    I have traveled in 33 years in Thailand, mostly during the rainy season because that's when we have the holiday season. Sometimes it has rained more almost every day for a month, sometimes only occasional 10-minute showers. There are big differences in the amount of rain by locality. When you travel during the rainy season, hotel rentals are significantly cheaper, and you can also rent motorcycles for less. There are no traffic jams anywhere, well in Bangkok of course. Visited a few times in December-January, I don't like it, too many tourists. So I still prefer the rainy season, we talk about low-season.

    A local here! One thing to mention for those who want to explore the beach down south, especially Andaman sea, during the rainy season is the strong current with the big wave. Regardless of whether rainy day, the current during mid May till October is strong with a big wave which may it unpleasant for swimming. Many marine national parks are closed during this season. If you think of white sand with clear water, obviously you should avoid this period of the year.
    Having been growing up in Phuket, I would say the best beach season which will not gonna make you feel regret is from Dec to April. Jan-March is my favorite as it is not super hot like in late March and April.
    Hope this help you guys with the planing ❤

    The rainy season is actually not bad and the rain helps keep the temperature down. The hotel resorts in Bangkok and Pattaya were really cheap. Imo if you don't mind a bit of rain and would like to keep your budgets low, go during the rainy season.

    My favourite time in Thailand is during rainy season. Sure you could get unlucky with the weather if only on a two week holiday, but even then you could fly quickly from North to South and vice versa. Everything is green, much cheaper and far fewer tourists. It just sucks that at the same time my home country has short summer also.

    What I remember of southern Florida. I lived there 20 yrs and have been gone 20 yrs. It rained in the summer sometime between 12 noon and 3 PM (from what I remember). If you live in a polluted city the rain beats the pollution into the ground. I found that out when visiting Los Angeles. I'd say rainy season is a great time to be in Bangkok. Until they get a handle on the air pollution.

    From experience I'd estimate that the wettest weeks are mid September to about 25th October and you can expect a few deluges, which will create flooding, particularly in the North down to Central Thailand. I'm not fully experienced with Phuket, Krabi etc, as I've only been there during Dec to Feb when the weather is pleasant (not to hot) and dry, at least very small chance of rain.

      I’d say it’s definitely bearable, it’s just a little bit warmer than the peak season but at the same time its more humid so you will get more sweaty, that’s the drawback. You don’t think about it too much though if you spend your time by the pool or the beach because then you can always go for a swim. When you’re out and about, walking down the road, you can always go into a convenience store to cool off in the AC. From my experience, it was much more common with 1-2 hour rain showers rather than it raining for the entire day so it could switch from being rainy to full blown sunshine from one hour to another.

      @Robert_Berg  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Depends on which month of the rainy season you visit aswell as the island you intend on going to I’d say. The seasons vary widely from region to region and coast to coast. Some island tours might be closed during September as people have told you but it was open when I went in July.

    Can you please let me know from where you booked your tour to other islands (phi-phi and others) from Phuket??? (The one you mentioned in the video which were around 1400bahts)
    Was it on-spot or you booked it online beforehand?

    Thanks for the video bro. Can I ask what you do for work? Are you working remotely? How much could you spend in Thailand if you were to rent/live there?

    • @Robert_Berg
      @Robert_Berg  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad you enjoyed!
      Funny you ask. I’m a filmmaker/ social media manager and I’m based in Stockholm, Sweden. I do most of my work remote (a lot of video editing) so I’ve definitely looked into working remote from Thailand before. Whenever I travel I tend to do so for longer periods of time, just my prefered way of traveling.
      I think it really depends on your lifestyle and where in Thailand you want to live and although I can’t give you an exact number, I could give you some rough estimates. It’s definitely cheaper to get a long term lease so if you plan to stay, let’s say for a year in Bangkok you could live a comfortable ”western” lifestyle on roughly $2K a month. It’s definitely doable on less but it depends how much you want to sacrifice (to live further from the city centre/ BTS, less dinners/ night outs etc.)
