I would love to have a long conversation with you about Dave Chappelle's monologue because I don't see how you got that he was calling Kayne brave.
Are you old enough to have watched the Chapelle show back in the early 2000s? This is an honest question. I would guess you're in your 20s, so I would assume no, but maybe not? The reason I ask this is to know whether you knew what the climate was like back then. It was different than now, so Chapelle show would come across completely different to a young person now compared to then.

Awesome video! on the topic of "holocaustisization", Godwin's Law was coined in the 90s to describe exactly this. It's been around since the birth of the internet, and Godwin coined the term to try to get people to, as you say, actually think about the holocaust (before he joined tiktok he was incredibly based). However, he doesnt explore the reason why it happens, a reason i would argue is simple; the need for a universal undeniable "ethically bad thing".
If I make a comparison to Thatcher, it could fail because my opponent actually loves her. If my opponent makes a comparison to Communism, it could fail if I loved the CCCP (I don't, but those teens are out there). So we need a comparison that everyone agrees is bad (and if they dont they lose the argument by default): enter the one of the largest atrocities of the last Century. If there were another universal bad thing on the internet Godwin's Law wouldnt exist to the extent that it does.
Bu an obvious side-effect of this is that people become desensitised to one of the worst events of the 20th Century. another is that you're also directly equating you opponent with the nazis. It's far more trouble than its worth, but since people dont have anything else (and wont ever get into a debate about ethics on the internet), its not going to change. and all of these issues come together in Gina Corano's tweet.
TL;DR : holocaustisiafdtion = Godwin's Law, coined in 1990. actually happens because any other comparison you make on the internet will fall flat. Is incredibly flawed and is a factor in our current desensitisation to the Holocaust.

@stacin821 Hey, I remember watching The Chappelle Show. One of the bits literally pops in my head every day or so.
I don't know how relevant his old show or old jokes are to the current conversation around Dave Chappelle. Even completely outside of anything that might be considered a joke or a bit or coming from some comedy persona instead of his true feelings, he fought to keep affordable housing out of his neighborhood. I don't think he was fighting multifamily housing sarcastically. He's lost whatever relatiblity he ever had.
Since he can't fall back on that for his material, he's resorted to promoting and hyping up bigots for some reason.

As a German, it really annoys me if people do weird comparisons with the Holocaust... It always feel like they don't take it seriously and people are relativizing what had happened. You can't compare a bunch of people getting mad at you because of something you said to the monstrosities that happend during WWII. In my country, it's mandatory in school to visit a concentration camp, and I've seen many people throwing up for just being there. There are no words to describe how it feels to actually visit a camp by yourself where so many innocent people lost their lives and got tortured. I wish more people from the US would travel abroad and take that tour too. Maybe it would widen their horizon, so they can understand it better and.. maybe they would get some respect for the victims too...

The thought that I could've avoided supporting this person if I only knew about his actions and views earlier sickens me, because it tells me that large media outlets have an interest in keeping celebrities' racism in the shadows. Don't kick my dog and then throw a tantrum about freedom when I get mad at you for it! Really this is something we discussed centuries ago: just like it happens when you live with somebody, living in a community means giving up SOME freedom for some safety, it means that no you cannot go kill your neighbor's family and steal their goat, but instead of fighting for that goat to see who lives another day, you can establish rules to live together and work together to not get eaten by a wolf. A healthy society is meant to have a balance between that freedom and that safety, and imo (and this I think is a popular opinion) those social norms should be based on empathy, equality and the happiness of the community as a whole (and noo, this doesn't mean EVERYONE has to be happy, it means we have to TRY to give everyone a chance at living a decent life). No, it's not a secret scheme made by THE JEWSSSS, it's JUST being a good person.

And yes, not supporting trans kids transitioning is transphobic, just as not supporting gay kids dating one-another is homophobic.
Social transition is the first part of any serious transition, and is the only thing a pre-pubesant kid does.
After that is puberty blockers, which while ofc got side effects, most that people claim as risks are either those of HRT, and/or from conditions that cis kids taking them have.
At the same time, some may do top surgery. Cis teens do them more than trans teens, and neither group reportedly fare worse from getting them than not.
Then we got HRT, which usually is around 18 years old, so they can go through the puberty more fitting them.
And after that, as they are over 18 or very rarely just under and have gone through lots of legal and medical hoops, they can do a bottom surgery.
And mark of these, a trans person might only do the social transition and happy with it. They might do all the rest, none of the others, or just one of them.
I will ask you; If you are so worried about teens being hurt and think that's what those people worry about, do you and them talk against things like High School Sports teams, like American Football teams?
There, teens get horribly hurt for life, get no payment, and might lose their chances on future sport dreams while making rich people richer.
Since if you and they only complain about causes which are proven in data to help the life quality of the vast majority within one group of minors , but don't complain when nearly half of another group of minors get exploited for profit and get severely hurt, then your focus clearly isn't the well being of minors.

@Jack 'o' Flames 1. 2. you see he is just called transphobic by people who haven't even seen what he said that got him called transphobic and it's just kinda accepted by lots of people.
      3. I'm going to be honestly I belive medical transitioning and hormones kinda go against what being Trans is. If you accept that gender is just a human concept and that gender roles and all that's other crap are just bs then what's the point of transitioning? Why should we support people who have a unhealthy image of themselves in getting massive invasive surgery and taking body altering hormones. If a girl wants breast implants to look more feminine and threatens to kill herself if she doesn't get that gender affirming care would you get her breast implants or would you get her help? We should be teaching kids to accept their own bodies and to not hate their own bodies. We shouldn't push that because a kid is out of the norm for their sex that they should change their gender. Also your misinformed if you think hormone treatment and puberty blockers are temporary and have no longterm effects.

Imagine being in a space where everybody is welcome you with open arms, accepting you, celebrating you, telling you how brave and right and smart and good you are… it sounds pretty nice when you think about it like that!
Same reason criminal gangs target kids with difficult home lives: “oh you’re looking for a family? Come over here we got you!” Meanwhile they know that kid is gonna end up dead or in prison.
None of these right-wing bobble-heads care what happens to Kanye. They’ll use him for their agenda then throw him away. He’s an adult though. He may be in a vulnerable space but he’s not a lil kid, he has the ability to think critically and he’s chosen to stop doing that in return for unconditional validation.

Part of Kanye's turn into a Trump supporter was his nature as a contrarian, but he also felt very identifyed with Trump because they're both narcissistic billionaries. Is true that Kanye has genuine talent while Trump is one of those "famous because they're famous" celebrities (most of his business endeavors have failed), but that doesn't matter because Kanye told it exactly like it is: the privilegied 1% are his people now. In Spain there's a saying that goes "the man who is not a Leftist when he's young is an idiot. The man who's still a Leftist once he's old, is also an idiot" I know in English they say something similar, but I preffer the Spanish version because it highlights how a lot of the Right Wing ideology is just about keeping the power for themselves no matter how unfair and inmoral it is, and Kanye West exemplifyes this perfectly.

Also, Spaniard millenials are split between the traditional right and the new leftist parties that see the P.O.S.E. as too entangled with the status quo to actually move society forwards in a progressive direction, abd the Spaniard alt-right is only popular among Gen-Xers (wich makes sense, for what I've seen in the internet, the Spaniards who were born in the 70s and 80s are a rather cynical and bitter bunch)

Hearing a lot of YT ad reads that target shaving as a manly product and whatnot, hearing a lot of products that gender shaving, and knowing a lot of people in the trans community (myself included) who are often excluded in super binary, shaving ad reads, it was incredibly refreshing to just have shaving advertised to the broad public. Thank you so much; I've watched several of your videos I've enjoyed and that gave me that final push to hit subscribe instantly. Thank you! @@starlight8554 you're missing the point entirely. The thing he was "cancelled" for in the first place was sharing racist thoughts he'd had like 20 years ago *in the context of explicitly denouncing that way of thinking*, so even if he didn't suffer all that much the message it sends is still "don't publicly own up to your past mistakes because you'll just be punished for it." So if that's the lesson public figures take away from cases like this (admittedly the Al Franken one is a better example), it shouldn't be that surprising for "cancelled" public figures to double down on whatever their issue was instead of admitting fault.

It's basically just a group of people pushing back against something stupid you say/do. It's usually in bad faith though and so it's often online harassment. Cancel culture can be people legitimately concerned/upset about something offensive, "like comparing your situation to being a Jew in Nazi Germany", but it can also just as easily be an excuse to harrass someone you don't like, then you can pat yourself on the back and the end of the day and tell yourself your harrassment was really you doing a good deed and the person deserved it.
It's like the modern version of a medieval public execution. Everyone gathers in the town square to watch some rich idiot get their head cut off and it's like a celebration for the peasants to watch "this idiot get what they deserve".

@@BooksRebound it would be like that, if all these people getting "canceled" actualy lost their means of income. Last I checked, Kevin Spacey isn't living out of a box begging for change, Dave Chapelle just hosted SNL, and JK Rowling is still obscenely rich.
What actually happens is, someone with a golden parachute and ten thousand safety nets gets publicly humiliated, complains about getting "canceled" and then 90% of people are completely out of the loop and keep giving them money anyway. And that's before you account for the people who are in the loop but think the person getting "canceled" did a good thing.

@@FabbrizioPlays exactly. The whole thing that's stupid is nobody can cancel you, because you're not a TV show. Canceling is just public outcry or humiliation but it's not effective, plus it should only be reserved for like rapists, extreme bigots and shit imo, not just everyday people with "bad opinions".
The fact that nowadays it's so diluted that people get canceled over a very tame opinion they had on a movie is so fucking stupid. Like when Lindsay Ellis tweeted Raya and the Last Dragon was kinda like Avatar The Last Airbender and all of a sudden now Lindsay is a racist who thinks all East Asian things are the same and she needs a reality check. Then they go and dig up every slightly bad thing she's ever done in the last 12yrs to prove she really is a bad person.
      It's so stupid.

@@FabbrizioPlays using the absolute wealthiest most prominent examples of people who got "cancelled" as a justification for it not actually having an impact on people's lives is ridiculous. There have been multiple cases where people suffer very real consequences like high school kids getting rejected from colleges or losing scholarships because someone dug up an old snapchat of them rapping along to a song with the n-word it years ago, they just don't stick around in the public consciousness because they didn't start out as huge public figures before being "canceled."

"cancel culture" is when people get mad at you on the website twitter and it doesn't really affect you

I haven’t even watched the video yet but I have to comment because the way this woman says Ricky Gervais (at 0:29) is Sending Me, but I’m sure this’ll be another good one!

You’re doing good work with these man. The incoming Gen of users and creators need to be conscious of these patterns beyond what the tv tells them to think about “just having an opinion”
