make him mad so he's provoking someone to try and do that so he can make an example out of them. I probably didn't explain it well but the phrase "I wish somebody would" or "I wish you would" is similar to "Do It and see what happens" you're essentially daring someone to do something that would make you angry.

A lot of leftist TH-camrs in particular seem to be giants too. It is unsurprising to me that you are apparently tall because you are a TH-camr. If you constantly worry about ''sinning'' your'e gonna have a bad time. Wer'e all flawed beings. But that doesn't make us ''evil''. It just makes us all human. This silly notion that what have to constantly watch every little action we do is ridiculous.We'd never do a thing if we thought about it all of the time. • @jasminv8653

      A lot of 'Christian' features of American sects of Christianity are imo moreso 'American' features of Christianity. A lot of the churches in the US have a protestant base, Calvinist, Presbyterian, Quaker or Pentecostal churches in particular, and Protestantism highlights the grace of god over the penitent actions of the sinner comoared to Catholicism, but even those denominations are very different in other parts of the world than US. It's always wild to try and understand American 'Christianity' from outside looking in - in my country most are Lutheran and Eastern Orthodox christians + Lutheran sub-movements, so both protestant and mystic types, but NOTHING like the strange transactionality of US worship or the idea of rapture and end days apart from VERY fringe movements.
