IS PHUKET WORTH VISITING IN THE LOW SEASON?

- I used to avoid visiting Thailand from May-November due to the ‘monsoon season’, in reality the weather is not permanently bad and there will be patches of very nice weather too.
I got told the weather was awful, the bugs were bad (they can be at times), and everywhere was shut…
You might get a few more mosquitoes, you may get a bit more rain, but you’ll also get slightly less crowds, more choice of accommodation, and some bargaining power to get lower prices for certain things.
In this video I give my perspective on Phuket in the rainy season and from the the past 6 years of travelling to Thailand and share the thoughts of other expats and locals’ views that have way more experience than I have.
What have your experiences been of Phuket & Thailand in the low season?
I’m visiting Phuket early next month for 7-8 days and haven’t got anything planned, since everyone says it’s going to rain. I have been contemplating if I should cancel for the exact reasons you mentioned. Thanks for clearing it up. 👍🏽👍🏽
Great video. ☺️
September/ October I believe are the wettest months but this can be quite hit and miss/ you might get good weather. I don’t think it’s worth cancelling. It’ll give you a nice taste of what phuket is like too. Thanks for the comment 🙌🏻
How did/is your holiday going..? I am flying out on Thursday 13th and am worried about the forecast i have seenz
Went to Bali in wet season and didnt get a drop of rain. Went to Phuket in rainy season and it rained half the day each day. Went to Bangkok in rainy season a few times and it was super hot and sunny.
100% agree with you that Phuket doesnt have a low season anymore too.
The irony! They should probably rename ‘wet season’ right? And probably largely down to luck too. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻
Totally agree about Patong, I stayed happily at Rawai, visited Patong for a few minutes. Loved my walk over to Nai Harn beach each morning, it was quite even then in November.
Nothing like the mornings down at Nai Harn 👌🏻
Nothing like the mornings down at Nai Harn 👌🏻
@@joshbonthemove I'm off to stay my partner's family in Isaan next week. I can't wait.
Great videos man. Commenting for the algorithm gods!
Thinking of staying in pattaya
Thank you brother! Enjoy yourself and stay safe 👊🏻
I couldn’t agree with you more on getting a scooter two years ago, I ended up having to get a high mileage pcx150 through my maid and ended up paying 30,000 baht for three months ( I knew I was paying way way too much, but I couldn’t find one anywhere ) but I have to admit it was satisfying to see the smile on their faces when they delivered the scooter and I handed over that fat stack of baht ( especially after how hard they got hit by covid ).. this past winter was just the opposite, plenty of scooters,.. I ended up getting a low mileage newer model pcx “ 160 “ for 5500 baht a month
Crazy that but yeah I’ve seen hugely different priced and availability at different times of the year
Hi Josh. I am enjoying the videos. Ive been in Patong for 3 weeks. I love the place. I just avoid Bangla Road. Lots of bars and restaurants everywhere. keep up the good work. It hasnt rained all week. Ha.
I'm also coming there soon. Keep hearing bad things about the place so curious to see for myself and keeping my bookings flexible
Thanks Roger! I spent a couple weeks in Patong last year, I do like it too in small doses and understand why others do. Weathers been great in general!
Everyone’s got different tastes, you might like what I don’t. I just try to give my perspective. I’ve loved things people have recommended against and hated things people have recommended
Chiang mai lovely in the wet season, nice and green
Only been to CM in the Smokey season. Need to get back up there
When i arrived at Karon beach second week of May, it was really busy, but when i left 2 weeks later, it was really quiet. The weather was then hot with a bit of rain. I return to Karon in early September and it will be interesting to see how many tourists are there. I have been there in September before and it suits me.
Never been in September, one of two months I’ve not been. Would be intrigued to see what it’s like then. Have a good time!
It 100% is worth it. Best time of year. Anyone saying otherwise is being ridiculous
September too.? I am going this friday and and worried about the forecast. It looks rotten.
I thought that wet season meant it rains all day everyday so this is good to know. Hoping the partly sunny days hold out for my upcoming trip 😁 ☀️
I used to think that too, there will be rain but there will be plenty of days without much too ☀️🙌🏻
You are talking about the wet season in Thailand, but it isn’t as generic as that. Wettest month for Phuket is September (not July), wettest month for Samui is November
I’m talking about the wet season, not the wettest month 👍🏻
@@michaelgruijters2288 Would you avoid Phuket in September?
another Great video! Visiting a new video each day!! or maybe more! =)
Appreciate the comment! Plenty more to come soon 👊🏻
I'll visit Khao Lak next week and I'm very curious whether the weather is going to be nice or not... I hope it will not rain all the day or half of the day! Its my first time travelling outside of europe... Btw.. does anyone know whether to see some islands as a tour? (Like driving around them but not entering them)
Nice! South east Asia is such a culture change but it’s amazing. The weather could be good or could be wet but it’s unlikely you won’t have some nice weather half the time or more. You’re not far from Khao Sok National park there, check it out. Islands you might need to head more south or over to Krabi as similan islands are shut at this time of year which would be your closest option usually. Enjoy!
@@joshbonthemove thanks a lot! I also hope it will just rain for 1h a day!
Thank you! I saw some tours of Phi Phi islands online, but I thought they will be closed too?
August the same. September desertification.
I’ve actually noticed this week there’s some quieter days, and then other days everyone just seems to appear from nowhere. Strange haha!
I’m in Patong it’s fine
Fine for you, not for me. We all have our preferences 👍🏻
You have no idea, no French Arabs on ADV 750.
Huh?
