They only had about 7 minutes of animation completed before it was scrapped and rehauled entirely around late 2004. The same animation would keep being shown to investors even as late as 2005 and every model was still in the servers around that time as well. Really nice of Neil Breen to tell us how he burnt an obscene amount of effort into stuff that's completely intangible. The full-scale city that you barely see. The charming pencil tests and storyboards that got dumped The amazing choreography that's awkwardly slapped onto glitchy jiggly models.
I loved watching behind-the-scenes stuff like this when I was a kid. Even though the end result turned out to be rubbish, mostly due to ol' Larry's horribly misguided decision-making, I still find the animation process fascinating. Loads of talented people worked really hard on this.
It's amazing that it took Foodfight and the mind of Larry Kasanoff to inspire all this "innovation" with IBM! Prior to this, nobody had ever devised the breakthrough of stiff, soulless mocap. Animation had only been attempted by amateurs like Disney and Pixar, who used the same techniques for years across multiple movies -- not because they were time-tested and worked, but because those studios lacked Threshold Animation's forward-looking sense of "innovation." What's even funnier is that most of this early work looks better than what ended up in the finished movie!
A lot of what Larry is saying about how to animate movies are smart if the technology was done right. It also sounds like he reading lines off a script because it sounds like he knows more about animation than he actually does in reality.

multiple reasons why thats highly unlikely: 1: the movie had 1000's of characters, most of which were actually scrapped from the mocap version (2012) 2: making a project akin to this would take a whole team of people, for character/map modelling, texturing/animating, and directors. 3: the cost of it would be overwhelming, they have the full audio from the investor workprint, and if they wanted to, it would be possible, but very costly like i said, nothing is that easy, and larry isnt rebooting it thats for sure. even if he did he'd make the same mistakes, look at the bobbleheads movie (2022) that he also directed.
Reason Four or Five; Licensing. Some brands might want high prices for their use in the film. Then again, this might be more tenuous, since companies might think this could be the next LEGO/Barbie movie. But there's also the Emoji Movie...

The 2002 animation was not done with motion capture. They only put that animation in this reel because it looks good. None of that was mocap.
