John has a personality that doesn’t mind being lost in the crowd, his talent still shines through and we still see him, it’s our appreciation that makes us notice him as his awesomeness draws us in.

" (Queen) will be anything it wants to be." - Let alone the wonderful musical changes , Freddie's brilliant here. I've never heard another singer that worked their voice like this. How he goes from one sound to another within the same sentence amazes and astonishes me. Freddie was one of a kind. And in so being, so was Queen.

Innuendo is Freddie's and Roger's song but credited to Queen. Freddie's voice is amazing, Brian's guitar work is brilliant and a flamenco part is Steve Howe's (from Yes) perfection.
The message of the song is powerful and Innuendo is like a book cover of 👑 opus: Bohemian Rhapsody at the beginning and Innuendo at the end.
    It's a final epic masterpiece.

"Innuendo" began as a jam session in Switzerland amongst Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon in spring 1989. Freddie Mercury was upstairs and heard them playing the beat, and turned it into a song, creating the melody and starting off the lyrics.

Actually the video fits the song. It depicts man's struggles, war, terrorism and also man's happiness. The Spanish guitar section shows a bit of history and a pyramid, which speaks of man's history of struggles that continues on and on. The operatic section tells us to be ourselves, encourage us to not be fake and be of courage. The last section and throughout the song is keep trying to be better people, don't give up, keep smiling and enjoy life because what will be will be. Thank you for the reaction. I love this song.

Innuendo requires more than one time hearing and watching: More you listen to it, more layers and depths you discover and after that you are stunned, speechless and without a breath! 😮
One part is the music itself because there are multiple changes of tempo, instruments ... then there is the video - a masterpiece itself (it won a Monitor Award for Best Achievement in Music Videos) and has also a lot of changes and when you absorbe that, there is the lyrics with dark haunting life and death / God or Higher power questions but also parts filled with hope ...
    Mindblowing.

From what I read somewhere, Freddie and Roger worked on the lyrics for Innuendo and Brian was responsible for the arrangements. Freddie, under the influence of the album he had recorded with Montserrat Caballé, decided that the song would have a Spanish sound. In the video, each member of the band was portrayed as a great painter of history. Freddie was Leonardo da Vinci, Roger was Jackson Pollock, Brian was a craftsman from the Victorian empire and John was Pablo Picasso. Perhaps this explains why his face in the video is shown as a colorful painting. As a suggestion, next time you could react to "My life has been saved".

  • @gwyhad

I was very young, I had started listening to music about two years ago and this song left me speechless, since this song I have been a Queen fan. Music has no limits, if you're as good as Queen. Howe played the Spanish guitar, they found him on a street in Switzerland. When the band asked him to add something like Paco de Lucía, he thought that he loved the song as it was, but maybe it would be a good idea to add that "De Lucía" part. When he started doing his job he got scared thinking that maybe he was destroying a wonderful song. In the end. Steve Howe always says that he's very, very proud of that part of the song.
Freddie was very sick and that is the reason for the video. They use parts of videos from other albums and use 4 artists to characterize the band members. Freddie is Leonardo, Deacon is Picasso (I don't remember the others). I think the video won some awards.
After the video, Freddie said that he didn't want it to end up as a cartoon and in the following videos he would appear in person, more or less characterized.

There is a story how Steve Howe got to play at 👑 Innuendo:
The band was in their recording studio in Montreaux, Switzerland recording the album in 1990, Steve Howe was in Geneva at that time and had a spontaneous ride to Montreux but didn't know Queen were at their studio. They knew and respected each other from 1971. Steve got to a restaurant for lunch where he was spotted by a tech who was a tech for Yes at the beginning but then adopted by Queen. He was surprised and excited to see Steve and invited him to visit the boys in a studio. After lunch Steve walked to the studio and found Freddie , Brian and Roger waiting for him. Steve said: "They were sitting there together. These guys were tight as a duck's arse. 🙃They said: Let us play you the album. I listened to I Can't Live With You, I'm Going Slightly Mad and they saved Innuendo till last. They played me the Innuendo and I was blown away. Then they dropped the bombshell: Do you want to play on the track? 😮 I was stunned and said that Brian has done a marvellous job. But Brian insisted: We want some crazy Spanish guitar flying around over the top! I've done some stuff there but on Spanish guitar I really don't improvise. Don't just sit on that thing, play right away across! ...
So I chose one of three flamenco guitars they had and we doodled and noodled and I had thought that I've bitten more than I could chew! I had to learn some structure and I improvised... It took us a few hours. Then we went to dinner and when we got back we listened to that part and boys were amazed saying: That's great! That's what we wanted! 😮❤
... and that was it. I drove back to Geneva and some days later I received their thank you letter and credits to the song!" ❤

      @iris67si 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

@@gabrielcaprav Steve Howe and members of Queen knew and admired each other from early 1971 when Queen supported Yes at Kingston Polytechnic gig. 😮
Steve said that later they were all running into each other at studios and socially too. He also said that he likes bands that have camaraderie and Queen were a great example of that. He thought of them being down to earth and never looking down on anybody. All different personalities but very much a self-contained band. They were like family.
Steve himself is a very humble and down to earth man and exceptional guitarist. He was so proud that he was the only guitarist that ever played on the Queen song. He spoke about Brian and the boys with a lot of admiration. ❤️

Innuendo is one of my favorites and in my opinion one of Queen’s best songs ever, the Bohemian Rhapsody of the 90s in a way. It changes a lot so it might take time to grow on you but at some point it does, and I think the video fits the message perfectly. At this point they were all sharing writing credits for the songs but it was written by Freddie & Roger. From the Innuendo album, one of my favorites too and Freddie’s very last album with Queen before he died, if you want to explore more from it; “The Show Must Go On”, “These Are The Days Of Our Lives” & “I’m Going Slightly Mad” all have great music videos you can check out along with the songs, though in all of these you can feel the sadness of Freddie’s last few months, they are must listens from Queen’s discography! Phenomenal! This is considered Bohemian Rhapsody's younger sister and "March of the black Queen" is considered the Older sister. Not only is Queen a band of geniuses that transcend everything imaginable and stand the test of time, but of deep, creative thinkers that border on (if not totally delve into) philosophical! Its really interesting and clever how they decided on which artist or artistic style each member of the band was illustrated in homage to: Freddie in homage to Leonardo Da Vinci, Dr. Sir Brian after victorian etchings, John in homage to Picasso, and Roger after Jackson Pollock.

this is their last studio album they recorded...together. It is quite a genius song, and the video is odd, but at this time, Freddie was done doing videos. I love that they are their own genre, it keeps them so interesting to me. A little something for everyone!! always love and appreciate your reactions!

Hello guys, first time commenting on your channel, hope all is going well there!
Innuendo was the last work the whole group recorded together.
As for the video, I recall hearing in some interviews with Peter Freestone (Freddie's personal assistant) that Freddie did not want to be remembered with a last video as a sort of puppet or animation, so then they recorded the very last and emotional one "These are the days of our lives" which was the very last one, and as a farewell with one last message to Queen fans at the end of it.
Also, another very powerful song on this very same album is "The Show Must go on" I think that one has the most powerful vocals from Freddie.
May I suggest a song Coach will also probably like, "Princes of the Universe", you need to check that one out, Brian is not using his usual Red Special on that one.
    Much love from Spain!

Queen number ones in UK where Bohemian Rhapsody ( Nov 1975) then Under Pressure (Nov 1981) followed by Innuendo ( Jan 1991) then Bohemian Rhapsody (Jan 1991). Face It Alone released in 2022 was the most downloaded song in the world for five days in a row and topped the iTunes download charts in 21 countries and number one on the UK Official Vinyl Singles Chart on 25 November 2022. The music for Innuendo was written by Freddie the lyrics were written by Freddie and Roger. The song started as a jam session in Switzerland amongst Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon in spring 1989. Freddie Mercury was upstairs and heard them playing the beat, and turned it into a song, creating the melody and starting off the lyrics. The song was credited to all the band as all the music on the Miracle album was. Freddie'a health was failing him by the time the was released hence the video style. Personally I think it's a masterpiece.

Hi folks! Boy, it always gets great right at the end, yeah? When this came out, I couldn't believe it. The "old" Queen was back! Having no idea it was Freddie's tip of the hat on his way out the door. This whole record was stellar, but this one, batting leadoff no less, outshone anything they'd done musically, lyrically, maybe since the 70s. It made a world of difference when they started crediting all the songs to everyone. but we all knew who wrote what. The only song this compares to is Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir", which Robert Plant couldn't help dropping in to his performance of this song at the tribute show. (It was nice, but I think his ego made him do it. I think he was a little jealous.) When I play this one, and I play it a lot, I play it *loud*. Love you guys!

Hello Mr & Mrs Coach. May I remind you that Inuendo was made months before Freddie Mercury's death. So wasn't fit enough to appear in person for video.
So this is why it's like this.
I do agree with your view regarding John Deacons portrail on the video.
This is song is like Bohemian Raphsody with regard it seems to be a mix up of songs rolled into one song.
This is my insight about it.

Hey Mr. and Mrs. C., I really thought you would have loved this award-winning masterpiece... if you watch it again, I'm sure you will learn to appreciate the intricacies of its brilliance...
Here is what Wikipedia had to say...
"A very elaborate music video was created to accompany the single and released on 20 December 1990, combining stop motion animation with rotoscoping and featuring dolls in a detailed miniature cinema set. The band members only appear as illustrations and images, mainly taken from earlier Queen music videos (such as "The Miracle", "Scandal", "Breakthru", "The Invisible Man", "I Want It All", and clips from the then unreleased "Live at Wembley '1986"), on a cinema screen in the same manner as in the film Nineteen Eighty-Four, with Mercury drawn in the style of Leonardo da Vinci, May in the style of Victorian etchings, Taylor in the style of Jackson Pollock, and Deacon in the style of Pablo Picasso.[11] It also featured a montage of historical stock footages, including from both WWII and the Gulf War. The interlude of Flamenco music showed claymation figures of jesters performing, which were animated by Klaybow Films. The video received heavy rotation on MTV Europe[12] and won production company DoRo (who also produced the videos to all other singles from the Innuendo album) a Monitor Award for Best Achievement in Music Video."
Some people refer to this song as the third masterpiece in the trilogy of masterpieces that are Queen... the first being "The March of the Black Queen", then "Bohemian Rhapsody" and then "Innuendo"... although I believe Brian's "The Prophet's Song" is the most underrated song and should be included in their great masterpieces in its own right... such brilliance in musical artistry is almost beyond comprehension... love and blessings to all.

The acoustic guitar is played by Steve Howe. He is from the Progressive Group Yes. Another fine group with albums up to date. They had great albums from 71 to 80 except one that was a clunker.
This track is going back to Prog.
My mother loved it, but generally didn't like Prog music.
