If you look at most of the videos for the last album released with Freddie, there are maybe 1 or 2 videos where you actually see Freddie in the flesh, the rest of the videos are "creative".
You couldn't find a live version, because it doesn't exist. Freddie last performed live with Queen in 1986 5 years before this sone was released. It was released just 11 months before Freddie died.
You should listen "the show must go on", its from the same album, but you can feel all the emotions freddie had, becouse he knew he was dying, but he wanted the show to continue. One if not my favourite queen song.
Brian May said that Freddy was really sick when they recorded The Show Must Go On, and Brian offered to do the lead vocal on that track since it was so vocally demanding. He said that Freddy told then to roll the tape, he took a shot of vodka and nailed the entire vocal in a single take.
Freddy was a treasure. He was so sick while recording this. There were times when he could not even stand, but he always gave 1000% every time. And then he would collapse. He died very shortly after it was completely.

In this song, during the Spanish guitar sequence, Brian May is joined by Steve Howe, the guitarist from Yes (try "Roundabout" from them). In fact, members of Queen collaborated with many of rocks greatest musicians (because they were all in the same company anyway), and Freddie, though a lead vocalist, was a musician! Great reaction, sir!

Hi there, Freddie Mercury's #1 fan here. One reason Queen made a collage video for this is that Freddie was actually dying from AIDS while recording this. He was so ill that some days he could only stand for 10 or 15 minutes at a time. Yet, there he was, soldiering on and insisting on recording as many vocals as possible before he died. Fun fact: many of the lead vocals for the "Innuendo" album were recorded on the first take. So glad you mentioned ROGER TAYLOR'S drumming a few times. Yeah, Roger is one of the best drummers ever. No surprise some it sounded "Bonham-y" to you. Roger was heavily influenced by John Bonham. Brian May's guitars are wildly creative on this, and John Deacon's bass guitar is rock solid, as always. John is criminally underrrated as a bass player. So yeah, everything about this band. This was their last album released before Freddied died Nov. 24, 1991 at age 45. The whole album is a masterpiece, one of their best, imho. Give a listen to "The Show Must Go On" in those headphones. He died near the end of 1991, same year this album came out. He was really sick during the recording process, but you wouldn't know that by his voice at all...
This is a very textured and layered composition with those signature Queen switch ups, written by Roger Taylor and Freddie Mercury. The video for this won the award for most creative. The Spanish guitar portion is played by Steve Howe (Yes Band) and Brian May. Howe thought Queen was crazy to have him play on the title track and at first he didn't think he could even play the part but he practiced and completely nailed it. Thank you for your reaction to one of my favorite Queen songs. No live version of this song because Freddie was way too sick by this time to be able to do one, he was barely able to walk or stand but those vocals!!! Everyone in this band writes music and has number 1 hits and each of them is in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. Each of them has a different taste in music which explains how Queen has no specific genre and each of them contributes to the songs with the original writer having final say. Freddie and Brian wrote most of Queen's music but Roger and John have both written some of Queen's biggest hits.
I still remember coming home after purchasing the LP. I put it on the record player started this song and somewhere in the middle I gasped and only then I realized that I held my breath. it's been a long time ago, but I will never forget the feeling and at that time no one, besides his family and the band knew that Freddie was already so sick that he would be dead a few months later. There were rumours that he was sick, but we all dismissed it as what they were at the time... rumours published by some british tabloids, that only were re-printed in some magazines here in Germany. No one has seen Freddie in public for a long time, but that were the days before social media and we were used to not knowing what our favourite actors, bands etc were up to all the time. We only got small articles that band xyz is releasing a new album, nothing more. we were not so invested in the private lives of our favourites and tbh. sometimes I want those times back.
The Show Must Go On deserves a listen and is a true testimony to the talent of Freddie Mercury. Especially as it was recorded right before his health prevented him from doing any more recording.
All 4 members of Queen wrote… all 4 were hit makers. But… within the group’s writing, Freddie was the most prolific - but he was followed *very* closely by Brian May. After those two, Roger Taylor (drummer) wrote more than John Deacon (bassist), but John had the greater number of hits per songs written , percentage-wise.
This song is iconic, a real masterpiece. Perfection meets art. All members of Queen are so great talents and it's a pleasure to hear this music every day. I'm thankful for this gift.
Isaac… KUDOS to you for reacting to this lesser-known masterpiece!! This era of Queen music seems to “fly under the radar” and a lot of folks are unfamiliar with the songs that came out of it, but my FAVORITE music is from this time period. NO LIVE VERSIONS WITH FREDDIE SINGING, EXCEPT FOR FAN-MADE “FAKE LIVE” MIXES. Freddie was incredibly ill with AIDS at the time this was recorded and passed away not long after.
Talking of John Bonham of Led Zeppelin & a live version of Innuendo, Robert Plant performed this song with the surviving members of Queen at the Freddie Mercury Tribute at Wembley Stadium in 1992
Recorded live at the Montreux studio. Written by Roger Taylor and Freddie Mercury. But credited to Queen. No live version im afraid. Freddie was far too sick. They last performed live with Freddie in 1986. This was released in 1991 the last while Freddie was still alive. He died 11 months later.
Sadly, there is no live version, Freddie was dying 😢 ... Innuendo was recorded in last year of his life ... The Innuendo album was released in February 1991, Freddie died 8 months later... 💔😢 The song gives you shivers down the spine and the whole album is simply masterpiece. The March Of The Black Queen is like a trailor for Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody (1975), Innuendo (1991) is the closure...
Imagine this being the first Queen song you heard as a kid. Then, learning Freddie had only recently died, at an age when you are only just starting to process the fact your own father died when you were too young to remember him. And only after all that hearing Bohemian Rhapsody in the movie Wayne's World. The early 90s were a wild time to be alive.
Queen were and still are the best Band in the world! Listen their catalogue and watch their videos and live gigs. And maybe you shouldnt talk while listening
Great vid ! Freddy really gave it on that one, specially considering his health at the time. You should try the first album of pink floyd, its another level in terms of recording
Nothing less than a masterpiece. I have no shame to say that I had goosebumps all through this song. It's simply beyond me to explain what it was like to live through the career of this band, particularly during the Freddie years. So many highlights, so many hits, so many live performances where we said in unison 'no fucking way'. I saw them in concert after Freddie's passing with the very fine Paul Rodgers. The first encore was a videoscreen of Freddie's last performance of Bo Rap and there were people crying, and screaming and wailing and calling out his name. I've never known an artist to affect a population like he did. Mercury - messenger to the God's to bring you rock'n'roll but he was also the Pied Piper and we followed right until the end. Of all the great artists, he is the only one I really, truly miss... *therecanbeonlyone*
“I’ve listened to the songs from the eighties: we will rock you and we are the champions” Ahhh so sweet, you’re almost there🥲 But truly: nice to see what you are doing and giving us insight of Gen Z thinking to my favourite kind of music
You should also to listen "The Show Must Go On", "It's Late", "The Prophet's Song" or even "The March Of The Black" a lot of Queen fans says that "The March Of The Black Queen" is pre-Bohemian Rhapsody ;)
Watch Queen at live aid for a masterclass in how truly great Queen were with Freddy who was the ultimate showman in front of a worldwide audience, There is no Autotune no gimmicks just pure talent and rated as one of the worlds greatest performances.
I am "young" enough to say that this is the only Queen song I remember video for on MTV. Took me a while, but put it all together with songs from radio! (I had to call the station and ask "WTF is this?!?" when I first heard Bo Rap!)
The band were jamming when they came up with the riff this song was based on. It was inspired by Kashmir! Roger Taylor the drummer and Freddie wrote this song. Every band member wrote songs. They all have number one hits
6:50 freddie's last concert with queen was in 1986. this song came out 5 years later. in 1992 innuendo was played live for the only time ever. since then the only thing i can think of where this song appeared in a live concert was as a pre-recorded orchestral cover to open the show and lead into now i'm here.
funny that you mention Led Zeppelin, Roger Taylor (the drummer) wrote most of the lyrics inspired by and as kind of a tribute to Led Zeppelin :) I became a subscriber bc of your interesting BTS reactions, but now I'm all here for Queen! Queen i my first musical memory - the first song I rememeber EVER listening to is 'I Want to Break Free' when I was 3 or 4 yrs old (which you should listen to!!) and I've been a super fan since(born 1994). My dad actually went to their Live Aid concert (which you should also react to, the full set is on youtube!!!!) and I'm so sad I was born in a generation withouth Freddie. I've been to a few of their concerts now with Adam Lambert as their singer, but.... it's just not the same. Freddie is a legend. So happy you're listening to more of their repertoire
7:13 FINALY - someone singing praises to other members of Queen not just Freddie! Queen was a once in a million years kind of group. You will never get 4 individuals with such skill on their individual instrument AND writing skills in one single band again! Freddie, Brian, Rodger and John were all fantastic songwriters. Not even the Beatles cans say that about themselves. Sure they all wrote songs but each Queen member wrote AT LEAST one number one hit (Beatles didn't). That's unheard of. And by some tastes the bassist John, who's sometimes the most under appreciated member, wrote some of the biggest hits and some of the most beautiful songs.
The flamenco-style guitar section was played by Steve Howe (of the band Yes) because 1. He was there and was a friend of the band, and 2. Brian May couldn't play it.
Roger Taylor (drummer) was the band member that come up with the original idea of the song. It then developed as a jam session in the studio. It was a tribute to Kashmir by Led Zeppelin as you worked out.
Queen definitely is a good rabbit hole to drop into. 😁 (And so is Pink Floyd. Glad to see you're putting them on your playlist!). Btw, since you want to explore the 70s and since you are a drummer, you might want to check out the Carpenters doing 'Mr Guder' live at Budogan in 1974).
I love the connection you drew with Kashmir. This song was definitely inspired by Led Zeppelin to some extent, and both songs heavily utilise world music (sitar tuning in kashmir and flamenco in innuendo, scales, etc)
You were bang on; this grew out of a studio jam session but was heavily inspired by 'Kashmir' (Freddie's sisters name is Kashmira by the way). Both song and album debut at number one. First time in their career.
If you want to hear more, i fully recommend two of the songs from the latter recordings of Freddie's lifetime. The Show Must Go On is mind blowing, and Mother Love is the last recording he made, while dying of a terminal illness, and he still sounds better than anyone else ever.
This is near the end of Freddie’s human form, before he turned into a god. Roger’s angry drumming is no surprise. Not sure how the band managed to get through making this album but I’m glad they did. My favourite Queen song❤
Great reaction vid! You should check out the song “March of the Black Queen” from their second album Queen II. It’s definitely a pre-cursor to Bohemian Rhapsody.
There are no bad Queen songs, not a single one was less than brilliant. Freddie Mercury is one of the greatest singers and performers that has ever lived. People will try, but no one will ever match him. I wish he was still alive and gracing us with his incomparable voice.
Fun thing with a lot of Queen songs: quite often the most prominent backing vocalist is the songwriter. Freddie Mercury, Brian May and Roger Taylor all sang lead vocals on songs throughout their career but Brian and Roger also wrote songs Freddie sang. John Deacon didnt sing so the trick doesnt work for him but you'll usually get a funkier bassline and less prominent guitar work on his songs.
This entire album is worth listening to, once you realize that the band knew when they were writing and recording it, that their good friend and band-mate was dying. So the words and performances carry special meaning. I can't listen to Brian May's solo in "Don't Try So Hard" without believing in my heart he was saying goodbye to Freddy with his guitar. It's quite moving, at least to me.
When this fitst came out I thought Queen were flicking the bird at Vanilla Ice, as if to say "try and get a sample from this!!" Little did we know at the time.
I grew up with Queen, household staple and had most of their records in vinyl and it's sad Freddy past away so soon not much longer after the release of this album. The reason you will not find any live versions of this song or any on this album as Freddy was already very sick. He eventually died due to the complications caused by AIDS. When Freddy died, I think for a brief moment in time the world stopped spinning and the heavens cried. Till this day, Queen is one of my first picks on any playlist. And I'll be honest with you, for someone that composes and produces music that hasn't been introduced to some of the all time classic songs I think you really missed the memo there. It's like when an artist that makes paintings doesn't know Rembrandt or Picasso. Anyway, glad you finally found out about Queen as it is never to late!
My favourite Queen song. Never get tired of it. And BTW it's great that you've never heard Pink Floyd or Bohemian Rapsody before but you sure know Led Zeppelin😁 LedZep RULES!!!!!
He died just after the release of the album, that's why you can't find real live versions of this, sadly :( And, by the way, this is one of the most underevaluated song from them, it has the force and variation of Bohemian R. but people don't know it, sadly.
Yes, you cannot find a good live version of this. But Freddy did gave us everything he had; singing his last songs. I'll never forget the exact place where I was when I realized we would lose Freddy soon. Hearing the song "Show must go on" on the radio was enough, I was never going to see him live.
@@becauseisaacwhen it came out in 1977 it was the second track on the album straight after We Will Rock You, so many DJs in the US just played them both straight through. That boosted their popularity in the US as sports stadium anthems.

Isaac…
KUDOS to you for reacting to this lesser-known masterpiece!!
The song gives you shivers down the spine and the whole album is simply masterpiece.
The March Of The Black Queen is like a trailor for Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody (1975), Innuendo (1991) is the closure...
I can still sing along having listened to this in my teenage years
This song has such a Zeppelin taste, that Robert Plant sung it in the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 1992. OMG time flies but Queen remains.
The last track on the Innuendo album is "The Show Must Go On" and is one of Queen's absolute standout tracks.
Gotta find this live …. oh dear ….
“I’ve listened to the songs from the eighties: we will rock you and we are the champions”
Ahhh so sweet, you’re almost there🥲
But truly: nice to see what you are doing and giving us insight of Gen Z thinking to my favourite kind of music
This is my favorite Queen song, the composition is majestic
The Show Must Go On
Innuendo
I'm Going Slightly Mad
These Are The Days of Our Lives...
I can't hear those songs without crying
You should also to listen "The Show Must Go On", "It's Late", "The Prophet's Song" or even "The March Of The Black" a lot of Queen fans says that "The March Of The Black Queen" is pre-Bohemian Rhapsody ;)
Watch Queen at live aid for a masterclass in how truly great Queen were with Freddy who was the ultimate showman in front of a worldwide audience, There is no Autotune no gimmicks just pure talent and rated as one of the worlds greatest performances.
Innuendo is the bohemian rhapsody of the 90's
Hi, try reaction I WANT IT ALL official Queen video 😉
I am "young" enough to say that this is the only Queen song I remember video for on MTV. Took me a while, but put it all together with songs from radio! (I had to call the station and ask "WTF is this?!?" when I first heard Bo Rap!)
Masterpiece, just amazing... On my personal Top 5 Queen albums
Watch live aide with Queen! It’s the absolute best ever!!
Roger really knocks it out of the ballpark with the drums!!!🎉🎉
Real masterpiece
Watch the green day crowd sing bohemian rhapsody at hyde park.its show how much England loves queen
funny that you mention Led Zeppelin, Roger Taylor (the drummer) wrote most of the lyrics inspired by and as kind of a tribute to Led Zeppelin :) I became a subscriber bc of your interesting BTS reactions, but now I'm all here for Queen!
A pleasant Reaction, not constantly interrupting the Video and not talking too excessively, great...
My most favorite song of Queen.
It’s their best studio album !!! Freddie always gave his all. 150% !!!
I have to say this is my all time favourite song of queen.
Absolute tune
If you want to hear more, i fully recommend two of the songs from the latter recordings of Freddie's lifetime. The Show Must Go On is mind blowing, and Mother Love is the last recording he made, while dying of a terminal illness, and he still sounds better than anyone else ever.
This is near the end of Freddie’s human form, before he turned into a god. Roger’s angry drumming is no surprise. Not sure how the band managed to get through making this album but I’m glad they did. My favourite Queen song❤
Queen has 100 songs that are underated
Great reaction vid! You should check out the song “March of the Black Queen” from their second album Queen II. It’s definitely a pre-cursor to Bohemian Rhapsody.
we all wanted to hear it live
When you said you wanted to see a live version of this, I just felt so sad - nobody would ever get to see Freddie sing this song live.
Exactly…you reacted ‘it reminds to Kashmir (LZ). This song was an ode to Led Zeppelins Kashmir. So you you are absolutely right.
There are no bad Queen songs, not a single one was less than brilliant. Freddie Mercury is one of the greatest singers and performers that has ever lived. People will try, but no one will ever match him. I wish he was still alive and gracing us with his incomparable voice.
You must watch their Live Aid performance , especially SomebodyTo Love.
We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions are from the 70’s
Fun thing with a lot of Queen songs: quite often the most prominent backing vocalist is the songwriter. Freddie Mercury, Brian May and Roger Taylor all sang lead vocals on songs throughout their career but Brian and Roger also wrote songs Freddie sang. John Deacon didnt sing so the trick doesnt work for him but you'll usually get a funkier bassline and less prominent guitar work on his songs.
yeah we all wished and dreamed of hearing that album live..... but
Queen songs go wherever Queen want to take them. It’s art in its purest form. Listen to 39
You should listen to the song "Killer Queen"
This sing has some inspiration from "Kashmir". That why it reminds you of it.
My favorite Queen song 💜
We are The Champions is from 1977
I ended up looking that up. Was highly popular in the 80s tho, so half right :)
@@becauseisaac is still damn popular today so 😂
@@becauseisaacwhen it came out in 1977 it was the second track on the album straight after We Will Rock You, so many DJs in the US just played them both straight through. That boosted their popularity in the US as sports stadium anthems.
This album came out in February 1991, and Freddy Mercury died in November 1991. It was a studio album and there were no live performances. Unfortunately it was no longer possible.
