    Regarding all current rewrites and the Motobug series:
    I will not be continuing those series on TH-cam. I'm tired of making videos like that, but I don't want to abandon them. I'll be writing up the rest of their plots and posting them somewhere when i'm ready to do so, and i'll make another announcement when they're posted so you can find them. I hope you understand and continue to enjoy what I post here in the future since I see my main content as just as creative as those stories, except I'm enjoying things more now.

    2:45, No the biggest thing standing between us and this game is Sonic Team and/or Sega's "One and done" strategy. Since Sonic R had bad sales, Sonic Team thinks that the concept was what doomed the game, not the execution. I wouldn't be surprised if the 3D boost formula doesn't come back after Forces.

      In general, I think it's more poor reception than poor sales, but I could see the latter applying to Sonic R, as reviews were originally average at worst and pretty good at best, but apparently sold poorly, probably because it was released on a dying console that failed outside of Japan, and not really because of its quality. It wasn't until it was ported to the GameCube and PS2 via Sonic Gems Collection that it gained more negative reviews. Those subsequent reviews probably didn't help matters, since if the initially poor sales weren't enough to make Sega think that the concept was bad, the new wave of backlash it got certainly did.

    Idea: Use boosts for character types;
    Speed Type: The regular, Generations type.
    Fly Type: Boosting pushes you upward, but isn't as fast as Speed.
    Power: No Speed Increase, but has gliding abilities and auto-recharging.

      How about something like this? Nobody has Generations style boost, but...
      Sprint Type: They can perform mini-boosts a-la Sonic Riders or Sonic Unwiished. Each boost costs something like rings rather than just having a boost bar. Well managed, they can be boosting a great deal during a race but without proper care and management, they'll be stuck near the back without any real answers to the competition. Ideal characters would be Sonic, Shadow, Eggman and Zavok.
      Acrobatic Type: They don't have a standard boost, but stringing together platforming combos gives them a steady buildup of their innate abilities over time. Faster movement, better air control, more snappy or longer lasting techniques that can all feed into each other. Think the kind of momentum feedback loop you'd find in Mirror's Edge or a skate/snowboarding game, but with a presentation more along the lines of the Fever gauge from Sonic Rush. They can easily outstrip everyone else by just being better, but breaking the chain of momentum they have going or not being able to build it up in the first place would leave them with below-average stats and not that much else. Ideal characters would be Tails, Amy, Blaze and Rouge.
      Brawler Type: Again, no boost, but their default moves are buffed up. Quick-Step becomes a shoulder tackle, Slide Kicks have bigger AOE, Stomp attacks can cause tripping, stuff like that. Every time they hit someone or something using these techniques, they gain a mini-turbo. The more things they hit within a span of time, the bigger the mini-turbo gets with them eventually being able to develop a sort-of boost aura that they can use to simply plow through enemies and objects at speed. It would be easy for them to reach the front by staying in the fray but once they get there, they'd have to work harder to maintain that lead. Ideal characters would be Knuckles, Werehog, Vector and Zomom(if he shows up.)

      not sure how the core gameplay will work (i.e., things such as accelerating, how the characters will handle, etc.)
      however, it mostly inspired by sonic r & riders
      all characters run on-foot with a couple exceptions
      but i do i want it to feel like a typical Sonic game, but with the twist that it's a racing game
      most of the focus is on making a fast-paced, and chaotic game (i'm only ideacrafting, i'm not an actual programmer or anything, i just like writing ideas and adding more thought to them as i reread them)
      characters can perform tricks similar to the sonic adventure games, and sonic rush
      doing trick combos can be achieved by performing consecutive tricks within a fast timeframe*
      the more or better tricks you do, the higher your combo score will be
      taking a hit from obstacles or losing too much speed will kill your combo
      the maps will have multiple routes made to accommodate different character types, though not all maps follow this rule, as some maps will be better suited for certain types
      in addition to types differentiating the characters, each character will have their own individual moveset and attributes (i.e.,
      most characters have 1 or 2 "free" actions they can perform at any time, such as Sonic being able to Super Peel Out, or Knuckles being able to punch
      some attacks can be used without slowing you down, but others will, and others require to stop in place to be used
      each character has several "combo" actions, which are moves they can perform at any time, but only after achieving a high enough combo score (a combo score is achieved by...*)
      each time a combo action is used, your combo score lowers
      there may or may not also be items, like monitors and wisps and shit scattered across the maps, but i'm not sure
      i've also decided on making a random couple fun to include bonus modes:
      Balloons
      Tag
      Survival
      Rivals
      Chaotix
      i want to know what people think, and am open to criticism
      any map suggestions or characters would be appreciated
      these are the types i've thought of and their abilities
      each character can be either one type, or two types (i.e., Sonic is Speed, Tails is Flying-Technique)
      *iffy ideas that may be subject to change
      Speed:
      Speed characters can run and trick faster than other types
      Their speed and momentum allows them to have a much better flow when running through stages at full speed, compared to other types
      -As an example, imagine Sonic is running down a slope, into a loop-de-loop
      -His immense speed and momentum would propel him further than other types
      -Another example would be a vine, which swings when you grab it (kinda like the Prison Island jungle level in SA2)
      -Sonic is running very fast, and grabs the vine, causing it to swing around very quickly
      Speed types become tighter to control as they enter higher speeds
      Speed types can leap wall-to-wall, though the walls must be within a decent range from one another, the timing is fairly strict; this is only possible when moving very fast
      Speed characters can slip through narrow passages by curling into a ball & rolling
      When running at high speeds, Speed types can run straight up walls, but only if they manage their speed and momentum
      Power:
      Power characters generally have less combo actions than other types, and those who do must achieve very high combo scores to utilize
      To make up for this, Power types have a much higher variety of free actions than other types
      Power types can string their free actions together to unleash brawl combos
      Power types take less damage from other Power types, as well as other obstacles & attacks in general
      -As opposed to being hit and getting stunned, Power characters tank a certain number of hits before getting stunned; this number depends on the character's durability and the attack they're being hit with
      If 2 Power characters strike each other while moving at high speeds, they will receive a sudden and dramatic attack and speed increase
      -While engaged in combat, they can perform any move in their kit without stopping or slowing down
      Power types can block, but must stand in place to do so
      -Blocking allows them to essentially tanks any hits you would've taken
      Power characters can demolish large objects other types can't
      They are not slowed down by carrying heavy objects, and can throw them just as easily as smaller ones
      Can interact with certain elements of the stage
      -Knuckles can pull a chain to lift a giant gate, granting him a shortcut
      -Knuckles can punch the wall in certain locations to cause a rockslide
      -They can demolish parts of the stage, making it harder for others to traverse, or outright block certain routes
      Flying:
      Flying types can obviously, fly
      -They can remain airborne as long as they want
      -However, if they fly too high or for too long, a meter will appear
      -This meter will gradually decrease, and will decrease more as you increase your speed
      -This meter can be increased by performing Air Tricks; Air Tricks can only be performed in the air at high speed
      -When the meter is depleted, your character will have about a 4 second leeway before they suddenly drop; depending on how long you're falling, you may have time to readjust and catch yourself to fly again before you hit the ground
      When flying fast enough, your character will Soar, at which point, you must keep them steady, while timing your button presses and control sticks to keep them airborne
      -Different characters will fly differently, and thus, control differently when Soaring (i.e., Tails requires you to spin the control sticks more, plus flies more straight, whereas Cream, requires you to rhythmically lift and lower the control sticks, plus she bobs and weaves up and down as she flies, but stays higher in the air longer than Tails does)
      When jumping, they stop in midair
      Flying types generally have a lot of combo actions
      Technique:
      Technique types have a different, more complex tricking system (needs work)
      Tech types are more agile (can dodge attacks, specifically projectiles, easier than other types)
      -Newer ideas, needs work
      Tech types can interact with technology, objects and parts of the stage
      -Their ability to do so depends on their level of Knowledge
      -Each Tech character starts at a certain level, and can be raised by achieving certain tasks
      -These tasks depend on the map, and you must decide if they are worth going out of your way for, to gain a potential advantage
      Knowledge Level 1 - Inquisitor
      -Character can interact with certain objects and parts of the stage, but only after interacting with Knowledge Receptacles, objects containing Knowledge
      Knowledge Level 2 - Scholar
      -Character can interact with certain objects and parts of the stage
      Knowledge Level 3 - Craftsman
      -Level 2, +can interact with parts
      Knowledge Level 4 - Specialist
      -Level 3, +can build, and can create antitech
      Knowledge Level 5 - Architect
      -Level 4, +does everything faster, and can build with much less resources
      Tech types have an inventory to store items they come across
      -Most Tech types start with 1 or 2 items which must be equipped for their free action to be used
      Certain areas can only be entered by Tech characters
      Most, but not all Tech characters have the ability to hide or camouflage themselves in some way
      Machine:
      Not entirely sure what will make this type unique
      The only Machine character moveset I've come up with so far is Omega, and he has a very uniqiue moveset and playstyle, but that's more so because he's a Power character, and every character is unique to some extent
      Special:
      Special types have unique mechanics which do not fit any other type
      (i.e., Blaze is invulnerable to flames and can manipulate them in various ways)
      (i.e., Silver can use his psychic powers for a variety of purposes, such as opening shortcuts, bending a girder to act as a ramp to trick off of, creating psychic energy bridges to cross gaps, etc.)
      (i.e., Shadow's Chaos abilities)
      and that is all
      here's my roster
      when determining characters, i pick a character based on A., how fast they are and how natural they would fit in a fast-paced racing game, and B., how much source material they have to work with
      i wanted to include tikal or sally, but they didn't have enough stuff from their games/comics/shows to give them more than a couple ideas for their moveset
      since i want each character to be a viable option and i want the player to be able to freely pick anyone they want
      Speed: Sonic, Blaze, Silver, Shadow, Metal Sonic, Espio, Jet, Super Sonic, Hyper Sonic
      Power: Knuckles, Amy, Omega, Vector, Honey, Storm, Metal Knuckles, Super Knuckles, Hyper Knuckles, Excalibur Sonic
      Flight: Tails, Tornado, Cream, Rouge, Eggman, Charmy, Wave, Tails Doll, Super Tails, Nights
      Tech: Tails, Eggman, Rouge, Espio, Shade, Imperator Ix, Wave, Gamma, Gemerl
      Machine: Tornado, Omega, Metal Sonic, Tails Doll, Mecha Sonic, Gamma, Metal Knuckles, Emerl, Gemerl
      Special: Blaze, Silver, Shadow, Black Doom, Chaos, Darkspine Sonic
      Nature: Sticks, Super Sonic, Super Tails, Super Knuckles, Super Shadow, Super Silver, Burning Blaze, Hyper Sonic, Hyper Knuckles
      Custom: Avatar, Chao, Emerl
      other characters i want to include for fun are Shadow on his motorcycle, Eggman on foot, Big the Cat in various vehicles, and the Knights of the Round Table versions of Knuckles, Shadow, Blaze, Silver & Jet

      How about double types? Characters who have more than 1 type. Silver could be both a flying and Speed type. Rouge could be both a flying and power type.

    *My half-answer to QOTD:*
    In terms of how the characters' movesets are handled, a class-based deal would fit well. Think TF2 but in a Sonic-esque racing setting.
    I remember trying to make each character's moveset unique, but a lot of the cast have very similar powers and trying to stretch the idea bank thin with slightly unique movesets for each one a la Overwatch just really wasn't my thing.
    Keep in mind these movesets are more based on the Adventure games, with the Spin Dash instead of the Boost and only using two buttons.
    So there are *11* classes:
    - *Speedster* (Sonic/Shadow): The fastest one in the game by far. Can perform moves like the Jump Dash (A + A), Drop Dash (A + B) and Lightspeed Dash (B when behind trail of rings). Gee, along with the Spin Dash, that's a lot of dashes, huh?
    - *Pilot* (Tails/Cream): Recommended for beginners, with their excellent turning and slower speeds. Pressing and holding A in midair allows them to fly, losing stamina during flight.
    - *Hunter* (Knuckles/Rouge): A slightly heavier class with noticeably lower acceleration. They can glide fairly far distances and climb walls. I remember Project Hero having that cool Wall Dash move, so yea, why not put that in as well?
    - *Paladin* (Amy Rose): One of the more unique classes... The character holds a fairly big weapon, which while very handy for maneuvering around, doesn't let you perform the Spin Dash. Instead, the B button is used for swinging your hammer forward, which launches you into a long jump while running, just like Amy in SA1. Mashing A in mid-air allows you to glide and pressing B in mid-air performs a powerful slam.
    - *Hover* (Silver/Blaze): A class that feels very light and floaty to control, like you're gliding across the ground. Pressing A in mid-air allows you to levitate at the same altitude you pressed the button, and their air-B allows them to Spin Dash on mid-air! Probably a very broken class, if I'm being honest.
    - *Diver* (Vector/Big): The tankiest class in the game, which is all made up for with their fantastic swimming skills. Pressing B performs a Head Slide, which compared to a roll, is much more resistant to uphill surfaces, yet also doesn't build as much momentum. They have the ability to swim up and down when underwater. Kinda like Knuckles and Rouge in SA2, but feels more like a dolphin, which gives the player some very sweet airtime.
    - *Ninja* (Espio): Another very eccentric playstyle. A + A allows you to Double Jump, while also stick to walls and perform Espio's version of the Triangle Jump from Sonic Heroes. Holding the B button performs the Chroma Twirl, a whirlwind attack which feels kinda like the Dark Matter Spin from Crash 4 (weird example, I know lol). Building up a fuckton of momentum using the Twirl turns the player translucent and invincible - they go back to a visible, vulnerable state upon losing enough speed.
    - *Drone* (Charmy): Plays exactly like a 3D version of Charmy from Knuckles' Chaotix. Pressing A makes you dash upward, while pressing B makes you dash forward. Using any of these moves depletes stamina, so use these broken-ass moves wisely.
    - *Rocket* (Omega/Eggman): Could rival the Diver class in tankiness. Basically plays exactly like Gamma in SA1 and Tails/Eggman in SA2, but with an ultra-powerful speed boost replacing the pew-pew-pew.
    - *Bounder* (Mighty/Fang): They're so bouncy! Can perform the Wall Jump by pressing A near a wall, and the Bound Jump by pressing B in mid-air.
    - *Glider* (Ray): The all-rounder class, in terms of control, for whatever reason. A and B mid-air are relegated entirely to one move, Ray's Air Glide from Sonic Mania Plus, letting the player glide up and down respectively.
    More classes could be added in later on, to fit other characters with their own unique abilities that don't fit either of these I've listed.
    I have the feeling players would have a fair amount of fun maining certain characters and getting the hang of their playstyles, it would definitely differentiate it from the other popular racing games out there, like Mario Kart and CTR.

    Great ideas first off.
    Second, for the campaign you can also include boss fights that function like they do in the regular series but now anyone can join in on them because of the plot you made of them all being pretty fast. Plus you already included a good amount of possible candidates. Chaos 0 is just begging to be the boss of a water area, Shadow would be fun as a rival battle, Metal Sonic seems pretty keen on revenge, and why not make the Zeti that are in the game and Infinite useful because god knows nobody else will!
    A perfect first boss would probably be either Chaos 0 or I can see the Babylon Rogues in that slot too since Jet’s impulsive nature tends to make all of them take the fall with him.
    You can also have character specific interactions in the game. Nothing major just a few lines here and there during the campaign or even a specific feature dedicated to it in the menu if you wanted to dedicate more time to it. It’s not like characters like these are ever gonna be near each other again so might as well. You can even include references to the comic since Tangle and Whisper are there (thank you).

    they could have this happen, or they could add online multiplayer to the next boost game, so we could race through the stages that we play during the story, with some wisps that can hinder your opponent (like eagle, or frenzy) or help you get to alternate paths or short cuts (like rocket, hover, and drill). And a hub world to chill in during match making would be dope. You'd walk to your destination weather it'd be casual races (with wisps) or ranked/competitive races (no wisps). There would also be a shop in this hub world, where you can buy skins/cosmetics for your characters using rings, but there would be some rare items that you can only get with a special currency that you will get by winning ranked matches (or buying microtransactions). This would be my ideal sonic racing experience. Thank you for coming to my TED talk lol.

      I love Sonic's reaction to Tails being captured, (total "Big Brother Instinct" mode for sure), and I love Shadow's supposed aloof behaviour but in reality he's just as concerned for Tails' safety as the others. That's just perfect.

    Here's my idea for how the characters play, they each have their own strengths and weaknesses based on their stats, let's say they have 5 categories and 15 points each split between these 5 categories.
    Let's also say maybe give them an extra special ability unique to them to give some variety as well as also throwing in a gauge that, when filled up, allows characters to use a special power to help them get ahead or to slow down opponents in a way similar to the Sonic Adventure 2 Sonic vs Shadow races but also give them a unique passive technique that is exclusive to them.
    Here are a few examples.
    Sonic the Hedgehog
    Top Speed - 5/5
    Acceleration - 4/5
    Jump Height - 2/5
    Handling - 3/5
    Power - 1/5
    Passive Ability - Light Speed Dash: Allows Sonic to use ring trails to get to a certain area.
    Special Technique - Sonic Boost: Sonic stops holding back (let's say that's the in-game reason similar to what he doesn't just automatically win every race at the Olympics in the Mario & Sonic series) and temporarily becomes much faster than before but he also becomes slightly harder to control due to this intense speed boost. It lasts only 15-20 seconds upon activation.
    Miles "Tails" Prower
    Top Speed - 3/5
    Acceleration - 2/5
    Jump Height - 5/5
    Handling - 4/5
    Power - 1/5
    Passive Ability - Tails Flight: Tails can fly, it works like it does in games like Sonic Adventure and Sonic 06. He can do this in place of the homing attack.
    Special Technique - Flash Bang: Tails throws a wide mine forwards that, when stopped on by anyone but the Tails who threw it, will have their screen turn bright and their character becomes disoriented impairing their own hearing and vision. A nod to the technique of the same name from Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.
    Amy Rose
    Top Speed - 3/5
    Acceleration - 3/5
    Jump Height - 3/5
    Handling - 3/5
    Power - 3/5
    Passive Ability - Propeller Hammer: Allows Amy to spin around either her hammer and gain temporary flight. Acts like a third floaty jump that lets Amy glide like Knuckles through the air, but she can't climb walls like him either.
    Special Technique - Invisibility: A technique returning from Sonic 06. Allows Amy to become intangible to attacks and undetectable by everything that's trying to attack her. (Likely a special move that is shared with Espio)
    Shadow the Hedgehog
    Top Speed - 4/5
    Acceleration - 5/5
    Jump Height - 2/5
    Handling - 2/5
    Power - 2/5
    Passive Ability - Light Speed Dash: Similar to Sonic's own version of it.
    Special Technique - Chaos Control: Works like it's counterpart in Sonic Adventure 2 Sonic vs Shadow races. Stops all enemies in time as Shadow is able to move ahead for 20 seconds.
    Silver the Hedgehog
    Top Speed - 2/5
    Acceleration - 3/5
    Jump Height - 4/5
    Handling - 5/5
    Power - 1/5
    Passive Ability - Levitate: Works like it does in Sonic 06, giving him the ability to levitate for a short period of time based on a meter with a max flight for about 10 seconds max. If you tap the button twice, you can use the Teleport Dash to send yourself flying straight ahead though be careful not to fall off into a pit since this also drains the entire meter and needs it to recharge before you can fly again.
    Special Technique - Psycho Shock: Silver places a hand on the ground to release a electrical shockwave that hits all opponents and cause a variety of effects, ranging from slowing them down, to paralyzing them in the air, to reversing their controls, to disabling their ability to use power ups temporarily or even outright removing them. These effects last 15-20 seconds each.

    Honestly just modernize what SA2's speed battle did, give it some boost, maybe throw in some wisps and you're golden. Though I guess at that point you may as well have just made a single player sonic game as well.
    ...so I guess just a Sonic game with a multiplayer with a lot of alternate characters lol

    This plot you came up with gives me some Crash Nitro Kart vibes in particular. A slightly darker version of that concept of course, but still.
    On-foot racers have been attempted with other franchises as well. Rayman Arena immediately comes to mind. Ubisoft basically put the Rayman 2 engine in a racing game and went nuts from there. Boost gameplay actually makes a lot of sense for a revival of the Sonic R concept since boost is a perfect formula for speedrunning levels. As a fan of racing games, and as someone who appreciated what Sonic R was trying to do (not even the on-foot mechanic, the sheer amount of exploration and collectibles involved in the tracks was a damn good concept) even if the controls weren't the greatest, on-foot racers are a concept I'd love to see brought back again.

    Adding onto the gameplay what if there was different classes like Flight has a higher jump or a glide, Speed is fast but has worse items, strength has better items but is slower etc.
    And one of the characters could be the Avatar from Forces and your specific avatar can be imported from Forces but you can chose which class you want it to be in Speed Strength Flight etc.

    I LOVE your idea. Also, all the characters have methods of moving fast... and sonic can still be the fastest on foot. The sonic clones like shadow and metal sonic I mean... they’re fast anyways. Silver can move fast by levitating, tails can fly and propel himself with his tail... I mean there are a lot of options here. Knuckles can glide and climb up walls which is knuckles specific. And if you dont want to give everyone speed like sonic has just make the boost a sonic specific thing and give everyone else a different ability. If everyone needs boost then give sonic a slightly higher movement speed than everyone else.

    In response to that question of the day, my ideal Sonic Racing game would be remiescent of the sonic Riders series. I haven't played the OG Sonic Riders but it looks pretty exhilarating with the sense of speed and the trick system gives off some kind of high risk high reward.

    If I could recommend an idea for how the potential final boss could play out, this would be what I would do: (sorry for any typos)
    Do Don Pa’s (sorry if I misspelled that) Bossfight would be similar to some of the challenges from All-Stars Transform where are your given weapons to attack a rocket propelled tank. But unlike that mission, Pa would be hovering in front of you in his little vehicle and you would attack him with long range wisps, while he could pick up wisps and attack you in the same way. It would be the ultimate test of your quick reflexes since the power ups would be seemingly random so you would have to work with what you’re given and be prepared for what he’s given.
    The race would be a never ending race around the villain’s own personal fortress. The only way to complete the mission would be to destroy Pa’s vehicle.
    Once the boss is defeated, A short cut scene would play out of the vehicle crash landing onto the track. Pa tries to reach for his own pair of super shoes, but supersonic snag them and hold them just out of his reach almost taunting the villain.

      Well, a bit on the shorter side. This is more a game concept episode, with the story serving to justify it. It is interesting an it could work as a game. Though, I'm not sure it Tails should be the first one to go. He needs to have a bit more time spent with Sonic before being separated in order to raise the stakes. So somewhere in the middle of the story would work better, I think.

But on the other hand, as soon as Tails is eliminated we won't be seeing him trough the rest of the game (or at least that's the impression that I got, I could be wrong) And I think Tails as a character could have some really great moments in this new situation.     I think the characters should be unique. Basically Sonic R but with modern characters. I think the tracks would be more like the "get to the goal" type thing and there would be certain sections that characters like tails could fly over to basically skip it, or someone like knuckles could maybe break a wall to get a shortcut. I also think obstacle should make characters lose some rings, and if a character gets hit with no rings, they get sent back to a checkpoint, and these would be set throughout the level. After collecting enough rings (maybe 50) characters would be able to use special abilities. Sonic would temporarily be able to boost (he can't normally, but he does have the rest of his boost moveset, drifting, quickstep, etc.), Tails might use the tornado for a bit, Metal would either use the black shield or maximum overdrive, Shadow would temporarily slow down time, etc.. Each character would also have a few unique abilities they can use anytime, such as flying, gliding, drifting, homing attack, etc. Depending on the character. Also, I had an idea that Orbot and Cubot could have a single kart and they can switch places for different stats and abilities, similar to Mario Kart Double Dash. I think power ups shouldn't be present. I think character movesets should have enough variety and creativity that power ups wouldn't be necessary. I wouldn't remove the wisps outright, but they'd be character specific, probably just for Whisper. I think the tracks would be pretty similar to boost stages from Sonic unleashed/generations. As for story, I like what you've got, but how I set it up, I don't think the different shoes thing would be necessary. I really love the doll idea tho, and I'd love to see a little Jet Doll on like a toy hoverboard or something

    I think you should be able to play as whoever you want in story mode and the character who play as fights Dodon Pa. Also in Sonic Runners' files there was unused story mode icons of a Metal Espio and a Metal Eggman and I think those should be included somehow.

    I would make a modern Sonic R sequel, with more and bigger tracks, much more characters (maybe with skins), etc.
    In Sonic R, you could spindash at the start of the race with Sonic, Tails and a Knux thus getting a head start, but in the sequel you could do it with any character. (Not exactly being a Spindash)
    Characters could be way more balanced, having a similar top speed but still having different stats. Some could have a specific ability that lets you take exclusive paths and shortcuts: Tails flying, Knuckles gliding, Silver levitating, maybe Espio running on walls, etc.
    Other characters could have an ability to attack nearby players and bypass them: Shadow's homing attack, Amy using her hammer, etc. (Sonic probably wouldn't have any ability but it's compensated by being the fastest one)
    Instead of the typical Mario Kart items, you could choose a Wisp at the character select screen and break monitors to fill its power meter and use it.
    The game would have the typical single player and multi player modes and maybe a challenge mode.

    I feel as though sonic riders should be the definitive sonic spin-off racing game it had so much potential in my opinion. Also it’s even weirder because we still see Jet the Hawk and the Babylon Rouges in the IDW comics and other spin-offs. But no sonic riders or special appearances in other games it’s strange to me.

    I love your idea for a racing game, but I would like to present a small edit to the finale. To set the scene, the last 3 contestants standing would be Sonic, Metal and Eggman. After you finished that race, a cutscene would play where Sonic gets first cause of course he does. Dr. Eggman, confident that he has this, deactivates Metal Sonic so that he can take second place. But it doesn’t work, instead, Metal rebels and uses his V. Maximum Overdrive to pass Eggman at the last second. As Eggman is dragged away, protesting and cursing out Metal, Metal just looks back with those cold red eyes, before doing the same to Sonic. Because think about it, when was the first time racing was a concept in the Sonic series? Not a selling point, but I mean a concept? Sonic CD. Metal V. Sonic. So lets make that the finale. Metal Sonic having the power to disobey through his will to beat Sonic alone. It makes total sense here. The final race would take place on a mashup of all previous Metal Sonic races. Stardust Speedway (CD) Golden Bay Zone (Forces) and whatever happened in Sonic 4. And because it make sense from a narrative standpoint, throw in a Final Fortress section (if I got that wrong, I mean the final stage of Heroes) cause Metal was the big bad of that game. Oh yeah, and the music would be a mashup of all of these themes and it would sound amazing. The race goes about you expect. It ends with a closing door, Metal would smash into it. And the finale goes the same as it was in the video. I just think that by replacing Eggman with Metal would be so cool and would be better for the narrative. (Also Metal is my favorite Sonic character so I am VERY biased) If anyone read this far, uhh thanks and have a good day.

      Bad ending: Sonic slams into the wall, but instead of falling, he gets dragged off. Metal celebrates, but then gets betrayed because his engine would solve their energy crisis. He ain’t having any of that and overdrives, but quickly gets shocked by a device installed in him, deactivating all his tricks, he runs to get help from Sonic(he would help and even Metal’s programmed pride can’t stop him from realizing his bag of tricks was the only thing that kept him from needing help), who escaped offscreen, but they both get dog piled right as they were about to run off to save their friends. They both reach for each other, but can’t reach far enough, and get dragged offscreen, and then the screen goes black except for the words Bad Ending

It's a shame that I keep dying to play later, but I know it doesn't exist and probably never will :,D I don't know why people are so mad at the wisps, they don't ruin the story, they only exist there (and I kind of like them) But anyway!     I think we should work from how the classic games work, where every single character has identical basic movement mechanics, top speed, etc. and then have give an ability to each character, and then just have some of the characters the same other than cosmetics.
    or if you want each character to be unique, have a set of strengths and a set of weaknesses and then mix and match them for each character.

    I think Eggman on foot as an unlockable character would be funny, but wouldn't be part of the main plot. Also I got SA2 recently so I've really been into the Chao Garden, so throw that in too. I meant it's got races so why not? Maybe a Chao racing only spin off as well.

    I thought of a weird mode for a racing game, so hear me out... A chaotix mode where your characters both hold a link ring, (or whatever there called) and you have to work together and not mess each other up.

    Here is my idea for a Sonic racing game: The game will be a Sonic Riders game. The story will have an engaging plot and a tone similar to the Sonic Adventure games. As for characters you can play as:
    Characters available to play as in the story mode (you'll also be able to play as them in other modes):
    Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Jet, Wave, Storm, Cream, Big, Vector, Espio, Charmy, Shadow, Rouge, and Omega.
    Characters available as Unlockables:
    Mighty, Ray, Eggman, Metal Sonic, Tails Doll, Metal Knuckles, Chaos, Tikal, Fang, Bean, Bark, Shade, Blaze, Silver, Marine, Eggman Nega, Classic Sonic, Gamma, Emerl, Gemerl, Honey, Tiara, Mecha Sonic, and a custom character.
    Characters available as DLC:
    Sally Acorn and the rest of the Freedom Fighters, Sticks, Cosmo, Sonia, Manic, Mephiles, Infinite, Tangle, and Whisper.
    And as for courses:
    Courses you play in the story mode will be courses from previous Sonic Riders games plus a few new courses. You can also race in the courses in other modes.
    Courses available as Unlockables:
    Press Garden, Mirage Saloon, Crisis City, Wave Ocean, Planet Wisp and the rest of the stages in Sonic Colors, Death Egg, Kingdom Valley, Aquatic Base, Seaside Hill, Radical Train, Hang Castle, Sky Sanctuary, Sunset Heights, Luminous Forest, and Westopolis.
    Courses available as DLC:
    Green Hill, Chemical Plant, Emerald Coast, Emerald Hill, Ice Cap, Honeycomb Highway, Studiopolis, Star Light, Stardust Speedway, Eggmanland, Oil Ocean, Hydrocity, Lava Reef, and Flying Battery.

    I think that maybe a boost, adventure hybrid like Sonic GT would work and each character would have a special ability like Tails being able to fly and Metal Sonic having V.Maximum Overdrive. This will make the characters feel different because let us be honest after Sonic forces people despise the boost formula and I think that combining the speed and platforming elements from other 3D Sonic games would make the game feel fresh.

    I think instead of a race between Sonic and Eggman, it should be one between Sonic and Shadow.
    Just before the race, Shadow makes a request to lift the speed shoe rule so that he can race Sonic at his true speed and prove once and for all who the faster hedgehog is. It would be a photo-finish and Sonic would beat Shadow just by a hair.
    If the race tracks are versions of old Sonic levels, then I think a good track for this would be a Final Rush track, like in SA2 when they first raced against each other.

    may i suggest a royal scientist tanooki character who works for dodonpa? id imagine him explaining the energy crisis, and not wanting dodonpa to go through with the kidnapping plan, therefore giving sonic an example of a good person who lives in this world and therefore more motivation to save it. maybe hell try to convince dodonpa to stop but ultimately desist after threats of losing his job, which he needs to support a family? then at the end hed be the one to bring the chaos emeralds to sonic in exchange for dodonpa’s defeat and super sonic’s energy to end the crisis.

    Really glad Sticks is featured here, she's one of my favorite Sonic characters and it's sad she hasn't really been used since Boom ended. As for my ideal Sonic racing game, it'd either be Riders 4 or Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing 3.

    all i an think of is SA2's 2P battles, sonic's stages, rings = specials , make it a 2-6 player race to the finish, each character is not identical, but almost. like how metal sonic had incredible speed but no powers, and amy had less speed but chea--i mean had more powers.
    make each character have 2 powers, consuming 25/50/75 rings for each,
    each character's stat lines would be different but react mostly the same, with a move set that controls the same but feels slightly different for each.
    keeping the homing attack ofcourse,
    -make Knuckle's version of a homing attack be slow moving (weak glide, losing horizontal momentum to retain vertical) but he can launch the target enemy like a projectile if he holds the button. make shadow's a blink to the enemy rather than a dash. make Omega's a grappling hook to swing so he can still clear wide gaps using enemies but might struggle with speed and height retention.
    make the dash not a permanent thing, but make the 15 ring cost give you 3 short single use dashes, some that can react differently.
    Knuckles/Omega would break objects in front of him, where as Espio would gain double distance on adjacent walls and become invisible, Tails' would give him bonus height from his dash.
    in terms of story, i think Sega could get way with making it very slim if it is shown that it is more about the gameplay, the world could be like Sonic Unleashed, with variant levels based on countries again, if people want to be pissy about Sonic's speed, maybe give Sonic a limiter ring like Shadow has, make the story something like the first sonic riders game, starts of as friendly compition for a fantastic prize, a lifetime supply of chilidogs, 3 of the 7 Chaos emeralds, enough money for Vector to pay off his debts for leaving the lights on at the office for all of Sonic heroes...? who knows.
    ofc i would be even more satisfied if the next sonic game was more about physics and flow rather like in Sonic GT :^)

    Here's who I'd pick for the racing game, and I'd split them into groups of three for convince sake:
    Team Sonic: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles
    Team Rose: Amy, Cream, Big (I'd have preferred Cosmo, but she's not a games character)
    Team Dark: Shadow, Rouge, Omega
    Team Chaotix: Espio, Charmy, Vector
    Team Babylon: Jet, Wave, Storm
    Team Sol: Blaze, Silver, Marine
    Team Mania: Honey, Mighty, Ray (I really think Honey would be the best choice here as she was a character who was featured in the classic games as well.)
    Team Wisp: Tangle, Jewel, Whisper (Okay, technicalities, but hey, Jewel seems like the best fit to be Tangle and Whisper's teammate. She's good friends with Tangle already and she sounds like she'd get on well with Whisper too.)
    Team Hooligan: Fang, Bean, Bark
    Team Guardian: Shade, G-merl, Tikal (I know Shade's only been in one game, but I love her.)
    Team Eggman: Metal Sonic, Orbot & Cubot, Eggman (Okay, there's four, but hey, Orbot and Cubot can't be split up)

    Yeah I'd play that. I don't especially like boost gameplay myself but this definitely sounds more interesting than TSR. I'll be totally honest all that I want is a new Sonic Riders. Something which plays like the first game and continues the story of Zero Gravity.
    Maybe Sonic and co are out, doing whatever it is they do, and Tails happens to have a chaos emerald, but then the Babylon Rouges show up and steal it from them, inciting the trio to go track them down. Meanwhile the Rouges have their own mcguffin, probably some kind of ancient Babylonian tech, when they're ambushed by team Sonic who steal it from them. Now the two groups are attempting to track each other down and get what was stolen, but are, in reality, being manipulated by an unknown third force into fighting each other for some reason. This would eventually be revealed to be Infinite, who is attempting to get revenge on both Sonic and friends as well as Eggman, whom he's also been trying to direct the heroes towards. Of course Infinite doesn't give much of a shit about the Rouges, but he might have found out from Eggman that they had beef with team Sonic so he used their likenesses to distract Sonic while he set his plans into motion. Basically planning on using the chaos emeralds and the Babylon mcguffin to super charge himself, as he has since fused with the phantom ruby and the death egg robot from the end of Forces, so that he can effectively re-shape the entire world using th ephantom rubies power. At the end team Sonic, the Babylon Rouges, Eggman and maybe some other people team up and beat Infinite which causes some kind of weird fluctuation in all the various arcane elements at play and Infinite is turned into the phantom Ruby. Eggman suggests that Infinite's conciousness may still be in the ruby, but it's dormant for now. Sonic asks Tails if perhaps there is a way to seperate Infinite from teh Ruby and make him... just a guy again, but Taisl is uncertain but holds onto it just in case. Everyone parts ways and Sonic even comments that Jet plays the hero surprisingly well, which he's quick to reject. Alls well that ends well-ish aaaaaaaaand roll credits.

    My idea would be a classic Sonic racing game with a bunch of characters, Sonic R cast, Fighters remake gang, Mighty, Ray, maybe the villians from the game gear Tails games, it plays like classic Sonic in 3d but with item boxes, shields, some badniks, maybe an oil slick as a banana peel replacement. The plot could be Eggman trying to get everyone he has a grudge with to a race so he can secretly axe them all off, and invite some of his friends,not to axe them off of course, so the person in last place gets taken away by Eggman to attempt to kill them, of course as a way to treat himself after cheating himself to first place of course. Thing is, even though this guy has an IQ of over 300, Sonic still beats him in the last race (which is more of a timed boss fight then a race) and finds out about the scientist's scheme, After one last level where you have to find the password and free everybody from Eggman's planned genocide. (Yeah, pretty dark, but I feel like Eggman's a phed up phyco, have you seen what he's done in some games?) Maybe as a little nod to some characters' personalities (Mighty intentionally following behind Ray to give his bud the upperhand, Metal gang grouping up together, maybe if you don't play as a member of team Sonic, team Sonic will group up with each other.) Maybe call it something like Sonic, the Race is on! or something like that.

    I really don't like the idea that all characters are MUCH slower then Sonic. Yeah, he IS the fastest, but not by THAT much! So many games show this! In the comics even Amy has some form of Sonic's power, Ivo uses his quail in the movie...
    Also, I don't really like the character type mechanic. Yeah, it's cool that it's easy to add a lot of characters this way, but I really think they should at least have SOME unique properties. Imagine if, Miles could fly, Knukles could dig and glide, Amy could hummer jump... I mean, Yeah, then the game could have only 15 characters instead of 30, but I think it would be worth it.
    Also please no more classic Sonic, like really, don't make the split timeline theory canon, that'd be the absolute worst!

    Idea for the hub world thing: What if there was a machine in the hub world that allowed you to quickly access levels or challenges? This is so the people who don't like hub worlds (Such as somecallmejohnny) nothing to complain about. (Of course you could still do everything through the HW normally.)

    I don't think Chaos not being in the Master Emerald would be a problem regardless because he was never sealed back in the Master Emerald; Tikal wanted to, but Sonic objected because the incident that occurred just prior proved that it wasn't a real solution, and if he was released once again, the incident itself will repeat as well. Instead, Sonic went Super using the positive energy of the Chaos Emeralds in order to defeat Chaos, who then realized that good people do exist and calmed down, no sealing into the Master Emerald necessary; afterwards, he and Tikal float into the air and then disappear, so while that could be them being transported back to the Emerald to be sealed again, I always thought of it as them going to another, unknown location, especially since I see no reason why he would need to be sealed at that point.

    So Tails Doll comes back in the form of being the replacement for Tails after he's eliminated, but here's what I wanna know... Where's Metal Knux? If you're gonna bring one back, bring em' both back! Honestly, I'd love to see them both return in some form in the main series, or maybe a spinoff again. Tails Doll's inclusion here was a neat surprise!
