    I moved from San Jose California to Austin back in 1994 with a company I worked for at the time. Moved from Austin to Houston in 1999 and never looked back. Houston has been so good to me in so many ways. I started a successful Manufacuring business. I've lived in three suburbs around Houston. Katy. Jersey Village and now April Sound on the Golf course on Lake Conroe. So in my case Houston worked out very well for me. I'm living the American dream.

      Most ppl nowadays living in Houston are transplants & not originally from Houston...before ppl moved from California, East & West, Houston was filled with Southern Hospitality...so maybe those rude ppl where born & raised in areas where ppl are rude🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

      hmmm not sure abou this one but my experience has been the opposite. People are so nice. Strangers smile at each other. People are mostly willing to help you out. Or they will just leave you alone. I have not encountered that many rude folks here in Houston. And I've been living here for 11 years

    I plan on moving in August of this year. This will be my first apartment. Do you have any recommendations for apartments or areas for people in their early 20s?

      Try the Humble area... i kno a 24year old chick from Chi town an she jus got a apartment in that area...

    • @texlad04
      @texlad04 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If your budget can support it, the Midtown area is bustling. You will have to deal with some homeless folks there. That's the hottest spot for 20 somethings. If you head out of downtown, the Montrose, Washington Ave, and Heights areas are popular with younger people. Just keep in mind what the host of this channel says - plan to drive. She's 1000% correct. If you find a cheaper apartment in the outskirts and you plan to be out and about inside the Loop more than once a week, you may offset your rental savings with Uber costs (if you drink, you shouldn't drive.) If you love the arts and sports and dining scene, you're going to be inside the Loop frequently. I love being inside the Loop but there are trade-offs. But honestly it's best to look at the neighborhoods for yourself. We have a highly urbanized core and if you're not used to that, you will want to see what it's like. And as she says very clearly, you should plan around your commute. If you do want to avoid driving as much as possible, then I would recommend the Montrose area generally which is broadly one of the most walking/biking friendly areas in town. It's very trendy and the rent will reflect that if you go for something nice, but there are non-corporate rental options that may be easier on the wallet. Some people prefer to live by the Galleria as a sort of balance, but the traffic there often really sucks even if the rent might be a little cheaper. At rush hour, you might spend 15 minutes trying to get across 610. You really need to look at your commuting situation and the total cost for your going out and socializing and enjoying all the city has to offer.
